I've had moderate success with a lousy diet and very little exercise.
The extra weight makes for a more steady shooting platform, not to mention all that extra belt space for mags.

LCRW does their UCIW stock, which is almost as short as the Troy, and doesn't require a proprietary BCG. I have one an my 8" .300BLK gun, I love it.

Outstanding match, and a truly awesome video. To put together a video that good in 2-3 days... impressive stuff, to say the least. If that was done by an outside contractor, hire them again. If it was done by Trijicon people, pay them more.
Can't say enough good things about the match... Larry and AJ, the Trijicon folks, the Rockcastle folks... everyone did a heck of a job. I'd be happy to RO this one again next year.

I'd think an equally interesting question would be:
Is there a place in our sport for rifle shots less than 60 yards ???
I don't want to see the close/fast rifle stuff go away either.
The rifle is by far the most "range-versatile" member of the small arms family... we should be celebrating this, not limiting it.

Got my stage assignment. Getting pretty stoked about this... even though I'm gonna get smoked even worse than usual. I've never shot any sort of bullseye pistol or clay games other than the demo at FNH one year.

In a pre-practiscore (or even pre-computer) world, the simplicity of cumulative time scoring made some sense. Nowadays it just makes shorter stages irrelevant to final outcome. If a shooter shoots a given stage twice as fast as everyone else, it should count the same toward the total match outcome whether that time was 30 seconds or 130 seconds.... he/she was still twice as fast as everyone else.
And it's not like I have some personal stake in any of this. Until some match introduces "Dan's timer starts on the next-to-last-target" scoring system, I'm not clamoring for anything except a good spot in the chow line.

Best. Division set. Ever.
Needs "Action Hero Boomstick" though... .

The only thing I know about the Easy Loader is that if you bump it while scraping carbon out from under the extractor it lets the bolt fly forward with enough force to easily embed said extractor all the way into your thumb. And that really, really hurts. And bleeds a lot.

Is anyone that shot this match going to shoot the Trijicon Shooting Challenge in a few weeks?
A head-to-head comparison of these two very similar format matches would be enlightening.

Gonna make "round dumping" a lot easier for gamers to defend.

Signed up, looking forward to it. Now to decide which gun to shoot...

I recently went from a fixed stock to the Magpul CTR. It has a extra "lock" that tightens it up pretty darn wobble free, and the ability to shorten up the rifle comes in handy sometimes.

I use an Eotech for the red dot, and end up taking a lot of rifle shots with it (I've trained a BUNCH with Eotechs and I'm very comforable engaging targets out fairly far).
Dropping the 1X requirement opens up "reasonably priced" optics choices dramatically. Nikon does a Monarch 2-8X with their BDS reticle that I really, really like for Open... and it's about $300.

I keep saying I'm going to upgrade, but I can't find anything I like better for less than a grand, and even those I don't like better "enough" to drop that much money. Having the 8X on top is just about perfect, IMHO, and 2X works well for small targets up close and no-shoot traps.

Heck, I don't know... just trying to get a little buzz going for this match that's only about a month away now. Wasn't trying to put you on the spot, Larry.
Any rules/stage info ready for release yet? Cool pictures of some of the sexy stuff shooters will get to use?

Just an "Action" match for Garands would be a hoot. I've shot the WWII division at TX, and even shot the same gear in the Pro-Am one year. It's probably the most fun I've had at a match.

Any new intel on this match now that the shotgun world shoot is wrapped up?

Just seems to keep getting closer and closer to Bullseye with vests....

Another vote for the Inforce. I have a couple of the IR capable ones and I really like them. Great switching, very low profile, very tough.

12+1 means you can load 4 at the buzzer (at most matches). 13+1, IMHO, doesn't really gain you much that you're ever going to use.

I used to play a lot of volleyball, and I think that background helped me.
Passing is great for hand-eye coordination, setting is good for hand/forearm strength and dexterity, hitting is good for explosive speed. All of it is great for footwork.

It's really only practical (as in, can be used to its potential) in Open.
Of course, Open is pretty awesome....

For rifle, I'm always in the sight.
You used to see rifle targets big/close enough to "muzzle index" in this game, but I haven't seen one at a major match in a long time. Those little mini-IPSC targets have made a big difference on what can be done with rifle stages in small berms.

Started, Building 5 rifle rated spinners today. 1 for our range , 4 for guys who like paracticing the 'carnival shooting'
One thing they do that no other target does , is patience and timing.
Patience, if you wait for ever for it to present again,
Timing, so you don't stop it , when just one more shot could have had it spinning like a propeller
Patience & Timing, if you want to risk shooting another target or two in between.
It does indeed reward patience and timing.... But isn't our entire game geared toward hitting targets as fast as possible?

Basically it was asking the clay thrower to do something to wasn't really designed to do, and the RO to do something humans just aren't that great at.
2 or 3 birds, activated by one of the targets, would have made for a better stage. But it's easy to monday morning QB stuff. I don't think the clay presentation presented anyone with a grossly unfair target presentation, or gave anyone a significant unfair advantage.
Besides, I cussed the tiny little rifle shooting box on that stage a heck of a lot more than the birds!

I really wish Pachmayr would bring back their Vindicator grip for ARs. I have couple, and that plus a flatt trigger puts the trigger exactly where it's supposed to be for me.
