Another thing to think about is you can't lighten the slide enough on a full-size to replicate a lightened shorty slide.
I'll contest that point. I've built 5" guns that weigh and balance the same as a 4.25" shorty.
The key difference being that the longer gun always shoots softer.
Help me to understand this. In these cases would you say you lightened the slide equally as much on both the shorty and full size? I mean, it just makes sense that a gun with 3/4 of an inch less real estate would weigh less assuming everything else is completely equal.
The shorty slide gets 3/4" lopped off and a few serrations in front.
The 5" slide gets many more serrations and some internal lightening in the front end. Couple that with a spiral fluted barrel and possibly an aluminum guide rod and you have a package that weighs and balances the same as a shorty.
You can get a shorty slide to weigh too little. It's all about balance.

After breaking a few Dremel's I now have a Foredom SR series. Probably more than your're after but well worth it for me.

There can be adhesion problems going straight onto Ti. I believe a solution is to nickel plate before adding the chrome on top, so ask the chrome shop if they're setup for Titanium.

They're 5-40 and a well stocked hardware may have them. Home depot or similar will not have them.

The face of the reciever may not be square. As the barrel heats up it grows and is now pushing your zero off. If you let it cool and the groups return to your initial zero you'll know if that could be the issue.

No such thing as a drop in 1911 barrel.
Find a gunsmith, ask for a new barrel/bushing and install. Let gunsmith pick preferred barrel brand.

Well it looks like I've narrowed it down between two companies offering about the same price, same wait time and features.
Matt Cheeley or Dan Bedell.

I don't know that I've done a full in house open gun build with a hybrid barrel. I have done topends and fitted hybrid barrels to other open guns though. Pictures for those are a little harder to find as I don't always take pictures of those kind of jobs.

I think Titanium is the way to go regardless of what comp you choose. Steel is just too heavy hanging off the front of the gun for me.

Closest club is LGC in Brighton, about 30min south.

I've had very good results with White Oak Armament barrels.

Pressure on the cmore can affect zero on any scope mount. Less likely on a vertical mount, yes. Also make sure both of your locking screws are well tightened. Sometimes they don't really hold that well even if they are tight.
