Couldn't I just buy a gold team upper in 9mm and be done with it?

I currently shoot a G35, but I am thinking of using the G35 for production only and buying a .40 limited elite for uspsa limited. My question is the following: Is there an easy upgrade path to get the limited elite upgraded to an open gun? Basically could I buy a gold team barrel and comp and drop them in? I don't mind if I have to shoot .40 in open. I would just like to have the experience of shooting open someday, even if I have to deal with the reduced capacity of the 40 cartridge. P.S. Is it even possible to purchase a gold team barrel and comp? thanks guys!

I had put DP adjustable sites on my G35 in anticipation of potential POI issues. What I found in my case, is that the shift in POI was minimal. Fortunately I didn't need to change extractor, and haven't had any malfunctions. I've only shot factory ammo so far, so I have yet to check function with hotter handloads.

I don't see why not? I would assume that a 40/9 conversion barrel would be stronger than a native .40 or native 9mm barrel, as the barrel and chamber walls are thicker. I am planning to do the exact same thing to shoot 9mm major loads in a glock 35.
