  1. Grabagun is good people, haven't had a problem with them in the past. Centerfireguns sent me an instock notification on the 24" today as well, so that would be an alternative to you guys too. They show a 24" right next to the 21" but it's a weird model number and the description is alarming. It is also just a little bit cheaper which is even more alarming.
  2. I wanted to give an update on my 21" I just received. I've taken mine to the indoor range twice in the last week, really just for testing., 225 rounds total through it. One thing I've learned...DO NOT BUY THE WINCHESTER BULK AT WALMART. It just does not seem to work near as good as the Federal BULK. (Winchester doesn't seem to work that great in my 30" 1975 1100 either). First range trip: Ran about 150 rounds through it. Ran flawless, no failure to eject, no failure to feed. Did not always lock the bolt back unless I fired the last 2 shots back to back (possibly using the gas built up in the system?) (in the attached picture, for shells on the RIGHT it reliably held bolt open on last round under normal conditions (no fast firing). Shells on the LEFT, did not always hold bolt open on last round, but cycled reliably. between trips I lightly lubed bolt and action with CLP. Did not disassemble, just did best i could while assembled Also wiped out any carbon chunks in action/chamber. Installed Nordic +3, using stock magazine spring. Installed TRS-25 red dot on vent rib using rib rider that I slightly modified. http://www.amazon.com/AimTech-Rider-Remington-1100-1187/dp/B00FL2DKXQ (note that I had the red dot installed a different way in the picture with the 12 gauge shells, it is now installed with the rib rider and I have not used it yet but expect it to work good. Second range trip about 75 rounds. functioned flawlessly. Could not duplicate the last bolt hold open issue from first trip. (shot the 2 3/4 DRAM loads without a problem with last round bolt hold open...) Great shotgun, can't wait to blow up some clays!
  3. I've got a 21" barrel model. If I want it to get a magazine tube extension that is flush (or slightly less than flush) with the end of the barrel, Would I get the +3 model? It looks like a lot of you guys run Nordic. Are there other models more economically priced that work just as good? Looks like they are all $50-100. Can I usually buy an extra spring for the nordic? In case I cut the first one too short? (feel free to comment "I have the Nordic +3 and cut the spring X inches past the end of the tube and it works great"....I would appreciate this input!)
  4. Does anybody make a picatinny rail for the 1301 that is reasonably priced? The only one I've found is $130. More than $10 is too much but I'd pay up to $40! Has anyone 'adapted' another gun's picatinny rail to this shotgun? If so, what thread are the receiver holes? Thanks!
  5. Pat, do you have a good reference link on how all this math works? I'm relatively new to shotgunning and would love to learn the technical aspect of it! Thank you. Light modified is 2 steps back from an improved modified. LM is a .015" constriction while IM is .025 constriction. If you have a barrel that measures .740" (this is a hypothetical diameter as I don't know what the 1301 barrel diameter is) and put in a LM choke, the exit diameter of the choke tube will be .725". With an IM exit diameter will be .715". Keep in mind that the exit diameters may vary a bit so you get what you pay for. Pat
  6. Well, my 1301 has finally shipped. Hopefully I will be able to take it out early next week. Should I take it apart and lube it? or run it as is? If I should clean and lube it, I assume that the design is very similar to the A400? Anything more I need to do to it than this video suggests? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdGl_6JoUWU He very lightly oils the rotating mechanism in the bolt, and some light oiling of the rails. runs piston and gas system completely dry as I would expect. I have Slip 2000 EWL, EWL 30 (kinda thick), and CLP. What do you guys suggest I use? Thank you!
  7. Thank you. I think my B-Square vent-rib picatinny mount will fit. It is max 3/8". Can't wait to get this beast in my hands! .375 = 3/8"
  8. Does anyone have a picatinny rail mounted on theirs that is a reasonable price? The only one I've seen so far is $100. If someone could measure the width of the vent rib I would appreciate it; i have a vent rib mount laying around that may work for my needs. (I just ordered mine yesterday and don't have it yet) Thanks!
  9. Not real impressed with Bud's lately. They delivered 2 rifles to the incorrect address this weekend (FFL information was wrong in their database). Emailed them this morning and have not heard back. They are generally slow shipping too. $940 still a good deal though, especially if you have something else you plan on buying with the money.
