  1. Thanks for the suggestions. It does not fall out when taking out the die. I will either push it out with something smaller or just leave it if that doesn't matter.
  2. I didn't want to hujack the other thread so started a new one. I got my bulge buster kit today and played with it for a few minutes after we got home. I have a most likely stupid question. How do you get the last piece of brass out of the die? Each piece seems to push the one before it up further, but when I stop there is a piece of brass left in the die that doesn't come out. The rod is not long enough to push it all the way through.
  3. I installed the Prairie Dog today. I was only able to screw it in part way, but it looked like the picture they had. I am just not sure how it will work. I put the loc tite on it and left it sit. I will see if it works tomorrow.
  4. I have one of the first generation plates and just couldn't decide if it improved the function or not. Is the new one working well? Do you consider it a big enough improvement to warrant the purchase?
  5. I chroned the rounds at 6.8, 7.0 and 7.2 grains of Longshot. 7.2 gave me average velocity of 1043, extreme spread of 61 and s.d. of 21. I then upped it to 7.5 and got 1066 average velocity, 43 extreme spread and 14 standard deviation. I didn't gain a lot of velocity by going up but did lower the extreme spread and standard deviation. All brass looked fine . I think I will stay there for awhile. It was a fairly pleasant load. That was a power factor of 213. I did not accuracy test, but point of impact seemed closer to point of aim at the higher levels.
  6. I ended up ordering one through ebay and will see how I like it. If I do, I will order another. I am going to have to get some red loc tite though, as I only have blue. Should have thought of that today when I was in town.
  7. I made a few rounds at 6.8 grains and test fired them. They seemed okay so I loaded 11 or so rounds at 6.8, 7.0 and 7.2 grains. If the rain lets up tomorrow I will get out the chronograph and see what we have and go from there.
  8. I would like to try some Longshot that I just got with my 200 grain powder coated cast bullets. Hodgden has only fmj load for 200 grain with a starting load of 7.0 grains and max load of 8.2 grains. Where should I start for cast bullets?
  9. I will be interested in reviews as I would like an easier adjustment. Shipping seems a little expensive.
  10. Doesn't seem like much difference except a little smaller standard deviation and extreme spread.
  11. The last 2 times I have been in Cabelas they have had magnum cci small pistol primers (and large for that matter), but no regular primers. Can I use the magnum primers and if so, do I need to drop charges any?
  12. Was at Cabela's in Kalispell today and they had Longshot, so I picked up a pound to try. I looked it up and it seems that it can be used in several calibers I load for so thought I would try it. Probably should have bought 2 pounds as powder suitable for pistols is not found here often.
  13. Was able to do a few more 10mm rounds today. Seemed to work well. Changed the press over to do 45acp for the wife. Now I wish I had ordered one for 45 acp alos.
  14. I ordered one of these recently and just installed it today. I then had to adjust the die as the new funnel is longer. It seems to do what is supposed to do as it seemed like I did not have to bell the case as much, but I only made one round. Looking forward to trying it more. I ordered one for my 9mm/38 Super from GS custom on ebay. It was a little cheaper. I will see how each one works. If they work then I will order one of those for 45 acp and maybe some of the revolver rounds I use. Anyone used either of these powder funnels?
  15. Good to know. I looked on their site but didn't see this option. They don't have the best website. I will be buying these probably at the start of the new month. Everything costs money!
  16. I will have to keep an eye out for Longshot. Haven't seen any, but really haven't seen much of anything. If I run into something I pick it up. That's how I ended up with some Power Pistol. Hadn't used it, but was in a store and there was some, so bought some.
  17. I had not really thought of that. Probably a good idea.
  18. I loaded 130 grain powder coated cast bullets with 5.0 grains of W231 and oal of 1.280 and got an average velocity of 1107 fps with an extreme spread of 34. However, if you throw out one that was much higher than the rest, the extreme spread was 14. Gives a power factor of 143 so could go lower, but pretty pleased with the results of this load. Even in a lightweight commander recoil was not bad, especially since I have been playing with a 10 mm load and we shoot major in 45 acp and 40 s & w.
  19. Loaded 6.8 grains of Power Pistol at 1.248.oal and got and average of 1100 fps with an extreme spread of 21 and standard deviation of 6. Pretty consistent. Still a power factor of 214, but noticeably less recoil. Think this might be a nice load for everyday use.
  20. I bid on some Starline 38 super brass a few days ago and have not been outbid yet. I realized yesterday that the brass I have is +p while the brass I bid on is not. I am not loading for major and have no plans to as I use my 40 STI for USPSA and 3 gun. I may use the 38 super in IDPA. Should I be concerned about the differences in the brass?
  21. I use tek loks on all of my equipment (holsters, mag pouches, shotgun caddies). I am finding that my belt is pulling down when doing 3 gun. I was thinking of using TMMS so I could take off unneeded things at different stages, but don't know much about them. Which part do you put on which part (hope that makes sense)? Also, do you add extra velcro to certain things to help keep the belt up? It seems by the time I have an Edge, several mags, rifle mags and shotgun caddies it gets pretty heavy and wants to sag. It doesn't seem like there is enough room for the 2 belt parts to mesh and I am not a small guy. I can't imagine being skinny and trying to keep it together. At this point in time I do not want to switch to a whole different system as it would be very expensive and I am retired and not competitive so it won't make much difference that way. Just want to keep the belt together. Thanks. Also it seems there are 2 sizes. Which doe you use?
  22. I don't know how many rounds as it was used when I bought it. I used it several years and then it was stored for about 6 years and now used for a little over a year. Yes I have taken it somewhat apart and cleaned and lubed it up. It works okay, but not as well as the newer one and it is much more finicky with primers than the newer one. I tend to get some primers flipped either completely over and upside down or in sideways whereas the newer one does not seem to do that. I have also aligned it recently.
  23. I am shooting a new stainless Delta Elite. I have shortened my loads to about 1.248 or so and loaded some with 6.8 grains of Power Pistol. The gun cycles fine at that load. I will chronograph them and a 38 super load I am working on when I get a decent day.
