  1. What manufacturers do 11 lbs or even lighter (i.e. 8,9 lbs) apart from ISMI? So is it not possible to run factory 9mm loads with a comp?

You can run factory loads but the amount of gases produced by the load isn't enough to make the comp work properly.

I suppose in order to maximize potential of having a comp, it does require a major pf load but even running say low pf such as factory loads, the comp will still do what it is designed to do isnt it, and that would be to expel gases upward and through the ports, so it would still help reduce recoil.

The less gas the less muzzle flip reduction, not less recoil.

While it is true that there is still gas being redirected, once you hit a certain point in gas reduction the difference in a comped and non-comped pistol becomes difficult to distinguish.

  2. I know mine, with a similiar setup, will not run factory loads with a 11lb spring. I don't have to run major but I do run 150+pf for the comp to do a little work. Comp works alot better with loads going at least major. Major I run a 13lb spring.

  3. I am not trying to sound like a smart***, but you will get a multitude of answers all of the spectrum on this one. As cheap as the springs are (less then $3), buy a couple and give it a try.

Having said that, I use a 4lb spring, extended striker from Jager and WIN primers and it works flawlessly for me.

  4. I have a lone wolf barrel for my G35 that i bought to shoot lead bullets. Ive had nothing but problems with it. Its advertised as good for lead bullets because it has standard rifling. Has anyone else used them? Did you have problems/what did you do to fix them?

Im going to take it in to a gun store and see what they say but at this point i spent $110 to have it shipped to me, im not going to send it back to lone wolf with more money to make it do what I bought it to do.

This is a well known issue with thousands of threads on the subject. Get ahold of Dan at Lone Wolf, the gunsmith. He helped me out. Just be persistant and he will open up the throat of the chamber so that lead will run in the barrel. You will have to send them a couple dummy rounds of your reloads. I will say that I was very firm in the fact that I would not be paying for them to do what should have been done in the first place. Realize, it may take 4-6 weeks for the turnaround.

There are other fixes. Search at glocktalk.com and you will find them.

  5. I'm over in South Dakota and we get a bit of winter also. Dryfire and reloading are great on the "really" cold days. But, I find no reason not to go out on those not so cold days and actually fire. Nothing like cold weather to make you concentrate on doing things right, or to bring out any problems with a weapon.

I'd also add in practice for:

    a. draw

    b. mounting

    c. obtaining sight picture

    d. clearing a weapon and getting in back into action(dummy ammo), especially if you have somebody to set up a problem without you seeing what the problem might be.

    e. some type of fitness routine.