  10. I appreciate the response on reliability etc guys. I went for it, just ordered a 21" model. Decided that it will work just great for me, fit in my range bag great, ETC. Perhaps important too, it is available....ordered it for 999 from Centerfire in Colorado. Nice people to deal with so far; they pricematched down to another seller's price but with shipping said that is as low as they could go. If you guys get a chance, will you post what fiber optic sights you are running? Also, can someone measure the width of the rib on the barrel? I'm wanting to put a red dot on it and b-square makes a nice looking rail that attaches to the barrel rib. I have read this complete thread a couple of times now, looks like carlson's extended chokes are the way to go from Optics planet. Somebody was saying theirs was not accurate with slugs with included chokes but can't recall which one i needed to order. (Wish there was a search thread only feature ) I hope this is a running sonofagun; I'm pretty frustrated with my lemon 712.
  11. Mind posting a picture of this when you have time?
  12. Thanks for the information gentlemen. I'm pretty frustrated with my CZ 712 Utility; got it back from CZ and it's still doing the same thing (FT eject/extract). Can't wait to upgrade to the 1301 when available. I searched google and you guys are right...no 24's available on the first several search results pages. Trying to debate in my mind do I wait on the 24 or go for the 21. Is there anything the 24" does better than the 21? The 21 will more easily fit in my range bags. This is for fun, target shooting for me. Anything that I can't do well with the 21 and the correct choke per application? Thanks!
  13. I'm still considering buying one of these 1301's. Do they beretta 1301's run the cheap Walmart bulk shells well? Any particular reason to get the 24" over the 21"? I would kind of want it for an all-purpose shotgun. (would like to shoot clays with it as well. Will the 24" be more reliable than the 21" (placement of gas ports relative to barrel length etc). Attached are pictures of the walmart bulk. Does anyone know where I can find a 24" under 1k that is not in Texas (no sales tax). Thanks guys!
  14. Well good news boys, my 712 utility that I mailed back 10/23 was just dropped off at FedEx today 11/7. That's pretty good turnaround I'd say. I hope it runs like hot butter when I get it back on monday!
  15. Where is the box I type my mailing address?
  16. Thanks for the replies Lead-Head and davehorn. That is exactly what I was hoping to hear. I'll see how the CZ runs when I get it back, I might be upgrading to a 1301.
  17. Like another poster on here, I have a CZ 712. Bought it new and had problems from the get go. Currently it is at CZ undergoing tuning/repair. Don't have it back yet but a little frustrated after doing a ton of research on it. Anybody have any issues with the 1301? I am most interested in how many rounds can I run through it without malfunction? I saw the number 100 thrown on here for the FN SLP's. Will these 1301's run all day on light loads? I want to run the cheap bulk packs of Federal and Winchester at walmart. Will the 1301 do it? Is there a simple screw on recoil pad for the 1301, (around $30 or so) or is the $250-$300 KO the only option? How long is factory warranty on 1301? Is Beretta one of those companies, like Ruger, that doesn't "have a warranty" but if you have a problem they fix it for you anyway? Thanks guys!
  18. I sent you a PM asking some more info on 1301 so I don't hijack this thread .
  19. I had to send my 712 back to CZ, it was new and wasn't cycling right. I'm dying to hear what you think of the 1301....I have been looking at them extensively since sending the CZ in.
  20. Hello guys, Well I got to take my (basically new) CZ 712 out this weekend. Unfortunately it performed terribly. I used the shells I got (in quoted message, some 3.0 DRAM some 3.25 DRAM) and to my surprise it was able to jam every one of them. On 2 occasions the shell was stuck and I had to disassemble the gun to get it out. (no amount of yanking on the undersized charging handle could free it). It was cleaned and lubricated with Slip 2000 EWL. (before I had it lubricated with Slip 2000 EWL 30 So, I guess not every one is perfect. Damn! I'll call CZ and get it into them today or tomorrow. Hopefully they get me into something that runs great! Thanks, I've got 100 rounds of Federal, 100 of the Winchester, (both are 3.0 DRAM). Good to know...if it doesn't run on those federals, I'll be sending it back to cz. (I don't own guns that are picky) I've got 250 RIO (3.25 DRAM) from academy, I think they *should* work even better. I got my Akita stock and my tom buster II sights on I'm ready to rock! Hope the CZ can get 'r dun! Thanks for the info guys!

  22. Squirrel Burner, It is the full range of standard shotgun chokes, and the marks go from most restrictive to cylinder bore. Sorry, I'm new to shotgunning, can't remember which way it goes...I learned all this in the manual, and then wrote on the chokes with permanent marker which one they were.
