  1. I think for the 100-150 L2 match I would expect the following

9-12 stages, call two of them speed shoots. Not everything needs to be 32 rounds

    Regular T shirt

    1 day format

    Water bottles on Bays

Trophy and Prize table...Or Cash (in order of performance)

I've never done a shoot off so I think thats kinda cool

Tablet scoring with individual paper copy, or PS emailed copy of what I approved on the tablet.

    50/50 raffle?

Lots of communication, if there is a side match I'd like to know about it, vendors, Gathering at local restaurant after etc...

    Dislikes,
Lunch, or if the ROs need a break, schedule a open stage for them.

    Not replacing targets at lunch

    Forced 2 day format

    Backups

Shooters bags that have 40lbs of flyers for things I'll never even look at.

    Forward Falling Steel.

  2. In Limited, you generally only have 1 reload per stage. Plan it in the biggest run or movement you have. Dont Count shots; know 'when I leave this porti'm reloading

Otherwise, Instead of counting to 16 and up on shots,  count misses/makeups. If you go "Oh snap that was my 3rd makeup on this mag, I need a new mag in the gun on the next movement"

Counting to 3 is easier than 16

  3. based on how they are discontinuing guns. I still think they only care about the LEO market now. Pretty much all you see. Selling expensive guns to Swat teams and whatnot that have big budgets.

The DVC was kind of a s#!t show, DVC Classic had a bunch of issues, The Open guns had cracks. Dave Dawson was there but then left.

If your getting started its a great base gun, but your going to spend a bunch of money to make it how you want it. Just pay the extra 1g and get a custom built.

I was disappointed when they did away with the 1911s and the contingency program. Especially since the new slogan is 'Find you Win'

  4. I know its probably not what you want to hear but if you are doing ok with the current set up, Stick with that. I will also say this about the whole thing: when you take a random sampling of the top 50 shooters at a area or nats, I would place my money on 90% of them being 2011s. So there is something to be said for that.

Haven't heard or seen many Honcho, do know a guy that Atlas front sight flew off the gun at nats, Atlas refused to stake the front sight in; but lock tighted it and sent it back to him. Not sure I really dig that response but I also dont own one and am not a gunsmith so. Other thing I heard is that the Atlast is basically a bunch of PT parts put together with a atlas logo on them. Cannot confirm or deny that.

Geez. I can’t touch that time. Maybe 4 seconds I guess, but that’s an area that I am picking to get better at. I hate steel and shooting st it more than once SUCKS.

Whether it good or bad. I can consistently hit the 3 sec area doing it the right way. Sight picture, stop the gun on every plate, etc...

getting 2.67, I'm blazing the first shot and then sweeping the gun across all the plates.

Now, I've noticed I either have just gotten lucky or there is some level of sub concision skill because the 2 clubs I go to, one has a USPSA plate rack and one has a longer rack with same size plates but further apart (bianchi maybe??) and I can still get the same times boths ways.

not good to get a training rep doing it the wrong way but thats the only way I can get it that fast. I would say match pace is probably 3 seconds.

Wow! I wonder what direction they are trying to take the company. I wonder how many different models STI has discontinued in the last 5 yrs?

They are all about the LEO gig. Thats all their new staff and clear direction. Realizing they can make departments pay for SWAT bros to carry 2011s was more profitable then competition shooters asking for the highest quality, cheapest gun ever made.

I do find it interesting they are sponsoring the SS Nationals. Wondering if they will debut a new gun there? if not Shot Show is right around the corner.

I saw both in person. They couldn't physically do the prone shooting on a stage and just stood and shot.

It was also a super retarded stage to be brutally honest. Lika few of them are just super super dumb.

Interesting only 93 people signed up and had 6 DQs.

Also, whats up with that SS guy beating the Ms? lol

also I just looked one in 40 is listed for 799.98

    Thats the best option:

    Buy That for 800.

Take to someone and put in ambi safeties, Techwell grips and magwell, SVI trigger parts and blend, undercut the frame.

    You'll be right around 1400.

Also if your going to shoot 40 long like in a limited gun, you have to buy 10mm mags, the 40 specific mags have a spacer and wont work.

Gun Broker recently had a couple 40SW 1911 Max Michel models for under $900 the 9 and 45 versions are $1400 so its pretty tempting.

that said the 9 and 45 versions are a pretty good deal, pretty much tune sear spring and go to town from what I have read.

Are those the guns that have a beefy slide that doesnt fit in most regular holsters? Or am I thinking of something else

With other divisions people say it's worth shooting 40 for major. Is the 45/9 difference worth considering in single stack?

