  1. I find this thread interesting since many handguns fail much sooner. My own G34 has about 15,000 rounds through it and this thread tells me what to focus on and what I should pay particular attention to. So do you feel this issue is unreasonable with something that has 25,000 or 40,0000 rounds through it?

  2. I use the bag and like the layout, and I only paid $50.00 Canadian. My distributor was getting out of them - too many problems.

The tabs that hold the shoulder straps pulled out - they were tabs sewn in and the shoulder strap clips were pot metal and broke. My strap hardware broke and a friends bag had both problems.

I load my bag up with everything including the kitchen sink. 3 guns, 4 or 500 rounds of ammo, and just a ton of stuff. The straps have held up great for me. The thing is so heavy that when I walk with it I can't stand straight up. I still love mine.

  3. Great product couldn't give it a higher recomendation. Ask me in two or three years how's it doing and I will have a better understanding of the valve of the bag.

Are you still using this bag? Has it held up?

The bag has been absolutely fantastic. I had beat the crap out of it and have overloaded many, many times with so much ammo thta I thought that the strap should have busted. One of the best investments that I have made in the hobby. Highly recomend still!

Shop around before you buy, there are some good deals available that are far from list price.

  4. Brian sells Pact :D

Thanks, but due to a business decision (for reasons I'm not going to discuss on the Forum) I'm no longer a dealer for PACT.

    be

That says a whole lot even though you typed very few words.

My next question is, what will you be carrying for a timer in your store now?

I'm using an older Pact Mark IV but the newer product has had a rash of problems both with customer service and hardware.

I shoot indoors and out and would really like an adjustable sensitivity function. I often record the echos so for 6 shots it records 12 rounds. I took a piece of foam ear plug and placed over the speaker hole like Pact recomends but that is very hard to be repeatable and a pain in the rear.

Thinking about an inexpensive Pocket pro. The company donates the use of new units for our big match every year and that has to count for something.

  5. I went over to a friend who had just bought a used 550 with dies for 45 auto. The dies were already in the machine. I don't load for 45 auto but every one that we did you could push the bullet in the case by hand afterwards. The same kind of problem that you are having.

Believe it or not the first die and the crimping die were reversed in the press. Someone had pulled the stem out of the station one die and it was being used to seat bullets. It's was like someone pulled all of the dies apart and when they put them back together the depriming pin ended up in the bullet seating die. Weirdest thing that I ever saw and I couldn't figure it out. Some guy on the "High Road BB" pointed my buddy in the right direction and now everything is running as it should be. Verify that the right die has the right parts in it.

  6. I didn't really know where to post this. It isn't the same as making a new classification etc, but something that I am still proud of. For me my NRA membership is putting my money where my mouth is and supporting our rights and ideals.

I was an annual member for a number of years, then upgraded to a 5 year membership then later to a Life member. Years later upgraded again to an Endowment member and today I finally upgraded to a NRA Patron Member. There was a deal when I renewed my membership on line so I said what the heck, I haven't given them enough money lately. ;)

If your membership is due or even if it isn't consider upgrading your own membership level. Of course all of us that involved with guns are NRA members to begin with right? If you are not, consider an annual membership. Thanks for your support,

The spell checker in Office 2007 is not compatible with OE6. Try a free

    spell checker instead.

    Another one:

Office 2007 breaks OE's spell check. Downloading a free spell check is the

    simplest way around this.

After installing Office 2007 RTM, you dont have English as a choice of

language in the spell checker of Outlook Express and potentially other

    programs.

a.. Office 2007 is replacing the v.3 English Proofing Tools that shipped

in prior versions of Office with a new version (v.6). There are a number of

changes in this new version, but the one that is causing this problem is

that Outlook Express doesnt understand the new English Proofing Tools. This

is a problem because Outlook Express has never shipped with its own proofing

tools but has used the ones shipped by Office.

b.. There are a few scenarios in which you wont run into this problem:

a.. An upgrade from Office 2003 or earlier to Office 2007 RTM if you

dont manually uninstall the earlier version of Office.

b.. A configuration in which Office 2003 (or earlier) has not been

    removed.

For example, I have Office 2003 still on both of my computers, and I

still have English in Outlook Express.

c.. The workaround for this problem is to install the English dictionary

from Office 2003 (or Office XP). There should be no need to install all of

Office just the dictionary. The English Proofing Tools can be found in the

Custom Install tree under Office Shared Features|Proofing Tools|English.

Well, at least I am not crazy. And they wonder why I don't go out right now and download my free upgrade to Vista. This sucks!

  8. I have had the machine since Dec and upgraded to Office 2007 just a couple of days ago, it was about the same time or within a day when the spell checker went to French. I checked CDRODA396's suggestions again and only have French as an option in the pull down menu. I now believe it is tied to office 2007. I've been working on this for hours and hours and still have no resolution.

