I think omitting their scores from the upload is an elegant solution.

I think that would be a perfect solution if their scores were in a separate division in practiscore and were then deleted from the upload to SCSA.  I have not asked directly but I assume that the people who regularly shoot the "novice" division where I shoot want to know their scores without having to write it down themselves after every run.

  2. SCSA MISSION STATEMENT

     – Our mission is to promote safe, fair and fun participation in Steel Shooting competition, for members of all ages and skill levels, through effective leadership, education, communication and administration.

We have 8 different divisions for centerfire pistols which is about six too many.  Why not have a separate division for people that want to shoot a centerfire pistol but don't feel comfortable drawing from a holster?

It seems like a better solution than just omitting their USPSA number like you suggest.

I sure wish Glen hadn't affiliated.  I think I'm getting real close to being done with steel challenge.

  3. One novice division for anybody that wants to shoot a centerfire pistol from low ready.  At the monthly match I shoot there are usually 2-5 people shooting it every month.  In comparison there are probably 2-5 revolver entries per year.

It seems wrong to misrepresent people's scores in publicly published results whether they are used for classification or not.

I'd just as soon see Production, Single Stack and Limited lumped together in steel challenge as long as the gun "divisions" were shown on the results.  There aren't enough people shooting SS to be meaningful (wife and I in that group).  Carry Optics seems like a gimmick to advertise guns. but I'm in CA where few carry.  How about CFPI, CFPO and Open for centerfire handguns?  Open would be no holds barred and the other two divisions would limit mods to current Limited.  If you're an ace working toward a win in CFPI then you would gravitate toward a Limited configuration gun and race holster.  The rest of us are just trying to improve and don't begrudge a great shooter winning our division with "better" equipment.

Centerfire pistol should be two divisions.  Irons or Optics.  Use any safe holster configuration you like.

    Revolver: don't care

Rimfire and PCC: make them have production,  limited and open divisions,  if the centerfire divisions can't be consolidated.

Yes proper procedure despite it not being too prudent, nor really needed. With all the near single action striker guns out there, and proven to not make much difference in match scores, I dont really get the arbitrary division of single and double action. Maybe made sense when there were actual double and singles, but now with the blurred line of striker guns. I really dont think it matters.

Yes, steel challenge has way too many divisions.

  6. I clean my Glock once a month, right before the first of two monthly matches.  Sometimes a fairly detailed cleaning and sometimes just a quick wipe.  I generally shoot about a thousand rounds per month, matches and practice.  It's just a part of getting ready for the match for me.  I have no interest in seeing how long it can go between cleanings and sure don't want to find out during a match.

I very rarely clean the bore and whenever I do I think that was a big waste of effort since nothing much comes out.  I only shoot plated and jhp.

If all you're concerned about is proper disposal then put them in a vice and set them off with a hammer and nail.

I like the way you think.  I'm curious what people think is going to happen if one does go off, assuming you don't have an open container of gasoline or black powder next to your bench.  I loaded some with one of those  Lee kits when I was a teenager.  The kind where you beat the primer in with a mallet.  I popped quite a few with that thing, still have all fingers and eyes.
