Can't wait to see you tear it up this year. You planning on shooting TN this year?
-
What about a Polymer only Slide Mounted optics division?
-
i left the sight as is, but i started shooting with the CZ, so it wasnt any different for me. Practice makes YOU more accurate. But I understand you are looking for something that mimics what you are accustomed to.The filing I'm referring to is to shave off the extra material above the FO rod. I like the rod to sit at the very top of the sight rather than 3/4. IMO it makes guns more accurate bc you can shoot off of the actual FO rod rather than the top of the sight blade. Check out Taran Tactical's website - he explains the concept on the page where he posts his Glock sights.

No filing. That is the proper size. Dawson and CZ measure their sights differently
Just to confirm, you purchased the Dawson .215 FO & filed it down? Did you re-coat the top of the sight with anything? Can you post some pics of how it turned out.
Worked out perfect
Thanks jabbermurph! Order submitted!
They aren't sold out...that just means they have to cut one which takes 2 more days. I got mine in 5 days.
^^^ Oh really? That makes things a little easier! (although Dawson is still sold out of the .215)
Czcustom measure sights differently. .215 is the ticket
I thought about that, but CZ Custom's website says that the Accushadow needs a 7.5mm front sight. Converted to inches, that's 0.295 inches. The tallest sight I see on Dawson's site is 0.275. Of course, that may still work since I'm running a HAJO adjustable rear.....but they're out of stock at the moment. *sigh*
Order the next height up from Dawson and file the top down.I'm looking for a front sight replacement for my AccuShadow that has a fiber optic as close to the top edge of the front sight as possible (similar to the Taran Tactical sights). Does anyone know if someone makes one like that? Thanks!
So did this work out? I was also looking at doing something similar but want a 0.95 width. Stuart told me that the height is indeed 7.5mm = 0.29 inches. Wondering if I should just take the risk and file my current sight's width...... :/
I just purchased an accu-shadow for Xmas. So far I love it except for the FO front sight. I use the TTI FO fronts on my glocks. I absolutely love Taran's design - FO rod at the very top, shiny screw for reflection & open top for more light. Idk why other sight makers haven't made improvements to their designs over the years.
I'd really appreciate some more details & some pics. I've never filed a sight down so I'm a little nervous.

Wonder if that front rail weight would fit the P-09? Would be similar to Vogel 's Lim Glock mod, just sexier

I think a second optics division is a good idea but I think reflexively tying it to production is a mistake. We should look at what everyone is actually saying they want out of a new division. What I am hearing is, optic, don't need to reload to be competitive, use less intimidating guns. This could be achieved without using production for a base, production has many rules that would keep existing guns with slide mounted dots out. Production rules are already hard enough to correctly enforce adding optics to them won't make that better. How about making it more like the IDPA proposed rules that would in effect make it L10 minor with a dot. Easy rules to enforce
That or make it polymer guns only, that way it actually would be the most affordable division. Have weight limits for slides and frames weighed separately. make a minimum pull weight at 3# to even out the hammered vs. striker debate.

Easy...ELPTies a rope to a tree and hangs the universe.....
Here's another:
"The sermon goes mourning,
Pricking it's hail
Slothful the child,
That preys on the seed
Shall behead the drought,
Wound under sleeves
I hope you have room,
In a thicket of vines
Give me a moment,
To clean what you've stole
The streets will hang high,
Stretch ribs and let taste
We'll cover the smell
with silver nitrate
Mending the cuts of your prosthetic faith"

Lotsa butthurt going on in this thread. Keep up the entertainment, gentlemen...this is almost as good as Ferguson.I tried to edit the "L1", but the only options Practiscore provides are:
Level I
Level II
Level III
Nationals
Oh well, let the Haters Hate, I'm over it
I'm just gonna just go shoot and have fun
If that is your position, you should not be a match director(assuming you are in that role now by your earlier comments). What else are you going to let slide?

Lulz.....congrats on making Masteri'm tired of writing....i'll finish this another day

I believe the factory recoil spring is 18# and the mainspring is 20#....makes slide racking a chore

what weight pills are you using?

I had the same problem at first with shaving. It takes a very minimal flare, and a little twist of the fingers while placing the bullet so it sits properly. Now that it is solved I can push about 800/hr on a 550 with a case feederI'm using new SNS coated. I don't have a 9 mm collet to pull them. I'll reset the die to crimp the bare minimum that will get me to a .380" case mouth after crimp going fwd, but I have 900 loaded rounds already.

Congrats to all of you. It was fun watching you guys burn it down. The Tennessee Section match was a great match. Good stages and friendly staff.
I'm really happy with my 2nd day performance. I was able to come back from a poor 1st day, and finish 1st Open M, 2nd overall.
Also, I'm super pumped about how Kurt E. and Pat R. finished. 1st A and 2nd B, respectively. It is really cool to see peolpe get better, then see them reap the rewards. Congratulations!.
Our squad really cleaned house at the Tennessee Section.
Open Champ - Chris K
1st Open M - Me
1st Open A - Kurt E
1st Open B - Garris M
2nd Open B - Pat R
Open High Lady - Sloan T
2nd Limited M & 2nd Limited Overall -Steven S
I'm sure I've missed something, sorry.
Fun weekend!

Trigger control
-
Answer:
Point the gun up in the air, don't take your finger off the trigger, try to reload, look surprised.
Question:
How do you fire 2 shots during a reload? What is your mother, Trebek!!!
-
same hereMore than one way to skin a cat I guess. Ben Stoeger says he grips so hard he sometimes peels skin off his strong hand with his weak hand. He seems to do ok with this approach.
The strong hand ring finger, right below the second knuckle. If I'm not wearing a bandaid on that finger, I haven't been practicing

What would be awesome is something like the trackingpoint scope integrated into google glass and your pistol that also helps you align the pistol while shooting
Isn't that what the sights/dots are for? Sighting aids won't help you fight the urge to jerk the trigger when the little sighting indicator goes from red to green.
Programming and marking targets and then tracking which have been engaged already might be handy, especially on memory stages.
on the trackingpoint, you pull on the trigger but it doesnt fire until the sights line up
Then what's the point of competing? Kinda takes the game away from the game