Vulc, I checked windows itself and I am on English (US) so that is not it. Even though I don't consider myself very computer savy I was much more use to 2003 and it will take me a while to find things in 2007. The new computer came with a TRIAL version of 2003 but it was only good for a month or so and then ran out. I couldn't do anything with any of the documents that I created besides read only so hence the reason for the upgrade. Thanks again for the ideas guys. I have been digging around with the "Translator settings" and while I feel like I am close at times still no cigar. Right now I am on the Microsoft help site, but still looking.

    Rick

  9. Sorry that didnt do it for you, thats about the extent of my comfuser saavy, maybe someone else on here will be able to figure it out...GOOD LUCK!

    PH

That was farther that I got on my own so thanks. I went to microsoft on line help and found some having problems once an update was done that went to English from their chosen language. It might have been some auto update issue. I still haven't found the answer yet. I did just upgrade to microsoft office 2007 but I don't think that has anything to do with it, but the correlation is strange.

    Again, thanks for the try,

    Rick

  10. Click "Tools" to expose the pull down menu...

    Click "Options" ...

Click the "Spelling" tab on the top...

At the bottom is "Chose which dictionary to use...you'll see...

Hope this helps...I hate comfusers myself!!!

Thanks for the help. I couldn't change it though. I hit, "tools" then "options" then clicked on the "spelling" tab.

At the bottom it says "French" but there is no other selection to choose from just "french" even when I hit the pull down menu. I can edit my custom dictionary, which is where words that were not originally in the dictionary I have added. I followed your instructions but still have no resolution. Thanks for the try though.

  11. I only shot about a half dozen IDPA matches this year but I did use my Kahr PM9 and my Glock 38 or 39, all of which are my carry guns depending on weather or dress code, and the IWB holsters I carry them in. I even snuck into expert, barely, with the Kahr on the classifier.

    I'm not worthy :o

Absolutely cool. I don't think that I would make it with my CW9.

I shoot the G34 in the matches and if I need to have something on me the CW9. I be a gamer. ;)

  12. Tom, at work tonight I was moving with my arms extended and thinking of stages. I see how it wouldn't be the great thing in a public match, but having a tread mill on and engaging a semicircle of targets where you shot some side stepping to the left, then side stepping to the right and then walking straight ahead sounds like a blast. Sign me up.

Speaking of goofy stages, but Matt Burkett's newist release "IPSC Strategies" has these guys running on a couple of planks and engaging targets. I saw more than one shooter loose his balance on that stage.

I know that I first posted about the tread mill, but you should have seen me working the eliptical machine with the gun - that was a riot.

    Be safe.

    Rick

  13. Chris, you are a much better shooter than I so I bend to your knowledge base. If not an true training drill, it sure was more fun to walk on that damn tread mill with my pistol than walking on it and watching Orpra. I probably need to walk on the treadmill more than I do dryfiring anyhow.

Listen to Chris on the training drills guys, but if you are home and your wife brings some friends over that have over stayed their welcome, just grab your pistol when the grils get a little too loud and tell them that you are going to walk on the tread mill for a while as stress relief and watch how fast the house clears out. B)

    Rick

  14. It's frustrating when people just don't get it.

+1 on that, but in a much different way than you mean. The principals of the sport are accuracy, speed and power, not accuracy, speed, power and deviousness. If you can't compete on the basis of accuracy, speed and power, you can't compete. Simple, yes?

No, that's not how it works. Those are the principals, yes, but if you had been a member longer and went to more shoots you would see that many matches have things like, memory stages that test the shooters ability to think while apply the 3 principals of speed, power and accuracy. Read the course descriptions of any major match and this will become obvious.

This is a game and the guy with the highest score wins. If you want it to be tactical, join the army. They shoot back.

    Rick

  15. My wife is on me to train more on the equipment that we have. I find it boring just like I find dry firing, but today I grabbed the gun and got on the tread mill at the same time. I know that my movement needs work, but I find that I can do more movement drill of the TM since I never have to walk back to the beginning to start over. I can work forward walking, backwards and even cross over steps on this thing. I must have pulled the trigger a couple of hundred times and varied the speed between a very slow IDPA crawl and 2.5 mph which is moving damn fast for me. It was fun and I thought that I would share.

    Rick

  16. I used to use AVG but found something that I feel is better and is still free.

AVAST I have had great success with it.

I was running AVG and liked it. It didn't use very many resources and loved the price. No problems with viruses. One thing that I didn't like about it was that each time that I ran Spybot S&D or AdAware was that I would find lots of spyware on my machine and the program didn't do anything to stop it so I was removing the same stuff each week and lots of it.

I switched over to McAfee Total Protection 2007 for this reason, but am considering getting my money back on it. I'm running one of the new dual core processors and my download speeds were greater than 5 mbps with the AVG product installed. With no other changes except the install of McAfee, my download speeds have been cut in half. Just today ran some speed tests and the speeds were 1700, 2500 and 2300 nothing close to the 5400 than I use to be running. McAfee has a 30 day money back garantee and I am just about ready to take them up on it.

