  1. How important is chamber to bullet length? The backstory: I'm getting a custom 6-inch barrel and the complete top end made for my 40sw. The current 5-inch barrel will only accept a cartridge OAL of 1.15 using extreme 180grn. The barrel maker informed me that they cut their chambers for a max length of 1.2. I want to be able to use these top assemblies interchangeably with my frame. Will the .05 difference in chamber length affect the accuracy of my load. This is assuming I don't ream out the factory chamber of my 5-inch top end. Thanks in advance.
  2. I sure will. I had a chance to visit their shop and check out their operation. They were really cool guys. The barrels are made from blanks, literally huge chunks of metal with a hole in it, then they CNC machine it down. Eric, the owner suggested I bring in the slide so he could take measurements for a perfect slide fit. They also are doing the slide lightening and tri-top for me. Some of the other stuff they are working on looks great quality as well. Their 2011 grips are awesome. They are a small crew with day jobs and work the shop after hours and weekends. I left feeling really good about leaving my gun in their capable hands. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. The slide was cut by EGW for Para as a "upgrade" package. You can still purchase them off of ebay, but the guy wants a lot. Yes I'm doing most of the work. The Rock Island was just dropped off to Limited10 to do a custom barrel, tri-top and lightening cuts on the slide.
  4. Hi All. I’m looking to convert my RIA doublestack to a six incher. I’m hoping to get some recommendations for a 6 inch bull barrel, must be ramped and Para/Clark cut. What barrel are you guys using or which do you recommend? I was looking into the limited 10 barrels. I was going to buy just now but figured I’d ask here fist. https://www.l10-machine.com/collections/parts-accessories/products/integral-coned-barrel I would just go RIA but they only make a 10mm. I’ve heard you can shoot 40 out of a 10mm but I would rather get the right one. Below is my RIA project. The one on top is my 6inch 9mm project. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. reposted in the RIA thread
  6. I'm using STI mags/Taran basepads and para oem/dawson basepads. You can always get MBX for para mags for the extra baller special effect.
  7. I wouldn’t sand it. Look at my above comment. Just return it for the correct size if you can still return it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I’ve tried that already. If you sand it down too much it will sit loose in the dove tale cut. I had to red lock tight it so it doesn’t fall out. I didn’t want to return it because of that. It still works, but it’s a little fugly [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Yes, agreed. That's why I'm recommending the .160 height from experience.
  10. 020-276 .160 tall x.100 wide partridge is what I got. I also got the .90 width and noticed that my eyes could acquire the target faster. For me the .180 tall sits way too high. With the .160 my rear sight is four-six clicks over full bottom out. .180 took 10-12 clicks from bottom. It’s all personal preferences though. Good thing about Dawson, you can return the sight if you want it taller or shorter. Bellow is the .180. The sight sits high. The .160 sits flush, I would take a picture but the gun is out at the smith. Hope this helps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Dawson has the sights you are looking for. My preference was for a .165 sight on my RIA’s. I purchased the .180 and had to adjust the rear sight too high. The Sights RIA uses is the LPA Sights (brand) not to be confused with the LPA style cut. A quick google search will bring you to their website. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. That looks way better IMO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Sorry lol. I bought five a while back and just checked if they have any more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. If anyone is interested, you can find the discontinued Dawson magwells for Para frames and RIA frames without factory magwell here: https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/1514280?utm_source=bronto&utm_medium=email&utm_term=%25%25$cart.item.description%25%25&utm_content=Your+Order+W1941433+has+been+placed+on+Numrich&utm_campaign=Web+Order&_bta_tid=272024451821392247424613592940324653870538234266304602883721367076713614288175858275188923420086493227 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Hey guys, just wanted to share. I opened my fattie up to accept all my basepads. It wasn’t hard to do at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Just a heads up to anyone waiting for the Factory Longer RIA Mags for 40sw/10mm from Greg Cote, I just received an email this morning stating they are now back in stock!
  17. Mine holds 22 with factory follower and Dawson pads. Haven’t checked length but I don’t think they’re uspsa legal. They’re pretty long. Not sure about the TF basepads. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. STI, Para, mecgar all worked in mine. If you can get the longer Greg cote magazines you will be good. RP9 mags only worked in my 9mm’s, and do not work in the 40. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. That’s pretty tall as the stock one is .160, I purchased .180 and still had to adjust the rear sight pretty high to achieve zero. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I've been hearing a lot about HCG and how well they build the RIA's. What exactly do they do to modify and tune them. I'm interested.
  22. No worries, I'm glad I can help. The one in the picture is still the plastic mainspring housing, an older picture. if you look closely I place a metal plate between to keep the screw from digging into the plastic. The one I ordered from EGW is here: http://www.egwguns.com/1911-parts/1911-egw-mainspring-housing-blue/
  23. I’ve been running the RIA Tactical in 40 for a while now in USPSA. Only modifications are a trigger job, 12lb variable recoil spring, 15 lb main spring, TF magwell and GC mags with Dawson extensions. Had to open up the magwell a bit to run those basepads. It’s loosened up a bit but runs flawlessly and flat. I’ve recently started reloading which greatly improved its shootability with custom loads. Also invest in a metal main spring housing because the adjustment screw on the TF magwell ends to dig into the plastic main spring housing causing the magwell to loosen up after a while.
