I check springs in action with the camera and it shows (for me) the lighter spring is flatter. And with a decent rail polish, the splits are still fast.

There is a 2nd "test".  back off to 3 yards. Aim at the actual letter A. Rip off a pair as fast as you can. Do that 5-10 times. Record the location and separation (makes you feel all science-like) of the 1st and second hit.  the position of the 2nd hit tells the tail.  2nd low = spring too strong. 2nd high = spring too weak.

That test is hard to actually do and not pause slightly to correct the aim. So track the split time too.

For me, the gun running fast and flat really helps with confidence and shot calling.

    will try

This stuff has turned out to be junk!!!  The first batch I bought was great, clean, metered well, not smokey, and most importantly it was accurate. The other 19lbs I bought is junk. I can't get anything better than a 8" group at 20yrds. Nothing has changed on the press. I have triple checked everything. The guy that went in with me to purchase a crap load of this stuff is experiencing the same issue. Just to try and make it manageable we both changed OAL and tried 1.145, 1.135, 1.125, 1.115, and 1.110. We also tried 3.5, 3.4, and 3.3 which is basically 135pf, 133pf, and 130pf. They only thing we can come up with is that our first batch was from a different lot # and now we are stuck with a bunch of this stuff that is from a different batch #. First batch would consistently get a 2" group at 20yrds and now I'm lucky to get a 8" group at 20yrds. CRAP!!!

Wow! What are the lot# of your old and new Prima V

135 grain ACME bullet, 3.5 grains of Prima V loaded to 1.135 OAL

124 grain ACME bullet, 3.8 grains of Prima V loaded to 1.135 OAL

147 grain ACME bullet, 3.3 grains of Prima V loaded to 1.135 OAL

Can't make up my mind yet which one I like the best but the 135 grain bullet load is in the lead right now.

whats you chrono number/pf with acme 124?

    I am a Prima V user.

The first 30lbs I bought have light gray color to the powder.

However!!!! The 16 lbs I recently bought have very dark gray to black colors of grain. Just like you see from the picture below.

Is this okay? Did they accidently put different powder or something?

I have not loaded with the darker powder batch yet.

    Any ideas?

So far 9mm 124gr rn is the only mold change I am aware of. To bad looks like blues for me, the older acme profile seemed to chamber softer, load longer and just as accurate. Not buying the new profile 124, worst of all they didn't let anyone know or update the web. Acme is not my goto bullet manufacturer anymore.

I just notice this, got some Acme newer 124gr and it wont pass plunk test at 1.25, but the older one I was loading at 1.25 and it  spin freely. Do they change mold to keep up with demand?

DOODS, when you say some throws get fine granules and some get larger ones, are you actually pouring out cases onto a flat surface and spreading it around to check that?  Or are you just looking at the top of the powder in the case?

    Same observation here

  7. in your 'speed mode', are you calling your shots? IMHO, it's no biggie if you have some bad hits in speed mode, as long as you see them. The way I have been getting faster is by hauling azz in speed mode, but only as fast as I can see the sights on the target. As i get faster at doing this, my match mode speed increases too.

Do you do this with live and dry practice? How do you section this in your dry fire/ live?

  8. I've got a box of 500 of the Xtreme 124 gr plated HP in 9mm, and I'd like to load them up for plinking by wife and friends to keep them from shooting up my competition rounds. We'll be shooting them in a Shield, G43, Ruger LCR, CZ P01 and CZ 75 Compact. I've got Bullseye, Unique, Titegroup and VV N320. I can also get N330 and N340. Looking for low-mid velocities. What say ye?

    N330? You must be overseas