  17. Thanks for the info Clay1!!! It is much appreciated. I have to make it over to this years match.

I've missed the last couple due to conflicts in my schedule. I'll have to MAKE time this year.

Cool, glad that the info will help out. :D

  18. TRP Professional, this is early news and everything isn't firmed up yet but this was recently posted about the state match in Wisconsin and I thought that since we are close that you might be interested in attending:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have heard via the grapevine that folks are starting to wonder about the status of the 2007 IDPA State Match. Here's where we stand as of today.

Normally we have the annual state match committee meeting in mid-January, so match announcements are out by Feb. 1. However, this year I had major knee surgery in early January and was not able to gather the clan at the usual time.

However, we do have certain things more or less in place. The match will probably be held at Schultz's again this year, and on our traditional date, i.e., the first weekend in August. This must be confirmed at the next meeting of the board of Schultz's next week, but at this point we know of no impediment to the date and location. I will post the confirmed date and location after the board meeting next week.

The match committee will be meeting in the next few weeks to firm up responsibilities and organizational details. If you are interested in participating in the organizational chores involved, please drop me a line at bowrainbow@hotmail.com.

We'll be putting out a call for SO's later this winter. FYI, we will probably be holding an SO class sometime in March here in Ripon. I'll post date and details at a later time.

  19. Keith, I'm jealous of the 1050. Cool, try some 147 Zeros with some V V powder and you will know what a soft 9 feels like. The reloading section of this board has some great info.

    Rick

  20. Early on in my USPSA adventure when I was playing with knives more than I am now, I busted through a doorway and there were 3 targets in the shoot room on this section of the course. I engaged the first target but went to slide lock and dropped a mag earlier in the course that shouldn't have been dropped - yes, read multiple problems. I really wanted to engage the last two guys with the blade in my pocket but thought that the RO would have $hit chickens had I reholstered and drew the blade even though the gun was at slidelock. I still think about that stage since the targets were very close indeed.

I did not attend this match but at one IDPA shoot it was a requirement to stab one target on one of the arrays. The good ole' days.

    Rick

  21. The "no guide rods" in IDPA is not correct. All Glocks need a guide rod

Seriously this is from page 20 of the IDPA rulebook under SSP: "Guide rods made of a material different from the factory part it replaces." are under "Excluded modifications.

On page 22 of the IDPA rulebook under Permitted modifications to ESP: "11. Full length guide rod manufactured of material that is no heavier than common steel.

So I run a stock guide rod and spring in my personal G34 for SSP and the G34 that I run in ESP has this guide rod from Novak's Handgunner Outlet: http://store.novakshandgunneroutlet.com/nh...teel-guide.html

    I run this Magwelll: http://www.jprifles.com/1.5.3.4.php

It fits in the IDPA box. Since IDPA has this requirement for ESP: "D. Fit in the IDPA gun test box measuring 8 ¾" x 6" x 1 5/8." with an empty magazine inserted."

I run the Ralph S. trigger kit in my gun and while it measures 2.25 pounds in my G34 when measured from the tip of the trigger next to the trigger guard, when I measure my trigger weight from the center of the trigger as the proposed 2008 USPSA rules require, it hits consistently at 3.5 pounds, so I am fine there.

I run the Dawson's, but would consider the Sevigney sights as a good alternative: http://www.gunracing.com/Qstore/Qstore.cgi...007A1B0000001B1

Buy 10,000 rounds of ammo to get started, a timer, some targets and pasters and a membership in a club with better shooters than you and go!

    Hope that this helps,

    Rick

Thanks Rick for the in depth reply with links. All those products look good, especially the Sevigney sights, with the deep wide rear notch and narrow tall front sight. Maybe I will get just the sights and run with what I got from there.

    As far as ammo, 10k??? :D:D How about 1k, a 1050 and a bunch of components :D:D:D

    Thanks again,

    Keith

Keith, two seasons ago I shot 12,000 rounds through my G34. With 9mm it is very hard to justify reloading if you are shooting and like the impulse or recoil feel of 115 grain ammo. There is a lot to like with that ammo by the way. I decided to try and shoot the zero 147 for a while and then started to reload those with V V powder. It sure is easier to just buy the stuff and I can recomend Blazer ammo from CCI. Many have bad mouthed the stuff, but bluntly it always worked well for me and gave me very good groups out of my gun. I've recently went back to the Blazer from the 147 Zeros.

If we were talking about shooting the Glock 35 in ESP, without a doubt get the Dillon 650 or if you have the big bucks buy the 1050, but for a G34 in 9mm, you would have to shoot millions of rounds to make up the difference in savings. :o

Have fun and pull the trigger. You don't have to buy the ammo all at once, but the 10,000 rounds wasn't meant to be a joke. Once you start to play this game you will be surprised how addicting it can be. When you shoot IDPA and USPSA, you will have a match or two almost every weekend somewhere.
