  1. take the tape off, stipple frame, paint it. Save 150$.

I've been wanting to do mine for awhile but I'd be a little disappointed if it didn't turn out as good as the grips I see online. I did see a place online that uses your grip and it's only $90 or $95 to have your own grip worked on.

  2. Everytime I've needed a part they've been very polite and helpful with the exception of last week. I talked with somebody last week that was kind of a smarta**. In their defense I'm sure with the amount of calls they're getting it's probably hard not to get frustrated sometimes. It's amazing how there no BS warranty really is no BS. With the service I've received from them over the years I wouldn't consider buying anything else.

  3. I'm new to this forum and don't want to be accused of being a troll or coming on here and complaining about a manufacturer.
When I opened the box is was pretty obvious the bullets were not the same. If I found one or two in the box it would be different, but it was almost 50/50. I would hope anyone that reloads would at the very least take a couple of random measurements on new bullets before using them.

  4. I don't know about accuracy but I can say that I like the Redding Competition die set better than the Dillon dies. I had the Redding on my 650 and found it to be very easy to setup exactly where I wanted it. I just bought a new 550 and purchased the Dillon dies for it and it seems like I have to do alot of tweaking to get it where I want. With the Redding I could set the OAL and crimp exactly where I wanted it in a few seconds, with the Dillon it takes more time and I can't get it as precise on the seating. I do like the way the Dillon dies break down for cleaning though.

  5. I just finished loading 200 rounds of Xtreme .45 230g and had a question about the crimp I ended up with. My finished crimp was .473 which I thought was a little much but as you can see from the pics the diameter below the mouth is .473 also. The bullet diameter was .452-.453 so to me it only made sense to make it the same diameter at the mouth. I put a few in my TRP and they seemed fine. I'm pretty much positive this is correct but I just wanted to make sure. I checked some of my older ammo (I haven't reloaded in a few years) and everything was .469-.470 and the bullet diameter wasn't as wide as the Xtreme below the mouth.

  6. I recently purchased an Apeiro with the AET barrel and read about the possible issues with plated and lead bullets after the fact. I've been shooting factory ammo and it's done very well with it. Yesterday I took it out with my first batch of reloaded ammo and found something that was kind of interesting. I had 100 rounds of newly loaded ammo which contained 180g xtreme bullets loaded with 5, 5.2, 5.4, and 5.6 grains of WSF with an OAL of 1.17 and a crimp of .421. I also brought 100 rounds of ammo I had loaded a few years ago before I stopped reloading. These bullets were 180g Precision with 5.1g of 231 with an OAL of 1.135 and a crimp of .422. The Xtreme bullets shot very well and the lighter loads seemed very accurate while having little recoil. I actually liked the 5 grain loads the best, they cycled the gun well and the recoil was so soft I'm still kind of shocked. The Precision bullets had quite a bit more recoil (more like the higher grain loads), were definately not as accurate, and were tumbling. I had 4 targets setup at 25 yards and you could see nice patterns and holes in the targets with the Xtreme bullets and more erratic patterns and what looked like tears in the Precision targets. I like Precision bullets and have always had good luck with them but it does seem that the AET barrel can be a little finicky on bullet types or may need tweaking to shoot certain types. Anyway, after 600 rounds my Apeiro hasn't had one issue and it seems to like plated bullets.

  7. I just finished loading 100 rounds of 180g plated bullets with WSF and was really impressed with the lighter loads. I used 5, 5.2, 5.4, and 5.6 with an OAL of 1.17 and really liked the 5 grain load. Even the guy I was shooting with said the recoil felt great and seemed to be more accurate with the 5 and 5.2 grain loads. I was using them in my STI Apeiro with AET barrel.
