  1. The jam you describe in the initial post is a short stroke jam, not related directly to the extractor or loading of the magazines. It would seem that for some reason the slide is not going back fully, if it was the case being extracted would be kicked off the extractor hook. Since the gun is trying to re-chamber that spent case with another we can assume that the slide didn't go back far enough for the ejector to knock the case out of the extractors grip. It is going almost all the way back, since it is picking up a fresh cartridge.

Recoil spring buffers in the gun? Have you changed ANYTHING else other than loading the mags and shooting it?

I agree. A newer gun with a factory recoil spring that is waaaay to heavy is a sure way to short stroke a 1911. Try a 10lb recoil spring with a .090 to .125 shock buff. That should take care of the problem. Make sure the pistol is well oiled.

  2. the decockers on right where my thumb goes..but as mention..others have no problem with it.

if you get it..ship it to Angus or Matt..and have them work it over..

the main differences externally between the three...decocker vs manual safety..Shadow does not have a firing pin block. etd mag release, ext ambi safeties.

internally the decocker uses one hammer hook on the sear..the other side is not there to make clearance room for the decocking lever.

from the start positition..the manual safety version and the Shadow will start with the hammer all the way down, the Tactical from the decocked position..if that makes a difference to you.

SP01 is a great gun..loved mine, but I have gone back to a lighter gun for the time being.

Stay away from the Sig. You will be really disappointed when it self destructs at around 10k rounds. Any of the CZ models are great. The decocker does take a little getting used to enjoy your choice.

  3. I would like to say thank you to Linda, Jack, and Donnie for all their hard work each of you put into this match. A great match does not run itself. I am proud to say the SC sectional is one of the finest level two matches in the country. It seems the word is getting out though, with shooters coming all the way from Canada to play with us; it was great to shoot with them as well as the many other fine shooters that attended a great match. A big thank you all for your hard work to all the match staff, thank you to all the competitors that attended, thank you to all the sponsors that donated prizes, and I hope to see you all soon at another match.

  4. Leaving Friday morning for the match. See you all there.

I am NOT shooting this match (so you do have a chance) but I did make sure there are NUMEROUS low ports JUST FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Darn! And I have been practicing with my eight year old just so I could get used to looking down for the little guys. My little boy is really going to be disapointed that all his hard work was in vain. See ya at SC in a few weeks.

  5. I settled on Clays several years ago for both 180 and 200 gr bullets. If I was going to change it would be to tightgroup, but why use what's second best??

    Oh, Thems Fightin Words!! :P

Check with the top 16 at the nationals and see what they are actually using. I think you would be suprised at how many are using Clays. I can think of at least five off the top of my head that use or have used Clays. VV 330, VV 320, and Tightgroup are also used.

I do have to concede that if I was using a Glock with the bullets loaded to factory OAL I would use Tightgroup in a second over any other powder available, but I have never tried my STI with factory stuff so I would have some reliability concerns at factory length. Hope this helps.

  6. I picked one up a few weeks ago on gunbroker for just over 1000 shipped. It has the vent rib and small fiber optic front sight. I ran 150 rounds through it yesterday. It was perfect. I am still kicking myself for not buying one of these sooner. These shotguns rock!

Anyone have a picture of the Benelli M2 field with the 21 inch barrel? I was wondering if the shorter barrel had a rib on it.

    Benelli M2 21"

I would have bought one today if Sportsman's Warehouse had a 21"

  7. You think the M or GM has the secret handshake or the magic bullet? <_<

You think they jump into their pants both legs at one time.

You think their stuff don't stink.

    Yes! :goof:

Ok, not really... I've shot with guys of every skill level. I know it's not some magic, just a LOT of work to reach the top.

As for the results and my bet!!! I won, and I lost... crap!

I was rooting for TG and my buddy is a hard-core Clays user. Both are great powders but with a different feel. We always argue who's was better (doesn't everyone?) and it kind of errupted into this quite lengthy post :surprise:

Anyway, thanks to all the Ms and GMs that made this happen, and even the A, B, C, D, U that undoubtedly voted anyway.

  8. Take a close look at the photograph and read through what I've done. The procedure has worked for me on all the tubes (15) I've bought in the past 2 years and several that belong to friends. As Howard says, the earlier tubes generally work without modification. When you file, take LESS than you think you need and fit slowly - or send them to Howard and get them done right.

As you can see, I lengthened the mag catch hole horizontally just enough to allow the mag catch to seat all the way. I generally don't move the hole vertically (only had to do that once). Aside from the fact that SVI .38 Super tubes will run 9mm without a spacer, they also sit a fraction higher in the frame.

Take the slide off and insert the empty tube into the frame - you should be able to see the mag catch and where it interfears with the the hole even with a C-More mounted. Remove metal from the front (as indicated) until it just locks into the frame - then remove a fraction more. Polish the edges. You could do it all with a Dremel but I prefer to work with a file. I have a small rat tail that mics about 5/64" that I use.

    Edited for typo

Buddy of mine just bought four of these with a similar problem. The catch had to be opened vertically instead of horizontally. The magazines would not even catch in four different guns. He relieved the top of the catch opening and got them to seat. I'm not sure if he has tested them yet or not.

  9. CMMG has a 18" SPR barrel for about 250.00. These are great shooters. These barrels are offered in either carbine, mid, or rifle length gas systems. You can order them drilled for a FSB or left blank for a JP type gas block. The barrels are a SPR profile.

  10. Did it look lilke this??

    mossbergdefenseshotgun.jpg

That is a Mossberg 930 Tactical - and it looks suspiciously like a Winchester Super X-2 Mk. II or FN Tactical autoloader - only the Mossberg only costs approximately $497.44.

    Any other reviews?

    Does the Mossberg 930 = Winchester Super X-2 ???

No it is almost identical to the SX3 or is it SX4? Whatever the newest one is they came out with. I have about 400 rds through mine and it is simply awsome. I'll shoot it at the Carolina Tactical Invitational this weekend. I report back as to how it does. I have shot two local matches with it so far with no hiccups. The only issue is slug groups. At 55yds it groups about 4 inches. The barrel has a single fiberoptic bead on the front. It need a mid bead for more precise shooting. This is the only gripe, if you can call it that, that I have. I have been very impressed with it so far. The 930 in the picture is a 3" shell length, the 935 will handle the 3.5" shells. It took a bit of tuning to get it to run with the light bird buck and slug rounds used in competition but the results so far have been well worth it. The only uncertainty about the gun will be its longevity. Spare parts do not seem to be available for this gun. We'll see what kind of service life I get out of it. PM me if you want to know what I had to do to get it to run on the light stuff. I can include specs for every cut I made.

  11. No the die is not new but like I said I had previously resized 300 rds. of oncefired brass and 50 rds.

of new PMC brass without a problem.

Too much lube on the outside of the case. This will cause the case to dent in the location you are referring. Try sizing some cases with just a little lube on them and see if that fixes the problem.
