You just need a gen 1 STI grip module.  Post a WTB here on Enos, your local shooting forum, social media outlets, other places.  Should be able to find one at a fair price.

Seen Atlas has a left handed grip module earlier today while checking model names, but did not look at price.

I am almost positive that Atlas has their own in-house left hand mag release. The Mitchel one won't work in the Atlas frame.

  2. Check out the Ghost Holster Hydra P+. Kind of in the middle between a standard kydex holster and a race holster. It's about $140.

Otherwise I don't think you can go wrong with a kydex holster from Red Hill Tactical. It's about $100 with a few options added.

  3. I'm getting another pistol in a few months are starting to look for a new red dot. Right now I use Holosuns 507Cs and a Trijicon SRO. I happened to watch an online gun review and the guy had this Gideon Omega red dot that he liked. What caught my attention was that the window is a little bigger than the SRO.

I've never heard of Gideon so I went to their website. The dot is less than 1/2 the cost of an SRO and has a lifetime warranty. But like I said I've never heard of them. I could be throwing away $200.

Anyone own one of these or come across one? Would love to get some feedback.

  4. When I was still shooting a Glock in CO/LO I bought an aftermarket slide for my G17 and had it milled for a Vortex Venom. This way I still had the OEM slide intact.  It's been a while since I shot that gun in competition but I liked it.

200rd into my LOC and have been very pleased.  The S3 grip is extremely sharp, much more significant than my Cheely Aggressive grip on my STI.  Side by side with a Std DS9 Hybrid the difference is noticeable and slide to frame fitment is comparable with more expensive atlas and venom builds.

If you're looking at a DS9, the upcharge to the LOC is a solid value in my opinion.

Glad you are happy with it. I've got about 1350 rounds through my DS9 IDPA with no ammo-related issues at all. The only issue I've had is that the rear "tangs" of the ambi safety extend just a hair below the beavertail when the safety is on and bite into my firing hand. MPA had me send back the safety and they are going to blend it some more to fix the issue.

I have the A3 grip which is pretty aggressive, most people who feel it don't like it but I do. In fact when I shot my Sig P320 X5 at a match this past weekend the gun felt slippery in my hand and I had put silicon carbide on that grip. My hands have gotten used to the "bite" of the A3 grip.

  6. I'll be 66 in June. My days of doing wind sprints and moving "explosively" are behind me. I know I'm losing time on stages moving between shooting positions but I have to accept that I can't run as fast anymore unless I'm running through an airport terminal trying to catch a connecting flight.

I wonder if they are moving slower now. When I bought my Athena last year trying to find one in stock was almost impossible. They just sold so fast whenever a dealer got one. Now I look on GunBroker and there's a bunch listed and available right now. Either their production went up or they just aren't selling as fast.

I don't Know. I ordered an Athena in late October and was told 8 months. As of now there is no movement on my order indicating it will be finished sooner.

  8. I did the same with my Gen 2 17. I didn't want to ruin the OEM slide so I bought an aftermarket and sent it to Battlewerx to have it milled for a Vortex Venom. That was a few years back but they did a great job and turnaround was quick. That was my introduction to red dots. Unfortunately, that gun just kinda sits in the safe now.

Tried to order still charges shipping

I ordered on Monday, 3/4. Got the discount and free shipping. Don't know if I got the free T-shirt until my order arrives on Monday

  10. It didn't take long for my hands to get used to the A3 grip texture. The only place I get some rough skin is on my support hand just below the base of my thumb. I think it's from when I "twist" my hand against the grip surface when I form my grip. Definitely shows up after a bunch of dry fire, not so much during a match.

I would not change mine to a less aggressive texture either. My hands really sweat in the Summer so I'm looking forward to shooting it later this year.

Just picked mine up today. Great gun but I’m surprised that the grips aren’t more grippy. Kinda bummed about that.
And I’d like an extended slide stop but not sure if any one will fit

What grip did you select - A2 or A3? I have the A3 and everyone who has held it calls it a cheese grater but I like it. My only beef is I wish they offered a true LH ambi safety with the wider "ledge" on the RH side. I may end up replacing that with one from Atlas if it will fit on the DS9.

  12. You folks know a lot more about custom gun makers than I do. What do you think about Cabot Guns in PA? Reason I ask is I am a LH shooter and I saw they make a LH 1911 that is a mirror image of a 1911 (ejection port on left, etc). They say they are full custom and the details of parts, etc look promising. I need this gun like a hole in the head but I am in a position to buy one ($6300+) just because. Big negative the turnaround is 18 to 24 months.

Would love to hear your thoughts about quality, reputation,  etc.

Why switch from Titegroup if it works? Price has gone up but not as much as some and it is readily available.

I was/am a long time Titegroup user but it is known as a dirty powder. I think that's why a lot of people don't like it. I recently bought 4 lb of N320 and will use that before deciding whether to switch back.

  14. A pilot once told me that green was better than red for older people when looking at instrumentation. I like the green better but then again I have eye issues and I am 65 years old. If you can, see if you can shoot someone else's pistols with red and green dots to see if you perceive one to be better than the other.
