  1. Welcome! You'll really like the 550. Unless you shot some odball huge cartridge it'll load everything you could ever need. What part of AZ? Either way Dillon is only a days drive away for machine service and can get parts to you pretty much overnight with their kick ass warranty.

  2. I find it interesting the amount folks that think the class is worthless with the popularity of the xds and shield. People will say there is already a class, really "bug". Where do you shoot that at every month, not mention the other restrictions no reloads and such, that is great for a guy like me that actually uses what I carry. I do shoot IDPA every month with my shield in ESP (frame stippled) obviously at a huge disadvantage against long slide guns, but that didn't matter because for me its been about getting extra time with my carry gear. Fast forward now IDPA has CCP which will be perfect for these short barreled low capacity guns and guys like me who now will able to compete (play the game) on a "level playing field". People participate for various reasons, I find it interesting though that the "gamers" feel everything should be to their liking and who cares about everyone else. I'm looking forward to CCP this year and THANK YOU IDPA. I asked this question on another forum and thread about CCP and got no response, maybe I can get one hear, how many people actually "carry" with an optic on their handgun?

If Glock came out with a G19 or 19C 'MOS' gun I would gladly open carry it with a RMR. Not sure how well it would ride in a holster concealed, but worth a try.

While there are people who shoot IDPA for practice on carry gear, there are also people who shoot it solely for the competition aspect. While I have no problem with a class devoted to single stack pistols, I dont feel that the G19 size guns should be limited to 8 rounds to 'even the playing field' If you choose to carry a gun that only has 8 rounds, then your at a disadvantage in real life and competition to someone who has 10+ rounds. I understand and see both sides of the issue. Its a ever evolving world and its hard to keep any sport up to the most recent and advanced technology.

IDPA was founded on the base that the shooters ability trumps the 'equipment races' and I would argue that a M or DM would shoot a G 17, 19 or 34 to the same ability as a XDs or a Shield on the distances that IDPA targets are set. Along with the same skill set as draws and reloads. Enough practice and you can reload a Shield just as fast as a ESP gun.

  3. I like it, I have small hands and had to do a grip reduction on my Glock 19 to be able to shoot it adequately. Up to this division I was consigned to a division where the gun was frankly non competitive.

Not to knock it. I would gladly shoot a G19 in ESP if it had a sweet little magwell and some stippling done to it! I din't want to trash my G19C so I shoot it in SSP and do alright for myself with the gun. It is very competitive in the division

I think it is fairly goofy if they limit the gun to 8 rounds. Yes i understand that the S&W Shield is only 8 or 7 rounds but I feel the division was more geared towards exactly what it says. a Compact pistol. Such as the G19 and smaller or the XD-Compacts or S&W Compacts. Keep it the generally same rules as the SSP just with smaller guns.

If Glock would come out with a 9mm Single stack striker fired then maybe a new division should be put developed for those types of guns. You want to shoot a Shield then you just have to take the hit and only shoot 8 rounds. Sorry its just impossible to make everyone happy.

Also, can someone cite a source where we may have magwells on a G19 size gun or is it just speculation at this point? I reread the IDPA email but didn't extract that from the passage.

I get it from this line......" The division is based on ESP but the guns "........

True, but they could rule out any or all of the modifications of ESP. IE no magwells but trigger work and stippling is allowed.

  6. Been reading around the internets and haven't found a solid answer.

What lens color makes the front sight stand out more. I shoot a Red Fiber optic sight. What lens color is best for me?

I currently shoot a Oakley Deep Blue Iridium Polarized. No issues with the sights, just wondering if there is something out there that could make the front sight pop out a little more. Curve ball for myself, my eyes are super sensitive to light, so the darker the lenses the better. Bonus points if I can get them with my prescription.

  7. But once you get it set up, just use the quick change. It's well worth the investment in my mind. I also never understood why dillion ships the machine with the small powder bar for 223 when the big is so much better.

The G.S. Primer pocket swagger is a life saver on those pesky military crimped 223s.

Once you get going you'll be going just slightly slower than loading 9s!

  8. Also, old people can't be counted on to use the interwebz over a sustained period of time. hahahaha.

    Easy there, whippersnapper.....

Depends on the club, We have one here the scores are put online and emailed out before I even get my car packed up at the range. The other club takes a day or so to get the scores published. Al the older guys do it and run the matches.

  9. I'd like to shoot in CCP with a G19, I also enjoy a G34 in SSP. to me they are the same thing and I shoot my G19 in SSP more than anything.

Worth a shot and it would be fun. As long as IDPA HQ doesn't mess the the rules to much (like that other guy said)

  10. Been on here a while but have always been lurking around. Figured its time to get active on the forums to discuss and learn some new stuff.

I shoot IDPA and USPSA in Tucson, AZ Been shooting since the beginning of 2014. I shoot a custom built 2011 STI in Limited in USPSA. Just got 1st Place C-Limited at the USPSA nationals in St. George in Sept. IDPA I shoot a Glock 19 and a 34.

Looking to get into Single Stack IDPA and Lim-10 and Production USPSA this coming year just for fun.

College student and work at a little gun store down in the Tucson City limits.

Hopefully I'll be able to attend alot more major matches in 2015!

  11. Sorry about the above post, checked Rio Salado web site match is indeed full... Looks like a lot of local folks got aced out. What does everybody think about setting up registration so that Area 2 shooters get first shot (no pun intended).

Give Area 2 shooters say 24 or 48 hours to sign up before any non-sponsored shooters outside Area 2 are allowed to register.

Just a thought, wonder what other folks think about the idea. I think Area 1 does it that way.

I'd agree with that. At least 24 hours. Having never shot it before everyone said to get on it right away. So I was sitting in front of the computer at 430 and just kept clicking refresh and hoped my fingers where faster than everyone else out there.

I also got the "personal Management Link" but havent been able to do anything with it.
