  1. My Kimber was very finnicky when it was new, however after I put some rounds through it and got it broken in it runs awesome. You could pay to have a smith do some work on it or just shoot it and break it in that way plus side to that is you get used to your new gun. I do understand how frustrating it is though when it gets hung up barely out of battery and you really have to force the slide back to get the round it.

  2. I have experienced one squib round, I was by myself shooting steel and was about halfway through a 10 round drill when it happened. What got me was the sound it made a weird "pop" with no recoil and luckily I stopped and took it apart. Ever since then when I'm shooting and something doesn't sound or feel quite right I stop, take the pistol apart and double check. Only done it a few times but I would rather be overly cautious then lose a finger.

  3. I'm a lefty and have tried using my trigger finger to release the mag but for me it is more comfortable to use my middle finger to press the magazine release. I have tried flipping the mag release to the right side of the pistol but since I have small hands I really have to tweak my grip to be able to press it with my thumb.

  4. What would have happened if you ignored his call? It seems like it is on him to run the check before allowing you to leave with the gun. (Not sure about the laws in IL.)

In IL there is a 72 hour wait on handguns, so since I purchased it on Friday I wouldn't of been able to pick it up til today. Unfortunately since I got called in today I can't pick it up until Thursday. But heck I can't complain I'm just glad I don't have to deal with the NICS.

  5. Went to the gun store Friday night to purchase a new glock, filled out the paper work as usual paid and left. When I got home I had a voicemail from the store saying that when they called me in I was denied! By the time I got the voicemail they were closed and I haven't talked to them since, however they open in a few hours and I'm going to try and have them run me again. I don't understand why I was denied and how to proceed. I literally don't even have a speeding ticket on my record and I bought a new pistol and was called in without a hitch about 2 weeks ago. I'm from IL so I had a LEO friend run me and sure enough my FOID came back valid. If it comes back denied today I don't know if I should contact ISP FOID division or the NICS. So far from what I've read if I have to go through the NICS the appeals process can be quite long and a real PITA. I should add that I did send in for a address change on my FOID but that shouldn't change my FOID number or expiration on it. Any input would be greatly appreciated, I would like to get this resolved ASAP.
