  1. +1 on cast boolits. I am learning to powder coat bullets from that site. Go to this thread: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?241259-Hi-quality-Powder-for-DT-or-Spraying-bullets

This guy has very good powder coatings. More expensive than Harbor Freight, but works good. Here is a link to my first time using his powder: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?257314-2nd-attempt

Here is a link to a thread showing my powder coating booth I am building: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?258394-Almost-done

  2. Figured I'd ask since no one else has yet. Do you have a specific purpose or use in mind for a 300? I would have to agree with cloudy, besides a suppressed sbr the cartridge doesn't excite me any. Not trying to change your mind, but it is easier to help you out if we know what you want out of the build.

Mainly for the fun of it and home defense. Just for something new.

  3. Tell me about the 300 Blackout. Can I change the barrel or upper on an .223 to convert to one? I have a spare AR that doesn't get used much that I could convert. As far as ammo, I reload plus I am now casting bullets. Any suggestions on barrels or uppers? Links to useful information?

  4. Bought one of these to size the bullets I cast, but shell holders would not go on the ram. First RCBS sent a new shell holder thinking that was the problem, but it wasn't so they sent a new ram. Shell holders can be put in this one, but now I need to know how to replace the ram. I thought maybe just punching out the pin would do it, but it doesn't seem to work. Don't want to hammer it too hard for fear of damaging the press. So does anyone know how to do this?

  5. I couldn't find 99% isopropal alcohol so used 91%. I think it just has a little more water so takes a little longer to dry. I love Montana, but you can't always find what you want. If I ever find the 99% I will probably make a different batch. Mine seems to work fine however.

  6. After the prep I will be using a Dillon 550 to load the rounds. I see some people leave station on without a die but still prime on it and others have a universal depriming die in the spot. Is there an advantage to the second way? If so, does it matter which die? Lees can be had for less than 20, others more. I saw a Dillon universal for like 35 on ebay. That is quite a variance in price. However, if one is better than another I don't mind spending the extra money as it is a one time expense.

  7. Thanks for the help. I did deprime/resize about half of my brass today and just finished tumbling it. I will probably do this to the rest of the brass I have and then will trim them with the Giraud tri way trimmer. Then I will see about swaging. I have the Dillon 600 super swage, just don't really know how to tell which ones need it. Most of our once fired brass is federal, pmc and winchester I think, but of course there are most likely others mixed in as we pick them up after we finish our stage and others get mixed in.

  8. I want to deprime/resize some .223 brass this afternoon. Will my homemade lube (liquid lanolin and isopropal alcohol) work for resizing? I also have Dillon (which I think is the same thing basically) and One Shot. However, I have heard that One Shot is not good for rifle, but I don't know as I have never done rifle before.

  9. Thought about that press how do you like it ?

The Partner Press? I have been unable to use it. I mounted it on the bench and couldn't get the primer arm to install. Seemed like the hole was too small. Then a week or so later I tried to put in a shell holder and it would not go in. I had never used anything other than a Dillon so wasn't sure that I wasn't doing something wrong. I called RCBS and they said it was probably a bad shell holder so they sent a new one. It didn't fit either. Then I kind of mistakenly bid on a Rock Chucker and won the bid, not really wanting to win. When it came I tried the shell holders and they slipped right in so I called RCBS again and they are sending out a new ram. Haven't received it yet so don't know if that will solve the problem. So the jury is out on the Partner still. I will say that customer service is for RCBS is outstanding. They will send out parts without any problems.

  10. I mounted the Rock Chucker today using the Inline micro mount. Was not able to mount it far enough back to use through bolts on all 4 mounting holes. Had to use lag bolts on the front two mounting holes of the Inline mount. Hope it holds okay. I still think it is better than if I only used the two mounting holes on the press itself and had to use lag bolts (which I would have had to do). Time will tell I guess.

  11. The Rock Chucker was delivered and shell holders slip right in so I called RCBS again and they are sending a new ram. Ordered a micro ultra mount from Inline Fabrications and it was delivered today. The bench I am mounting it on is about 7 inches higher than the bench my Dillon's are mounted on so didn't think the regular mount would work. The bench has molding on the front which makes it not possible to just mount directly to the bench. Hopefully, this will work. I don't really need two single stage presses, but if I get the Partner to work and can dedicate it to bullet pulling.
