  1. i normally send my ammo to the match hotel, and have the person in charge of handling SC coordination there at the hotel sign for it, and hold it for me till i arrive i call before i leave to ensure that it has arrived, and all is well. in the past i've not had a problem, and will probably do it again this year. the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful with the shooters. Is it better to send the ammo to the match range or the hotel as suggested above? I am shipping ammo from NY and UPS takes about a week (at least) to get to CA. Bob
  2. As this is my first SC, should I bring any specialized gear to make life easier. For example at the Bianchi cup having a folding stool to set your shooting bag on is very handy when shooting the COF. Do electronic ears help in the match? Thanks, 38stupid
  3. I got the 10 rounds mags from Para today and they look good! Cya in CA. Bob
  4. Just to let you guys know that I STILL have not gotten an OFFICIAL response since my reply to the Ca. DOJ. I did not think that it was that tuff of a question. As stated, you could not "trust" the answer you get anyway...... I have already ordered 10 round politically correct / safe / neutral / inert / nuetered magazines for my Para.......... I will post any response (if I get one). Bob
  5. I want to thank you folks for the great advice. I am going to my first SC this year and I am really looking forward to the EVENT! I do have a couple of questions; 1) The (6) Special events - how much do they cost to participate in? Para challenge / The Zone / Warp speed / Etc. 2) I want to use my Browning Hi power for Limited class. Can I remove the magazine safety - Its a pain to load a mag to pull the trigger after showing clear and dropping the slide. 3) It seems if I want to shoot both the Semi-Auto Optics and Limited, I would fall into Bracket 1 of the application. If so, do you shoot (1) gun on friday and the second gun on Saturday? I hope that you dont have to mix up different guns in one day. 4) If you shoot the (3) events (rimfire pistol, shotgun and rifle) is it hard to do all this on Thursday? I look foward to a great time (beats work any day) and meeting a bunch of great people. Bob
  6. I contacted the Cal. DOJ (via email) and asked the question regarding the magazines (hi cap). I just got a reply yesterday requesting the make and model of the firearm!? (original email 7-12-05 reply 7-19-05) I replied with the requested information and will let you folks know what I get for an answer......... Bob
  7. I will post any "official" findings that I get......Thanks.... Bob
  8. I am shooting my first S.C. this year. I was wondering what the laws are regarding my Para Hi cap mags in the state of CA. I would prefer not to buy 10 round mags just for this match. I live in the Socialist Republic of NY and all my mags are pre-ban. (We have a duplicate State law of the Old Federal ban which does not expire) Bob
  9. This was first cup. I had a GREAT time (with the exception of my gun(s) going south - lots of jams) The people could not be better in general and it is a great match. I spoke directly to Rudy (NRA) at the match and point blanked him with the 3.5lb trigger rule. He indicated that the rules board had to meet this fall and the rule book would not be sent out until January. I told him that I was hooked and wanted to build a new gun but not if they are going to put that stupid 3.5lb trigger pull rule in. I clearly stated this on my questionare at the banquet along with my friends who did the same. My bet is that it is a done deal...... I would participate in any match (that is close enough) that had "old" rules (ie no grip safety or trigger pull limits). It too bad that a lawyer or two can spoil a great sport like action shooting!! Bob
  10. Yep, the extra rounds won't hurt just in case. I just got the series 80 parts back in both of my guns along with the properly functioning grip safeties. (Also had to replace the extractors which are series 80 compatiable) Nothin like screwing with your guns just before the biggest match of the year. Pucker factor of about 9.25 out of 10. Bob
  11. Sorry for this but this is my first cup. I am shooting a wide body gun in the match (actually (2) of them). My question is "how many rounds can I load in my mags". I would like to load enough rounds to complete each section of the stage with one mag (12 rounds). This way I could use (4) mags to complete each stage. (I dont have 8 mags yet - NY hi cap mag laws stink) I have asked several people and gotten mixed responses. Also, it is my understanding that ALL safeties must operate or you don't compete. Is this true? (series 80 parts included?)
  12. Thanks for the info.... Is there any magazine company that seems to be best in the 9mm relm? I did not know that the mags can be an issue with the 9mm. Would the Rock River unlimited be a production gun or metalic sight division gun? Same question with the Rock River Limited Match.? Thanks for the info.... Bob
  13. I just entered my first Bianchi Cup this year! I was planning to shoot my old para 38 super comp gun in the modified open class. Unfortunately, the gun had a major malfunction and I don't think I can have it running by the Cup. What is the BEST choice for the production class. I was looking at the Springfield full size 9mm. I need to make a quick decision. (Sorry, this is my first post ever)
