  1. If you're heading into a multi-gun stage, and your carrier of choice is the 4-6 round shell caddy, how does one manage to place those on the belt while also having all your pistol mags there, too?
  2. Excuse me for coming to the dance a little late, but if the shooter had been given the "Make Ready" command, his repositioning of the gun is allowable. If it were done before the command, he would be done for the day. On a lighter note, in my earlier RO times, I had a guy sweep me with a loaded gun and stupid me grabbed his hand (a big no no). Its just a natural reaction and thank goodness it hasn't happened to me since.
  3. During my CRO class in July, McMeanus mentioned SketchUp so over the past several weeks I've been trying it out as a means to rough in my 'homework' for the class. That said, I've got a question for the experts since I've not found out how to do this in the user manual. One of the IPSC components in the online library is an array of several metric targets - plain, a no shoot, and various ones with different hardcovers. My question is, how does one go about 'extracting' just the targets one needs and (I assume) make a new component? As in, I pick out what I need from the array, create them as new components, and delete the rest?
  4. Let me make sure I understand what you're saying, here, is that you've witnessed numerous Glock 45ACP's & 40S&W's doing the kaboom thing? At any rate, I've shot a letter off to Glock in Smyrna (couldn't locate an e-mail address) to see what they say. I did divulge (in the letter) that I suspect the problem was a double-charged reload. There's actually no way to verify it, now!
  5. You know, I was just thinking the same thing last night while inspecting it closely. I completely disassembled it at my kitchen table with all house lights off (save the one over the table), with only the gun, a magnifying glass, and a small flashlight. I looked it over for about an hour. Saw that the trigger housing got a bit warped and there is a crack in the mag well right above where the backstrap plug is inserted. It doesn't appear to be a problem, but I'll think on it awhile. Scrutinizing the barrel really put a scare in me; the damage is alot worse than I first thought. There's even stress fractures on both sides of chamber. Makes me wonder how the thing held together.
  6. Mike, I'm just getting started with a used Lee 1000, and am using conversion data (since their measuring technique involves powder volume and not weight). What I believe happened is that it was a double-charge. The primers were gumming up the works, which was stopping the shell plate from advancing properly, and instead of moving it forward, I probably moved it backward. I was in the process of putting 10 rounds through a chrono, and this one made it @ 1044 fps. With a bullet weight of 180 gr, that puts the pf @ 188. Not that huge. I don't have the data in front of me but if you're interested, I'll post it later.
  7. Yes folks - I did it, to my trusty G35 while testing reloads. After getting the gun apart, here's what I found: 1) trigger broken 2) magazine (holding said round) ruptured on the side, plus the follower broken 3) extractor which I guess is in orbit 4) oh yeah, the extractor plunger, too 5) the barrel looks great if you ignore the brass ring on the breech face! I've inspected the slide and as best as I can tell looks ok. Trigger safety and stricker are also ok. I want to replace the parts (extractor, plunger, trigger & barrel and pay ALOT more attention while reloading). Is there anything else I should be looking at - closely?
  8. I did download the .pdf from the Lee Precision site, and just wasn't too comfy without an example to go by (other than the chart with the two stacked disks). That being said, in the end - I'll weigh it first. What's a good cheap scale?
  9. Brand new to reloading, picked up a 1000 Pro (for dirt cheap) and am trying to understand the Lee charts to select the proper charge disk. Best way I know how is to use a real example: I'm loading 180 g FMJ S & W .40 to make major. Using Flex's comments in another post as a guide, I'll be using an OAL of 1.125-1.135 with 3.7 g of Titegroup and work it up from there. What disk should I be using & why? These will be going through a G35 by the way. TIA
  10. Ya know, right after posting that question, I realized that is what the acronym meant. Thanks for pointing out the significance of the number.
  11. From a reloading rookie - "What's the acronym SD mean, and what is it's significance?"
  12. OK, you had them last week, I'll take them this week.
  13. You mean you've shot matches wearing flops?
  14. I've not scored many matches yet; the guy who normally does it is in Florida on vacation so I've chose not to bother him. Also, I was not in attendance at the match (had a cycling event) so I don't know the circumstances behind the score sheets in question. I have one competitor with a missing time on one stage. How does you get that into his score for the stage/match (realizing it'll be 0 as per 9.7.6.1)? Another competitor did not finish (he shot 3 of 5 stages). Searching EzWin Help so far has not been successful. Can anyone point me in the right direction? TIA
  15. Well...it hasn't been changed yet (he exclaimed while looking at his re-cert test)! Well at least you wont spend a ton of time looking for the answer--Like I did Not quite true; I had spent alot of time looking before I turned to the forum!
  16. Well...it hasn't been changed yet (he exclaimed while looking at his re-cert test)!
  17. Took a couple of attempts, but when they finally answered their customer support line, the guy was very helpful and fixed me right up!
  18. Does anyone have either access or a link to instructions on PACT timers? The company web site is rather user unfriendly, and a google search turns up what looks like illegal serial number lists for something! I'm playing around with one right now, have gotten it stuck in fixed-time mode, and there's no getting it out of the mode. The constant beeping is driving my cat nuts.
  19. I was getting ready to run a shooter at our club match a few weeks ago; he stepped into a start box and I noticed he had a loaded magazine in his hand. I politely asked him not to have it out until we start doing the LAMR dance. He pointed out that there are no rules against loaded magazine handling outside of the safety area. Besides, you have to be able to load them somewhere, don't you? I found nothing in the rule book other than addressing what can occur in the safety area. How do other RO's feel about this, or, is there something in the rules that would apply to this situation that I'm missing here.
  20. Thanks for the opinions, guys. Looks like a blue reloader for me and then use the coupon for dies 'n stuff...
  21. Grettings munitions experts! At a recent state match, I won a door prize that entitled me to purchase Redding reloading equipment direct from the factory at 50% off catalog price. I've only been shooting (USPSA) about 15 months; reloading equipment is one of the next purchases I was considering. So, to anyone with experience in the different manufacturers, is this 50% off offer attractive enough so that you'd purchase their products as opposed to Lee or Dillion? I am talking about buying a complete setup to get me started in the wonderfuld world of reloading!
