    G 19 in Green

Hey guys. Just got a new G 19 in Green tonight. ( Late Christmas) Now the question. This Glock has to have the best out of the box trigger pull I have ever felt. Anyone else finding great trigger pulls out of the box? After a polish job, Shearer 3.5 connector and trigger spring replacement it got way good, in fact too good. First time around it was way too close to a 2# pull. (Would not hold 2.5#)I had to back track to get it to hold 3.25#. And now it is just right and oh soooo smoooooth. Now all I need is for the Heinie Slant Pro rear sight and the Dawson F/O front to come in and life will be good. The bad news is it is going to rain for the next four days and the range is calling, dang it !!!!!! Thanks I just had to tell somebody about all this.
  3. Thanks for the responce guys. I just wanted to hear some of your reasons. On another note my new Green G17 is sitting at my favorite gun shop while I am sitting in Dallas working. Dang it. I have to buy this one to replace the G19C my wife took after her first ever range visit. She was addicted after only one magazine full. Well at least she has good taste, except maybe for her taste in husbands.
  4. Maybe I'm just lucky. I have heard of two, counting the one you just told me about, titanium firing pins having problems. I have seen one stock FP and heard of three with chipped ends. Gotta admit that there are way more stock FPs around here, maybe 1000 to 1, so that is not a good comparison. I guess I will keep better shooting logs and see if/when mine bites the dust. I am confident that this Glock has over 10,000 rounds through it, but don't remember at what point I installed the firing pin. I would guess somewhere around the 2 or 3,000 mark. But that would flat be a guess. I only asked the question as I have read the comment several times on this and other boards. Thanks for your input.
  5. Not to bring a flame war down on my head, but why the negative feelings about Titanium firing pins? The reason I ask is I have had one in one of my older Glocks,1997. It has fired many thousands of rounds and it has never been a problem. I just inspected it while cleaning, after a range session, and can't find any unusual wear or any other problem. By the way I checked it under a magnifying lamp just to be sure. Now the kicker. This is a gun I have carried for years, and never gave it,Ti firing pin, a thought. I think any part can fail, I just don't get the whole don't carry anything other than stock mind set. I think you should prove any part before carrying it, but after all pistols are full of parts. It just seems like some put too much faith in stock over aftermarket. Yes there is some junk aftermarket parts out there, but stock parts fail too. Check any police training pistol range. FWIW: I worked as a gunsmith as my profession for seven years and I'm a retired LEO Sergeant from the Major Crimes Unit. So I have been to a few court proceedings and never seen a modification to a gun used in open court. Sorry Massod (SP)? Just a question, am I missing something? Thanks in advance for not flaming me on this. Thanks
  6. Totally I just finished reading this thread and the word was totally missing.
  7. I now feel much better about the whole rulebook mess. My $$ will be in the mail for dues. I would like to thank Bill for the comments.

Who did the slide work? And what magwell is that? Looks very nice.
  9. As of 10:12 pm 9 Jan. 2005 Why Do You Shoot IDPA? As training for a possible real-life gunfight [ 0 ] [0.00%] To have fun and (ideally) win a game [ 42 ] [66.67%] Both [ 21 ] [33.33%] Total Votes: 63 It does my heart good to see 0.00% for the first question.
  10. I am an ex LEO and carry every day. As others have stated my carry gun is illegal it's holster is a Yaki (SP) slide from Galco so I don't know if it is OK or not. I bought a gun and all the equipment just for the game so, I lose. No big deal as there are other venues to make use of this gear. But I really wanted to give this IDPA stuff a try. The reason I haven't done so sooner is all my friends shoot IPSC, GSSF, PPC and bullseye and they kept telling me strange stories about this sport. I.E. reloads, cover, moving and so on. I finally said to heck with it and bought all the stuff and read all the rules, ...ready.. set .. nope every thing you just bought, except the belt, is a no go. I didn't need to buy for concealed carry, as that has been covered for years. But what I carry for CCW every day is not concealable by IDPA standards, and I live in the Deep South where heavy outer covering is not an option. Go figure. Anyway it ain't over yet. I will find a way to get in on the action. Only problem is the price of admission just went through the roof for me. Comparatively speaking. Now as to what Duane said; I should be able to shoot anything that is safe and concealable. That would be a great thing show up, show concealment with just a shirt for cover and if it passes the eye test on printing shoot. . That is how I arrived at the carry rigs I us now. But..........maybe it wouldn't be illegal now? It's the maybe that gets you (me) every time.
