Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. This is basically what dillon told me when I was on the phone asking them about threading the hole on my sdb to accept a barb for primer catching (instead of using the bucket). Said as long as the mod wasn't was caused the failure, they'd still cover it. That is according to the guy I talked to on the phone (was over a year ago, no clue who it was)
  2. I'm the third owner of my press. Dillon knows I aquired it used. I admitted it and stated that the tool head was missing a piece when I bought it and I wanted to know what it would cost to get a new one with a couple spare decapping pins sent out. The 4 word response was this: Please send your address. Thank you, Dillon Precision Products, Inc. I'm of course not counting the signature block that is probably added to every email. Looks like they're just going to send me some. Totally impressed by this company. I'm so glad I went with the sdb vs. the load master I also had an opportunity to get. Dont think you get much less bs than that. Its not a part that was upgraded later, its a part required to get the press running. I admitted to never owning that part.. and it looks like they're still going to cover it. I'll be building out the 450 frame I have with 550 parts (except for the tool head) just to keep these guys in business. Yes, I know it will cost more to build it out than to purchase a BL 550 and up grade it.
  3. My 9mm die set is backordered (and one set sold for 190 on ebay.. wow, crazy). They're shipping me something out on warranty that I should be paying for (not one to look a gift horse in the mouth here) and I suspect its something that will ship quick because its a very common set of parts (specifically decapping pins and the 4th station on my sdb tool head).
  4. I contacted Dillon about the missing part asking for a quote on it (and a couple spare decapping pins). Owned up to it being a used press.
  5. Now that right there is genious. I under lubed a .308 and got it stuck in a lee die.. so stuck the rim ripped off, and the freaking decapping pin removed itself. I just took a hammer and beat the back of the pin out.. taking the case with it. Mushroomed the hell out of that decapping pin, a little bit of grinding, some time in the vice straightening it again, and all is well, for now.
  6. While I appreciate the suggestions.. packing up the press and sending it 3/4 across the nation when I haven't verified that it works or not I feel is not the right answer in this case. I'm missing 1 part, for a tool head. Its indexing fine as far as I can tell. Primer system is working correctly, and easily adjusted. Unless parts are worn out of tolerance, there is no need to rebuild. I'm the guy that gets something and tares it down to component and rebuild them from ground up anyways. By the time I've loaded my first round on this machine, I'll have broken it down to components, cleaned them, lubed the friction points, polished up any burrs, and modified the primer ejection to drop it into a coffee can... Sending a working machine to be refurbed just adds work to an already overloaded working group of guys and just adds to the work that is contributing to back orders. Brian from support said I'll have to order the insert from station 4 from dillon. Thanks guys.
  7. I JUST got a used Dillon SDB. It came with tool heads, etc. What it didnt come with are dies that I could use, so off they got sold to fund the dies I do need. I kept one of the tool heads, but pulled the dies out of it. Kept the decapping stem/pin and the powder die, but pulled the crimp adjustment die out in a fit of idiocy. I've already mailed off the parts to the purchaser, so I need to get a new one. I dont expect it free, but I'd sure like to be able to order the parts for when my dies get here. Here are the parts I'm going to want (either extra or to replace my own stupidity): Decapping pins Crimp die body (not the part that just drops into the press, the part that should have stayed with my tool head) Anyone got part numbers and a recommendation as to where to buy? Should I call Mr. Enos up and see if he has some not attached to tool heads or would I be best served contacting dillon directly? THAT said, I have some worries about function of the sizing die. It appears to be held in by the lip against the bottom of the tool head. That is not metal, and is potentially subject to compression.. Has anyone noticed any variance with that die in any of their setups? I dont see any of the others being held in place by the bottom of the tool head but by something that screws through the tool head. One more thing, sizing glocked brass... better to just not do it or non-issue with the sdb? Thanks, Alan
