  1. Thank you.

I will heed the advice. I'll order a couple of cases from BBI and put a back order in with Precision.

Dave from Precision did get back to me by the way. Couldn't do samples because he doesn't have any was the short of it.

Said 9MM projectiles are going to be an issue for another year or two.

I ordered a case last fall and it took 3 months. I ordered the UPS case from BBI and it shipped next day and have been using those exclusively since they are one of the few still shipping fast. Prices have gone up a bit since last order but that's just the case with any raw materials right now.

Order a case from precision and a case from BBI to use while you wait. I previously was RMR 124s but with dropping the bull order options I went to coated to save some cash.

Thank you for all the feedback. I really appreciate it.

I have been using RMR and Everglades pretty much exclusively for years and years, but the current situation has almost eliminated that option. Waits are insane and prices have skyrocketed. Plus RMR dropping the bulk option is almost a deal breaker. I had bulk orders in my cart last fall but got sidetracked and never put the order in. Wish I could have that to do over.

I have a pretty good supply on hand, just trying to plane ahead.

  3. Looking for info on Precision Bullets from those who have used them. And how they compare to other coated bullets. I scoured this forum, the web, and YouTube but there isn't a ton out there. There are misc post here with sporadic info, but all just general stuff.

There was an add on here for 40 Cal Precision Bullets and someone commented that they were the best coated bullets they had used. Said they used some type of proprietary coating that was different than all the other. It sparked my interest. Wondering how much is truth and how much is hype.

I started with bare lead pistol bullets when I first started reloading years ago. Then switched to plated. Then tried coated lead (S&S Casting, Missouri Bullet, maybe a couple others). Then finally went to FMJ's and JHP's. At the time, if you purchased the later in quantity they really weren't that much more expensive than coated lead or plated and were just so much better that for a couple bucks more per 1000 it was well worth it.

I have enough powder and primers to last a lifetime, but I did not anticipate that projectiles would be so hard to come by this time. I didn't stock up on projectiles and I am regretting it now. During the past shortages projectiles were the one thing that I really never had trouble getting so I naively though the same would hold true this time. I was obviously wrong.

I have plenty loaded for now, and still some unloaded to work with, but at some point here in the near future I'm going to need more. Lots more. I shoot anywhere from 5000-10000 rounds a year depending on the year (across all my calibers, both rifle and pistol).

With the current run on reloading supplies and sky rocketing cost of raw materials I'm looking at possibly going back to coated pistol bullets for bulk shooting and like I said this brand caught my eye.

Do they really smoke less, and are they cleaner than other lead and coated bullets? Is the proprietary coating really better? I'm clear on how to load lead properly. I've loaded thousands and thousands of them. I understand powders, bell, and crimp makes a UGE difference with lead and coated. Not really looking for loading info.

I tried reaching out to them to see if I could get a small sample, but haven't heard back. May try calling them today.

Has anyone ordered from them recently? I saw there were a couple comments in the Recent Bullet Order thread, but they were from late last year. Hadn't seen anything current.

    Much appreciated.

My G41, with stock frame, feeds and ejects the 3.2 gr load with both 11 and 13# ISMI springs. I put the stock recoil spring back in last night. It cycled with a 3.5 gr load of Clays. Only fired three rounds in the basement before my trophy bride yelled at me. I don't see the need to polish the chamber as it runs without any issues using the stock frame.

    Okay

  5. I was having similar issues with a g21 I built entirely from Lonwolf Parts. I have 3 different large frame glocks built entirely from Lonewolf parts. 2 45’s and one 10MM. I assembled all the guns from scratch.

Try this. Sounds silly but it worked for me. I determined that the case was getting stuck in the chamber after firing and expanding. And thus the extractor and ejector were having a tough time getting the case out of the chamber.

I simply polished the feed ramps and inside of the chamber with a Dremel, cloth polishing tips (off of Amazon), and Mag wheel polish till it glowed. Didn’t resize the chamber at all, but completely eliminated the issue. Feeds flawlessly now. Just 200 rounds through it 2 nights ago doing some night training.

    Worth a shot.

I’m a bit frustrated with the Dillon 1500 trimmer. No matter what speed I drive the tool head or how many passes I make, the carbide cutter produces a long strand of brass that wraps around the cutter spindle and clogs up the mechanism. I can’t trim more than two pieces without pulling a rats nest of thread from the cutter. After talking with Dillon I re-indexed the carbide cutter to try another cutting service - no joy.

Is there another style of carbide insert with chipbreaker grind?

