  1. Yes it says crimp die, I thought same thing set dies up per instructions and wen I started adjusting every little turn produced no diffrence until it starts popping. This is what I found on dillons we site. " Hello everyone, I just got my 550B a couple of days ago and had a buddy come over and help me setup. I have experienced a problem with the crimp die binding. The bullet will bind when coming out of the crimp die and will have brass shavings on the case. The crimp measurement is .471 ish. Also, I tried backing out the die until it doesn't bind anymore. However, at that point it won't fit into the case gage. Any help would be greatly appreciated." "Hey everyone. Looks like it was the die. My buddy has been reloading for about 4 years and put my crimp die in his machine and it was doing the same thing with the binding. Then he put his die back in and it was fine. He used my brass and bullets to recreate the same scenario on his machine as mine. So, I'll be calling Dillon, hopefully for replacement. It sounds like their customer service is top notch." Mine looks the same as he describes he also goes on to say he contacted dillon and they new what he was talking about and was sending him replacement insert. Thanks for suggestions.
  2. Needing help with dillon 45 ACP crimp die problem. This is my second rl550b loaded on one about 8 years ago 9mm, 45 ACP and 32 win special. After getting machine all set up and running (everything is new) about 1000 + rounds of 9mm decided to set up my other tool head for the 45 ACP. I am having a problem in the crimp die, I started slow on crimp but as I adjusted wasn't seeing any change if any. Finally got it to crimp at .470 but still looks like i need .469 to fall out of barrel on its own. dont want to go any further. This is the problem when the case leaves crimp die it pops like it is hung up also finding little slivers of brass. The shell plate is all correct no slop, other dies set up good, I am belling to about .015 over case mouth size. I tried some other brands of brass all same results. I have only loaded couple dummy rounds of each brass type and decided to not go any further until I can find the problem. I did read in another form that there has been a few 45 ACP crimp dies labeled as 45 ACP but are not. Has anyone else experienced or heard of this. Thanks for any info or help.
  3. Hi was needing a little help. I have had a dillon 550 in the past and loaded 9mm and 45 ACP. So got my new rl550b with every thing to load 9mm and 45 ACP last week. All went well with the set up and loading the 9mm ammo. So I decided to set up the 45 dies on another tool head and got dies set up but the problem I am running into is at the crimp die. By the way every thing bought is new, resize and decap goes good, the powder bell is around 012" larger than the sized case mouth just enough to get bullet to stay for seat, seating goes good. Now the crimp. Crimp to .472 little problem dropping in barrel so I adjusted to .470 to .469 and that is good. But when I lower platform back down it pops coming out of the crimp die and I am finding little slivers of brass. It's not digging into the bullet it's just that pop coming out of die that just doesn't seem right. Never noticed this when I loaded 45 ACP on my dillon 8 yrs ago. So I have stopped as I should because I think there is a problem. I have read in a few forms that dillon has sent people new crip dies because they might have been missed marked. Any suggestions