Doesn't look like Atlas is making single stacks any more. None in the buy now or order now group, and the custom section only lists open/limited.

Heck, I don't think the Trojan is made anymore either, is it?

Depends what the gun is going to be for AND in comparison to what you already own. I shoot Limited in 40, loading 40 long to 1.2 OAL. My SS guns are set up to take the exact same load as the limited gun.

a 9mm SS gun can be shot in USPSA SS & IDPA ESP

a 45 SS Gun can be USPSA & IDPA CDP

a 40 SS gun, you can have 10 round mags that fit the box, so you show up to your major match and walk stages, realize that a 10rnd gun is an advantage over a 8rnd gun, so you can declare minor and have a advantage.

I think minor is stupid so I dont have any 9mm SS guns.

EDIT: But, you shoot the same plan as a Prod guy. SS is a low head count division. So you wanna squad with a Prod GM/M and copy their plan, go ahead. Your SS 9mm minor gun is basically production with a magwell and better trigger.

    Atlas SS guns are rare.
STI Trojans can be found in the wild used for sale.

Factory new that is still in production, Springfield or DW

  11. Single Stack the rules are the same except for
    Major, 8rnds in mag

    Minor, 10 roudns in mag

    That being said:

    Gucci: Infinity

    Louis V: Atlas

    Mens Warehouse: STI Trojan

Macys: Dan Wesson Pointman (9 or 45, pick your poison)

    Kohls Clearance Rack: Springfeild RO

    Edit:
Probably looking at, screwing with the leaf spring to adjust the trigger, Adding a magwell, and buying extra mags

I do not think they made weight without some help, but that is neither here nor there..

The 'Gen 2' if you will made weight, and they would Warranty the other ones to make weight if you called and asked.

Tried 4.6 - 4.9 of Sport Pistol under 180 Blue Bullets and ACME at 1.185 OAL today. I had the best accuracy with ACME.

4.8 provided great accuracy at 17 yards and well into PF comfort zone.

Group and 10 shot data in the pictures for 4.8 grains. There was one outlier shot at 913 FPS. I suspect that has more to do with my loading habits than the powder. YMMV

That mimics my test data at 4.8gr SP with a 180 Bayou

If you wanna push it close, the 4.6 was a 165.67 PF @  1.2 OAL :)

I pretty much exclusively shoot the SP in 9, 40 and 45 now. Way better than TG

  14. To go along with the Majority.

The Dillon 750 reloader package is $1500 (rounding)

-Buy once cry once. I dont recommend the SDB or any SS presses if you shoot any type of volume, greater than 100 rounds a month.

I buy by the case so:

    5k Win Primers 130

    3500 Bayou 124gr 250

    8lbs powder: 150

You will have your own brass

    Your hovering around $110/1000 rounds

Federal syntech 124 is 228 a case (whatever website came up first on google)

To address the original Question: Will your ammo perform better than the syntech.
Marginally yes. Talored to the gun, you can  play with the load, maybe more accurate, maybe less recoil.

But every time you go to shoot instead of throwing 2 quarters at the target, you will be throwing two dimes at the target.

Even the 'Remanufactured' 9mm you see around your LGS or online is overpriced in my opinion.

Find someone local to you, buddy at the club or whom ever, ask them to show you their reloader. Ask them if you can come over and load a 100 rounds and see if you even want to do it. Maybe after 5 handles pulls you say 'this sucks i rather drink beer and order ammo online' in which you would have saved yourself a bunch oh money.

If you have any questions feel free to PM, I'm no SME but can offer my advice on dillon machines, bullets powders etc.

Shipping 100k projectiles on a pallet (freight) IS cheaper than in separate flat rate boxes.

But, If They are covering the shipping and not changing the price pallet vs flat rate. To my wallet, the flat rate is cheaper.

Pistols in two separate checked bags is kind of annoying.  BTDT.  I check one bag with everything I need to shoot in it.  More often than not, if one of your bags doesn't make it, the other one doesn't either.

The DAA Range bag makes a perfect sized carry on. I've traveled with people that have done this before and never had a problem. Main thing: Before you pack it up to head to the airport, Empty it out and check it twice, or have your roommate give it a once over to ensure nothing prohibited is in there.

  17. Has anyone every attempted to get a bulk order of bullets done and have a company ship to you on a pallet?

I had done it once years and years ago with XTR, but was wondering if Blue/SNS/Acme did it. I've seen the bullets come in a big powder keg looking barrel and then get delivered to somewhere that has a shipping dock.

    Anyone have experience with this?
