Finally getting my press setup. If the powder funnel is belling the case a little does that mean I have the die set too low?

Did you insert the Mr bullet feeder powder expansion into the Lee Universal expander?

I made this change and it helped immensely.  Learned from the Mark 7 setup video.

I wish my Dillon powder measure was that precise. That would be more than good enough for me.

There are other issues with the powder drop on long useage 300+ primers, I need to pick up a nylon nut like other suggested to stop the powder measure dial from moving.

  3. Evolution manual powder drop data point:

Set for 5.0grbdrop of pistol powder, very fine ball powder.

Manual cycle 10 drops.. total weight was 50.06 great.

Midway thru a primer tube, pulled dropped powder case, measure from case 5.04gr.

I just got mine yesterday.  Have it about 60% assembled.  Not sure how to tell what measure I have.

Did you decide on using the included Lee die set or use your old dies.

I setup the included Lee die set, but might order the mighty armory dies now...

Everything is setup besides the bullet feeder for me tonight.  The Evolution is so smooth.

Thanks from the info tanks. Perhaps someone with a manual Evo will chime in with similar. Cheers

The manual powder drop has a similar powder die and bolt attachment like a Dillon powder drop.

The evolution manual powder drop is as if a Dillon and a Hornady had a perfect machined tank powder drop baby.

The powder drop adjustment and lock are beautiful....

I designed an ammo chute for the Mark 7. I heard it also works on Dillon 1050.

It's a 10x10cm square that shrinks into a 52.2mm circular tube that fits common vacuum cleaner hoses.

Awesome, I just ordered a printer last week this will come in handy.   Keep designing, Evo accessories!  :)

UPS guy can't get here quick enough today for my delivery!

  7. Well officially joining the Evo owners group soon.. Shipping label created, expected to arrive on Monday!

It has been a long wait, but now that it is almost here.. I cannot tumble enough brass and get more bullets ordered by monday...  5k would be a good learning batch right?

So, I only have one press haha (technically a second in a Redding Big Boss II) - that said, not having the ability to have a dedicated head for processing are y'all saying I should process on one pass, then load the rest of the dies and load? Just trying to determine optimal process since it seems that tumbling is best done decapped to clean the primer pocket.

Unsure if folks in my situation unload their tool head or not. Maybe one day I'll get a second setup just for this!

Before you commit to decapping and then tumbling... try tumbling with primers in then reloading.  See if you experience a difference in accuracy for the loads and competitions you shoot in.

I keep primers in and tumble for my USPSA match ammo.

This results in an extreme spread of 0.26gr, so +/-0.13gr, and an SD of 0.072gr, avg of 25.29gr.

So let this be a future reference data point for all of you.  It was also using a pretty full cylinder of powder.

If anything I bet these numbers could be improved upon.  The one 25.44gr charge happened after the case neck hit the hold down die and I had to adjust it, and if you take that out it becomes a spread of 0.16gr or +/- 0.08gr.  I have an idea of how to accomplish primer hold down without the hold down die, and not using a friction fit 223 body die.  I'll see how it works in the near future.

Are you using the base powder drop or the programmable powder measure?

At least I got my Evolution with autodrive yesterday (through DAA). Quite happy with it based on quick tests/setup, awesome machine. Now I'm just waiting for powder sense, bulletsense, conversion kits and spare toolheads to become available...

    Congrats!  Jealously over here.

:( im a month after you.  I sold my 1050 with M7 to buy the Evo.  I made a lot of ammo before I sold but have run out.  I've started buying ammo from friends.  Having professional ammo made for Nationals.  Maybe its like SV and they artificially keep the wait times long to keep the allure of exclusivity high.  haha.  Im just a pretty impatient person when it comes to anything.

Yep, Same boat here, reloaded what I thought would be a couple months worth of ammo for practice and matches.  Sold presses in March a 650 and 1050 ...  My Mark 7 Autodrive looks lonely on the bench just sitting there..   While I appreciate the 550B, I despise it as I know a better reloading life is for me.

My biggest hope is having ordered the Autodrive Conversion parts doesn't further delay my Evolution order.  I've had some contact with Mark 7, the customer service reps are very nice, but unable to nail down an actual production date or shipment ETA for me.

How’s your extractor? That’s one of the weak points of the PSA/NFA BCG.

I've switched to a AR9 Bolt with an .223 style extractor a while back, the PSA bolt now is in the backup PCC.  I am trying to eliminate my failure points trying to determine the cause of my weekend match issues and upgrading as I do have an older lower.

It is legal. Read the rules that went into effect when the division left provisional status, and was made permanent.

(Happened at the same time aftermarket safeties, hammers, and things like APEX flat triggers were OK’d in Production.)

Thanks for the info!  This gives me some more options.
