  1. Ran across these and thought I would share.
  2. Fair enough, we are considered "gun nuts" by a lot of the population now. The original point was be damn sure your ducks are in a row mentally as as well as the choice of a weapon.
  3. OK, didn't mean to offend. I just believe part of self defense is knowing what to prepare for legally as well. I pulled this thread off topic anyway, sorry for that.
  4. This happened in Northwest Florida, in one of the most "Redneck" counties there is. This person got away with murder because the jury did not understand how guns work. I guess my point is you cannot underestimate who might be judging you. Then factor in lawyers using words like "high capacity" and " Assault weapons" and things can go bad quick. I would HIGHLY recommend reading one of Massads books about what happens after a shooting.
  5. Thank you sir, I have not been to the Bianchi Cup since 1981? I'm sure things have changed!
  6. Food for thought: what happens if your self defense shooting puts you in front of a jury? That's right, people that have no idea how guns work and a good chance they don't even like guns. My wife was a juror in a local murder trial and what she told me sent a shiver down my spine. The defendant got off because the other jurors could not comprehend how a pump shotgun could be fired three times. What worked for the defendant could also help you out in a self defense case. I now have a 20ga pump and an "Old Six Shooter" (S&W K frame) as my defense weapons. No way in hell would I use an AR 15 or high capacity handgun in a normal home defense situation. These guns are sees "assault weapons" to the average juror and could very well put you in prison.
  7. I talked to my my friend who owns a local shop. He said the distributor has 43 of them in stock. I wonder if they would pick through them and find a good one?
  8. Another option is buy the tools and install a Douglas barrel yourself. I did and never looked back.
  9. Thanks for the input thus far. Seems like a great concept with hit or miss QC.
  10. I have some extra $$$. After reading all the problem posts, I am having a bit of hesitation. Thoughts?
  11. I just wanted to give an update. I watched all of Mr Wong's videos, gave it some thought and went to work. The trigger now breaks at a clean 3 lbs with minimal over and under travel. While it may not be a world class 1911 trigger, the ZEV trigger makes the most of Glock's design. Thanks for the videos Mr Wong!
  12. You are right Bret, something is wrong. This is a never fired gen 3, 34 that has been sitting in my safe for a few years. I was hoping the new trigger would save the day.
  13. The trigger pull is now over 5 pounds with an increase in creep and overall "marshmallow" feel. Thanks for the link, but I am looking for a lighter pull.
  14. I bought a ZEV ultimate trigger kit for my 34. The trigger is worse than the factory, is there any way to lighten the pull? I looked at some you tube videos, not much promise there.....
  15. Well,I guess I did crate a link. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see a link box to the shoot.
  16. Sorry for the delay,I can't seem to create a direct link with this Nook. docburgessknives.com is the webpage and delist23586@mypacks.net is his e-mail. That match was a tough one for sure,I still have a pack of those targets somewhere. Combine that withe running between stages and it added up to quite a challenge! Addison did really well at Second Chance with his 29's and was one hell of a nice guy. I hope this info helps, I sure miss those matches along with the first Bianchi Cups. John Robbins
  17. I was too young to shoot, ran targets and still have the belt buckle Doc gave me. Checkout the link on Doc Burgess's knife web page. There is a lot of photos, etc. I talked to Doc via e mail, he sent me a hat, some pins and an X- mas card. Shoot him an e mail, he would be happy to hear from you.
  18. I remember when Nick came to Second Chance and won. He could not afford the trip and told his benefactor he would split whatever he won with them. Worked out well for both of them!