I want to resize and trim 223 brass down to 300blk in ONE pass. I don’t wanna fart around with chopsaw’s and multiple tool heads.

I think you case is spinning in the die as the case is cut down, before it reaches the 300 BO shoulder, hence the final picture.

It’s a lot of brass coming off. Make sure you have sufficient suction on the vacuum.

Try one of the chip breaker cutting heads. They don’t eliminate the problem but they help.

  7. Unless your suppressor is user serviceable, exposed lead rounds through it are a bad idea. And if it is user serviceable make sure sure you clean it right after you shoot it with lead bullets. Right after. I’m telling you this from experience.  I’m not even using straight lead. They are coated. And it’s a PIA to clean.

As far as the barrel question goes, just pick one of the after market ones you like the looks of. They will all work just about equally. Many of the barrels are made to spec by the same manufacturers and rebranded by different companies.

And yes the Gen 5 barrels are the “tightest” glock barrels to date. I have a Parker Mountain Machine barrel and comp coming for my 19X but I don’t have it yet so I can’t tell what the throat is like.

When using straight cast lead bullets it’s gonna be tough to know whether a particular bullet will work with a particular barrel without trying. I know that’s not the answer you’re looking for but it is what it is.

  8. I bought the C&H Defender polymer plate for the Holosun 508T V2.

I was a little skeptical of the polymer plate but I love it. Rock solid. Sits closer to the slide. And it takes up all the extra room so there is no room for the RDS To live anywhere.

I’m tough on my guns. But Arron Cowan of Sage Dynamics is WAY harder. He beat the snot out of the polymer plate and gave it the thumbs up.

  9. I love my Armanov. I have one in 9, 40, and 45. I think they are made incredibly well. I like that they included both the gauge and the flip tip.

I think Shok makes you pay extra for the flip top and it's made of plastic. If I'm not mistaken.

Plus I'v had some really great customer service form Armanov. The guys over there are top notch.

Armanov has all kinds of accessories for the gauges as well. One to mark the cases. Another that lifts the cases up to check for uniform COAL. It's pretty innovative.

  10. I bought a 1000 pieces of Lapua from Graffs on close out. But I use it for SD rounds not major. Good stuff. Wish I’d bought more at that price. Shoulda woulda coulda.

Range pick up for major. Can’t see any reason to use anything else.

No kidding, what's up with that?  I can see the jacketed and copper coated companies giving priority to ammo manufacturers, but the coated bullet companies don't have those contracts.

    I’m sure it’s a conspiracy....

  12. No wonder ,we cant find primers, all the ass^^^^s on gunbroker have them and with those kind of prices they are selling them for, All I can say is they can shove them where the sun doesnt shine !!!
OK, yes I know I should have jad enough foresight to see this coming and bought a few extra, But since Im not shooting any matches what I have will do me for awhile!
It just gets me , how some people talk about buying in bulk, then you see things like the the gunbroker sharks selling primers for quaddruple what they are worth. And I would bet that some of those are some of the very same people that talk about buying primers so they could stock up and be ready for these lean times!
But I will say, I have been able to replenish my supply of bullets! Xtreme is on the bal with getting their orders out and in a short amount of time.

I hear anger and resentment in your voice.

Even if everything you espouse is true...so what? So people have a product that is in high demand and they sell said product for the going market value...what’s the issue?

I’ve asked this question before, but again what’s the right price? You don’t have to answer. It’s a rhetorical question. The market sets the price. That’s how the free market works. The problem is in this country we don’t really have a free market. Sheepole think we do. But don’t kid yourself. We don’t.

They are worth what people will pay for them. Econ 101. If they aren’t worth the price being requested they won’t sell.

More people need to read “Economics in One Lesson” by Henry Hazlitt. Maybe if more people actually understand the most basic laws of economics we then we could turn this sh_t show around.

    Agree.

I usually run practice knockdown matches in the winter, but with COVID and the ammo shortage I'm not what to do.  Most of the guys that show up aren't reloaders, so I'd hate to see them go out and spend $35+/box for ammo (if they can find it).  We want to run SOMETHING, but not sure what to do.

Maybe grab a case of .22lr and just do rimfire.

You know where to find a case of 22LR? [emoji38]

  14. I’ve got more supplies right now than I might ever use in my lifetime.

And when things get better I’ll buy more.

And when I die my kids can have it or sell it. I highly doubt the stuff will go bad or depreciate.

Consider it a transfer of wealth. In the correct direction.
