I know we are all big kids and should know to turn then draw but facing uprange with hands at sides is begging for people to DQ.  Wrists above shoulders wouldn't have changed the shooting challenge but is a more practiced starting position and may have saved a couple those tally marks.

When I did my first walk-through for that stage, I would have totally DQ'd it.  I drew as I was turning and started air-gunning.  After two "shots," I stopped and asked myself: "WTF did you just do?"  In fact, I changed my first thought of which way to turn to ensure that I would have the least chance of forgetting again.  It definitely taught me a lesson as I realized how quickly I failed it in that walk-through.

    muzzle on an X?

A common PCC starting position now is specific that the buttstock should touch the belt and the muzzle should touch an X on the wall; keeping everyone starting the same, unlike the bastardized positions that "port arms" and "low ready" have become.

I hope you realize I was joking about my girlfriend sneeking up and doing this often. But, she can certainly do it and has per me asking her to try to!

I appreciate your opinion on this, and SOTG is a shooting friend locally, so he's just looking out for a buddy, which is how he rolls!

I must admit I'm bad at seeing that.  Thanks.  Obviously, purposeful, planned, permissive testing would be exempt!

I always try and squad with suckier shooters. I have mental issues and don't function around a bunch of good shooters who I don't know good.   I shoot better and have less anxiety with a bunch of C class shooters...

That has quite a bit of merit.  What few tricks I might get from their runs might be overshadowed by the mistakes I might make trying to do it their way, or the practice time lost even thinking about doing it their way.

Unwarranted commentary of a personal nature that reveals a substantial amount of jealousy.  Stay classy.

Holster is marketed as if it is for USPSA so it should therefore be USPSA legal at the very least.  The holster maker needs to make it right.

OP specifically opened his thread by wanting straight-forward comments for his thick skin.  He offered that his papered girlfriend was "super smart," yet sneaks up on him and sticks her fingers in his holster to activate the trigger.  I'm a little busy right now to figure out how to politicize advice for that one.  Forgive me.

Not sure where there is any cause to impute jealousy.  I'm irrelevantly papered, too, substantially.  Only means something to someone that needs the papers.

Agreed that the holster-maker is on the hook here.  If he can't fix it, he needs to replace it with a USPSA-legal holster.

Holster maker said this about it:

"As for the gaps they are at the back of the holster against the body.  The blocking on a TS Orange because air shape has to be where it is for mounting. "

So apparently this is fine and HAS to be this way!!

Just because a "holster maker" says it's okay, doesn't make it okay.  Honestly, I don't even understand his explanation, but I'm not a holster maker.

You've already mentioned what your stupid girlfriend does to your holstered firearm, and the USPSA rule is quite clear.

If I suspected someone was going to do that, I'd chamber a primed case.

  7. Safariland's old-style 011 belt has the fuzzy half on the inside, and their 032 ELS belt (with the holes) has the stiff loop half of the Velcro on the inside.  In both cases, the entire inside of the belt contains its Velcro, except for the part that is designed to overlap.  You need different inner belts for each one.  I have a complete rig of each.

... it sure would be nice to shoot the gun I already have...

    Are you going after trophies?

Your S&W is legal for Limited-10, or Limited for that matter.  If in .45, you can use the extended 10-round .45 magazines.  Shoot what you want, and while you'll be scored with the Limited guys, you can compare your score on your own to the SS guys.

My next major match is Multigun Nationals, so I'm still shooting the same .45 1911 that I shot at Area 1 (in the SS division) but this time I'm practicing with the 10-round magazines because my same pistol is now a Limited-10 configuration for Heavy Metal division.

  9. Relax.  The thread is a natural progression of someone being concerned that there MIGHT be a rule that could outlaw a device he is looking at.  Someone mentions it would be doubtful that even if a rule came about that it would outlaw something smaller than 1x3".  Someone asked where the 1x3" comes from.  It was answered and discussed.  In reality, the OP was answered quickly, with the rest of the thread being a relevant conversation.

To continue the thread, with the larger bore diameter of the typical PCC, it doesn't seem likely that a muzzle device would ever get limited to a smaller diameter than allowed on varmint rifles and battle rifles in other disciplines from the same sanctioning body.

  10. Haven't heard back, so I sent a follow up to CZ Custom.  You guys think it's possible to have them install their trigger and have the gun back to me within 3 weeks?  If not, I'll order the HB trigger and springs.  I've already ordered the HB AK-style safety and Delta charging handle.

This will be my primary gun for Hard as Hell 2-gun at the end of the month.

  11. Is the seating die clean of lube, lead, etc?  I've never needed to have a tight tolerance window so have never checked enough to see what I'm getting.  But when I notice it is different, usually based on where it crimped on the bullet, I know I went too long before I cleaned the guts of the seating die.

Quote: "sometimes I would load a single round to check and see (with an empty shell plate) and it would seat the bullet all the way in the case?"

I just got home from Area 1, and I'm dirty and tired.  So I apologize if I'm dense right now, but I can't figure out what you mean by that.

  12. I am only familiar with USPSA Multigun rules.  Yes, the pistol must be on safe or decocked.  Basically, it has to be in a holster-legal condition for loaded guns prior to a start. Rule 8.3.6.1.

Primarily, the CRO still issues commands to have a competitor clear his abandoned firearm, during which time he would note its condition.  Often, when practical, an assistant RO clears the abandoned gun and checks its condition, but is supposed to do so with a competitor's delegate so there are always two sets of eyes on it for verification. Rule 8.3.6.3.

Hammer-down or half-cock-ish depends on the firearm in question.  It has already been ruled by DNROI that a pistol, like the CZ, that goes to a half-cock-ish step for decocking is its starting and safe position. See: https://www.uspsa.org/uspsa-NROI-ruling-details.php?indx=30
