Practice Practice Practice.
Practice does seem to be the key to success. I decided to stick with the Glock for at least this season. I shot a match today and it looks like I’m going to start out at the high C/low B level after a few more classifiers.
I used my old carry style gear today but have the parts ready to assemble a proper setup for the next match. A generous member of this board sent me a Blade Tech holster body. I ordered a belt, hanger, and mag pouches to compete the rig. I also bought some DP sights to finally get rid of the factory pieces and a few commonly recommended springs. I’m excited about the next match with my new equipment. -
Is there any reason to not go with the +0 TTI pads since we will soon have 4 ounces to play with for USPSA Production? I was planning on getting the +3/4's but I assume the +0's may be more trouble free due to the factory spring position over the 3/4's. Also, I wonder if the extra weight may be too much of a good thing.
Thoughts?

Thanks BritinUSA,
One thing that the Boss gets right is the replaceable spacers to address this issue. I’m assuming all those you listed are fixed? -
Thanks for the comments.
A shooting buddy has offered to loan me his rig with the Blade Tech and Boss until I get a setup. That’ll at least give me real world time with the BT holster and Ghost pouches to see if the BOSS causes me problems similar to CHA-LEE’S and to evaluate the pouches.
Also, another member here has generously offered to send me a BT DOH and some sights for just the shipping charges but I haven’t heard from him in a few days so that may fall through. If that offer works out I’ll probably just buy a belt and pouches to get me by and possibly buy a hanger later if needed. I’ve discovered that I can’t afford to buy powder and primers locally and need to allocate some money to a large powder, primers and bullets order. -
I may end up doing that but I was trying to avoid the extra cost. I’m just getting started and I’m trying to make sure I only have to buy my gear one time.

Anyone use both and can compare with experience?
The Boss seems to be the safe choice but I’m leaning toward the RHT kit with racer pouches and his holster with the Springer hanger because the racer pouches seem to have a larger following than the Ghost models from BSPS.
-
Thanks B_RAD, sounds like solid advice. Come to think of it, I’ve been trying to decide on which spring kit and whether to buy a striker or not with full knowledge that I don’t have any issues with the factory trigger.

Interesting! I was reading about guide rods, springs and base plates this weekend. I guess at some point you can add too much weight? I think I’ll have 4 ounces to play with in a few months.
Does anyone know if an equivalent weight at the end of the mag or the guide rod is more advantageous for recoil management? -
Thanks guys, I think the decision is made. I'm going to stick with the 34 for at least the rest of this year. I'm researching mag pouches and holsters now.

I’ve owned Glock’s for well over a decade and have recently started shooting USPSA production with a G34 and mostly carry gear with a CompTac paddle holster. I’m doing well for my experience level but need a proper rig and sights to replace the stock plastic parts. I plan to shoot 2 matches per month.
Should I go ahead and switch to an S2 before I invest in sights and a holster for my G34? I understand that I’m the weak link at this point but most people in my area are using the steel guns and I’m assuming that is for good reason.
I’d say the only issues I can name for the Glock is that it doesn’t point naturally for me but I don’t notice it during live fire. Also, I hang up on reloads more than I should. I wonder if the CZ has as many little edges to stick on?
I’m over 40 and need reading glasses but shoot uncorrected with no issues. I wonder if I’ll struggle with the shorter sight radius of the Shadow 2?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

How would you keep guns that you don’t approve of out of your new compact class? I’m sure there is a heavy 4” barreled pistol out there somewhere that functions and can accept good sights. It’d be only a matter of time before a Shadow 2 short is born. It is just the nature of the beast!

Doh! I’m sorry I recommended the CompTac. I looked at mine after I posted and thought there would be plenty of room for a larger mag release.
Let us know how it turns out so hopefully someone else may keep 1 more holster out of their drawer. -
I have a couple Trojans and use the Comp-Tac International for USPSA with no issues.
-
Don’t laugh! They may be able to catch you in the summer.

If you truly want to get to a mile with a 6.5 Creedmoor then check on how much adjustment you’ll need. I think you’ll have a hard time getting there with a standard 20 MOA base and a centered scope.
-
I have an older Mark 4 LRT M3 3.5x10 that will do anything most people can do with a rifle. You can see anything you’ll hit with a typical precision rifle to at least 1,000 yards. I also have a 5.5x22 Nightforce that is also a great scope but I got the Leupold used for about half the cost. I actually prefer the goldish reticle in the Leupold just from an aesthetic standpoint. I’ve only used both in known distance competition so I can’t speak to the usefulness of the reticle options.
With all that said, I’ve been out of the game for a long time. Leupold may not be “in” right now but I doubt you’ll be unhappy with one of their higher end scopes as long as it suits your mission. -
So the Wilson stuff is mim?
Thanks,
Tom
No, just cheaper.

This^^^. +1
Absolute genius! I know long time shooters that can crush another persons hand with a handshake but at best, are mediocre shooters.

Interesting method. I can't wait to try it!

Can you use the 60 grain bullet or does it have to be discarded? [emoji1]

23-24.5 of varget with 77's will do it.
This sounds about right. 25 grains of Varget is VERY hot in my bolt gun. 23.5 is just right and works as far as you should be shooting.

Do you like the new Production rules?

It’s no wonder why this is such a mess when the norm is to constantly try redefining clearly defined rules
Same as above. Wow!
