  1. I really do appreciate all the knowledge being passed to me though, you guys are the most knowledgable and nicest folks I have spoken to in a while. I will definitely post the actual measurements saturday when I get back home and have my calipers in hand. Hopefully that barrel is 15mm! Why cant EAA just sell a 5" barrel...it would solve my problem at least! ;-)
  2. I would do as much work as I can myself. Probably do the threading and slide opening. Just not sure about cutting, and recrowning a longer barrel if my current barrel does not work out. I dont think I would shoot major PF rounds, but I like to cook up a little hotter than average rounds. 1350 fps with a 125gr just seems a bit much. Im not sure I will ever end up in an open steel shoot, but I like to shoot steel quickly with my dad and buddy, as well as doing some bullseye punching. Its all about fun for me, not to mention im rarely out of this semi long enough to do any real competitive shooting.
  3. And again, no caliper atm but just looked at the barrel on a tape measure (obviously not all that great) and the od of the barrel is just over 9/16. And the back edge of my mag is just over 3/4, not quite 13/16. Sorry if the pictures dont help...and im sure my measurements are something to be desired also. Until I get to the shop to reload saturday thats aboit the best I got
  4. Let me see if I can get a pic down to a size I can post. What is the limit?
  5. I do reload. Going to hopefully be able to mic my barrel tonight. Any other sure ways to tell the difference between frames if I cant get my calipers from my old man this evening?
  6. Awesome. That seems like a pretty decent way to go about this... and I can use my stock barrel which is even better. Any suggestions on a cone style comp? Need to check my OD to exactly sure of what threads I can get toI suppose. THanks a bunch for the help and info. When I get back around the house I will try to get a picture down to a size I can post to show you what im working with. Nate
  7. Mike, do you think opening up the end of the slide and attaching a cone to the barrel would allow too much play on blowback? I feel like im thinking way to hard about this...
  8. Pm sent. Cant attach the picture I have on my phone as it is abit too large.
  9. I did put calipers on my barrel this past weekend and if I remember correct it was like .551 or so which is pretty under 15mm, and almost exactly 14mm. I will check again wednesday when I get back home... but I guess it doesn't matter with the other differences. Back to square 1.
  10. Thanks for the info. Frustrating trying to find a barrel and comp combo for my full size large frame 9mm... Without a competent gunsmith around town im wondering if it will be possible. I was thinking about opening up the barrel hole on my slide and threading the barrel for a cone style but im not sure that will work either.
  11. Not sure anyone is still watching this thread but wanted to ask anyway. Can anyone tell me if the CZ tactical sport barrel will work with my full size large frame polymer witness 9mm? Seems the perfect length for threading and adding a compensator if it will fit.
  12. Thanks for the quick reply Mike. I believe I have the "large full size frame." My magazines will not slide into my fathers smaller frame witness. They seem to be a little longer front to back but nearly identical width. Have not put the calipers on them though. Thats a bummer about the barrels too. I wish the guy from savvysurvivor was on top of it, he seems to have everything you could want (other than what henning has). I also thought it was odd that Numrich Gun Parts has all these different caliber compensators with multiple ports and finishes, but only stock length barrels. I am hoping that I will come across the needle in the haystack, but not holding my breath. Thanks again, my hunt continues! Nate
  13. Sorry the photo on my phone is too large to post. I will try to post it somewhere and link to it.
  14. Hello everyone! I am the proud owner of a Tanfoglio Full size polymer 9mm. I have been trolling these forums for a few weeks now and love all the great information. This pistol is quickly becoming my new favorite hardware. I am going to try to attach a picture (although not a great one) of my gun with new rail/red dot, and bayonet (for giggles). My father also just bought the 9mm poly with the smaller frame and also loves it. Now my questions! ;-) (I will try to use proper terminology, please forgive me if I sound like an idiot!) Is EAA the only place to get more 17 rd magazines? Mostly all I have seen elsewhere seem to be 16 or less. I dont mind ordering directly from EAA, but the horror stories I have heard about their customer service and receiving the wrong parts after long shipping times makes me a bit leery. I drive a semi and only have one free afternoon a week to get out and shoot so long waits are not what im looking for. I am hoping to be able to find a 5" or 5.5" threaded barrel to accept a compensator. I have found a few sites that have the comps but none have barrels to go with. The few sites I have found with "comp kits" are for .45acp and 9x21. The guy ar savvysurvivor has what looks like what I want, but does not respond to email apparently. I would buy the 6" barrel and have it cut and threaded but have no local gunsmith to do the work. If anyone has any suggestions about sites where I may find a comp kit, or threaded barrel for my gun I would greatly appreciate it. Sorry so rambly, been driving too long and need to hit the bunk. Thanks in advance for any tips or advice! Nate Sanders
  15. Just ordered the same mount yesterday, but a little different red dot. Going on my full size poly 9mm. Just my fun gun. Thinking about trying to add a comp if I can find the right barrel. Read some good info on these forums but not sure how easy this project may be. May think about just going with a long slide. Any advice either way? Going to read some more, and may end up posting a new thread, but wanted to say that I like your setup.