  11. "Even if he does make rules to suit his business it's ok because IDPA also is his business.... if you go to the bar you can't bring in your own beer, so what's wrong if Wilson decides that in order to play his game you have to use his stuff..... seams pretty smart to me...." Yeah kinda like if you don't like my sand box, go home. Hey this is America and I think Mr. Wilson should be able to run his piece of the pie anyway he wishes. I just wonder, in the long run, how many people will keep coming to his table. I really want to give the whole IDPA game a run. But as stated before now I can't unless I go repurchase all the stuff I purchased in December. Dang!!! Double Dang!!!
  12. I agree, it is just me and the sour grapes thing. Dec. 15 2004 I purchased all the needed equipment to start IDPA using the rulebook. Now I have a whole set up I can't use and now don't need. And you are all right business is business and it does belong to the Wilsons. Only time and the paying customers will tell how it will play out. I should have done more research on this whole IDPA shooting sport and I am by no means the only one that got hosed by the new rules or feel there is something wrong. I might not even feel bad if I had gotten to lose just one match with the new setup though. To set the record I never said "accusing Bill of creating IDPA in order to sell product." That story on the creation of IDPA is well known. I did point out the perceived, on my part, way the rules played out. And I am not alone on that thought. Just read on some of the other forums, and this one for that fact. Now I said I'm sorry. Can we play nice now.
  13. That is simply not true. One of Wilson's most popular gun's, the Tactical Elite, is not legal for IDPA because it has a coned barrel without a bushing. One of his holsters is specifically mentioned as not legal in the Rule Book. I'm sure there are other examples. Please get your facts straight before you make untrue, and unfair, statement like that. Duane, Please forgive my ignorance, as I am sure you are correct. I am sure Mr. Wilson and crew never intended to slant the rules of this business (IDPA) to help his bottom line in his other business Wilson Combat. I can't believe I was so ignorant of the facts. Thank you for taking the time to inform me as to these facts. I shall now withdraw any criticisms of the new rulebook and the perceived intentions of Mr. Wilson. I am just devastated that I was foolish enough to make such assumptions. I'm sure Wilson Combat has equipment that does not meet current rules. But I also think Wilson Combat has many that meet the new rules. This I'm sure is just due to very good market research and nothing to do with the new rules. In the statement "Funny how all Mr. Wilson’s Company’s equipment is legal" I now see I should have used the word most and not the word all. I will edit my post immediately. I ask forgiveness for my wayward opinions.
  14. The new rules book just bit me. As a long time IPSC shooter I made the decision to buy a Glock 17 and all the necessary equipment to shoot IDPA. I am not a member, was just about to send a check and get ready to have some fun and make new friends in a, new to me, sport. Now everything I purchased is not allowed. Except the G17. I guess my best option is to tear up the check and build my G17 to shoot in IPSC Standard Division. This is sad as I used their rulebook to make the decisions on equipment. Well now I can shoot in two divisions in IPSC. The reason I have not joined IDPA sooner was because I felt a little apprehension about a shooting sport being run (owned) by a single person. Funny how all ( sorry should had used the word most. See Duane's addition to my education below.) of Mr. Wilson’s Company’s equipment is legal. Guess my apprehensions were warranted. This is sad as I really thought the concept of IDPA was sound., but the execution and timing of these new rules leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I really hope whoever is responsible for these rule changes see the error of their ways and address the equipment issues. Until then my money will support the IPSC shooting base and vendors. Excluding Wilson Combat for now.
