  1. I broke down and bought one of these and ran about 6 pounds of 9mm case tonight. I ran the cases, a little bit of dawn, about a 9mm case of lemishine, Water to the rib of the barrel, and 5 pounds of pins for 2 hours. Once the pins were separated, I put the cases in my retired food dehydrater for about a hour and a half at 150 degrees and I'm pretty happy with the results.

I don't know if I need to tweek my mixture or not yet but so far so good.

  2. I looking for some input on the xtreme plated 124gr hollow points, 135 gr flat nose, and/or the 147gr hollow points in 9mm. I currently use 124 rn in my m&p pro with good results with bullseye powder but am wondering if you guys think heavier/ hollow points might yield better accuracy.

Anyone have any input on these bullets?

  3. I recently bought a choke tube set from brownells for my 930. They call it the 3 gun choke set they are extended Carlson chokes they are great look nice and easy to change during competition. They were on sale 100 for 3 chokes not a bad deal IMO.

I haven't seen those, I'll have to check those out.

  4. I guess I've been pretty lucky. When I got my JMPro, the spring was folded and doubled up inside the tube. After I replaced the spring and put in a GG&G follower, I've had zero issues...no malfunctions of any kind. I only use bulk Federal ammo and Fiocci low recoil slugs.

I didn't know gg&g made a follower for the 930. Mine has ran flawless with the pink federal shells so I'm kinda on the fence of fixing something that isn't broke.

What kind of spring did you use? Is it thicker than stock? Longer?

  5. Maybe I'm in the minority here but I've been to the ER twice for a metal shaving in my eye. Both times I was wearing safyeu glasses and both times at work using a portaban just above my head. It's like slow motion seeing a piece of metal shaving drop down and bounce off the inside of my safety glasses and right into my eye.

Spent 33 years in the machining business and also ended up twice in the ER with metal chips that snuck in from the side but I cannot begin to count the number of times safety glasses saved my vision. I recall stopping by an employee who was precision grinding multiple parts on a surface grinder. He set up the auto cycle and started it without turning on the magnetic chuck. The result was the 24" diameter x 2" wide grinding wheel spinning 3600 rpm exploding and pelting us with shrapnel. We both had multiple bleeders but what shook me the most was the large gouge in the left lens. The chunk of aluminum oxide grinding wheel hit my glasses with such force that the frame impact on my eyebrow it split open and needed stitches.

I'm sure the glasses have saved my ass more than twice but its always the hospital trips I remember more than the near misses...

  6. Great, now shooter's source has sock of the nordic barrel, but no coupon for it :(

Makes me wonder if that being in stock and there being a coupon available are related... hmm...

I thought the same thing when the sale was going on and I was eyeing a Nordic barrel which was out of stock...

  7. Hey thanks guys for the prompt replys..

I must apologise for the early morning post... Wasn't considering the time difference.

I haven't noticed any pressure issues, but I'm no expert. The older guys at my local range did seem surprised but could offer no explanation. I'll post a pic of a couple I shot off today and you guys may be able to see something I can't.

Accuracy didn't seem to be affected and I didn't have a chrono to verify fps difference. As for 1 1/2s compared to 5 1/2s I thought the only difference was cup thickness?

I think that is the only difference between the Remington primers but that's the only thing I can think of why you might get a flash unless the primers are letting gas by like what was mentioned in another post.

  8. maybe a dumb question, but why most competitive rear sights, black blade types as opposed to fiber optic sights in the rear? i want to upgrade the sights on my CZ75B and have been looking into the 2 dot FO rear sights but most (all?) comp sights seem to be a solid black with no FO.

For me it's just too much going on with rear fiber sights. I need to focus on the front sight and target.

I think of it like looking through a window at a bird or squirrel and the window being my rear sights. I don't care what the drapes or curtains on or near the window look like, I'm looking through the window at the bird and focusing on it, the same way I'm looking through the rear sights focusing on the front sight. If I get to seeing too much of the "curtains" in my sight picture I'm not seeing my front sight correctly.

  9. I currently have single stage RCBS Rock Chucker and am trying to find progressive, leaning toward a Dillon 550. My question is in regards to any progressive presses really. I have very seldom had to trim pistol brass because the brass is over the max length but I have had to trim some 223 brass. How does this work with a progressive since you can't measure until after sizing? Do most just put them in the press and go or do people sort and load only the same head stamps or am I way overthinking this?
