  1. I'd rec'd getting a plate system so you're not stuck with a single optic mounting pattern should you choose to switch down the road (say from your 507k to SRO). If funds allow, buy a new complete upper to do it with. The one downside is an ever so slightly "taller" optic but totally worth the ability to swap out optics via different plate. (Others may likely tell you the exact height decrease if you choose a direct slide mount vs plate system)

  2. If your wallet can handle it, do it! Personally I feel it's a good idea to have an identical backup gun (and parts for the easy repairs).

I think this also depends on how serious you are in USPSA (or want to be). I've only been a competitor in level 1 matches but hope to step up to major matches relatively soon (Wish I had more time!). If you need to travel for majors, you'll likely need to pay your way there (match fees, lodging, time taken off, etc.) and so I think it's wise to bring a backup in case your main breaks down during the match for whatever reason.

  3. Hey guys. Sooo...I just got a P365 and was doing a complete strip of the firearm and lost my striker safety spring (That's a story for another day...). Does anyone know where to find a replacement spring without buying the striker safety as well? I have signed up to multiple websites to notify me when the striker safety + spring is back in stock but none have them in stock currently. I do have a pretty extensive hardware store nearby so specs on the spring would be great too (length, OD, thickness of the coil, # of coils, and this could be a far reach but spring stiffness in lb/in?).

As a sidenote, I currently have a reduced power CZ firing pin block safety spring (from CGW) in the firearm.  It fits in the groove of the striker safety perfectly and does also provide enough spring force down in order to block the striker if an inadvertent drop+slip of the sear+striker assembly occurs.

I did email SIG and asked to see if they would be willing to send the spring itself but I haven't heard back from them yet.

I appreciate all the advice in making sure I am careful, have the appropriate tools/workspace/lighting/white towel/etc.  This was a one-off situation where parts went flying all over the garage floor...

    Thanks!

Is it still production legal after the mod?

Yes, legal. USPSA Rulebook Appendix D4, 21.6:

Sights, firing pins, firing pin retainers, pins, extractors, magazine releases, slide stops, thumb safeties, triggers, hammers, bushings, and ejectors MAY be replaced with OFM or aftermarket parts.

Anybody know if the RRK forces you to use Federal primers in your ammo? Or are the harder primers like CCI still viable?

I highly doubt it.  I would say reliable ignition is mostly based on your firing pin length (extended or not), the firing pin spring (reduced or factory), and hammer spring.

  6. I didn't need to use a vise to install the H-pins from CGW into multiple factory hammers or multiple CGW disconnectors. I haven't needed to use anything other than a punch.

Getting factory pins out of the hammer is another story...

  7. Well, not a great experience to say the least.  I had a timer that I bought from a BE member awhile back (this is a different story, it was claimed to all be okay but the directional toggle buttons were sticking).  Anyways, I wanted to send it in to get it fixed so I called them and explained my issue and they provided an RMA.  So far so good.  However, after sending the timer over to CED, they called me and said that this was a pretty old timer (made in 2007 according to the serial) and when they opened up the timer, "pieces of the board/button fell out" and now the directional buttons are no longer working.  I wouldn't have mind paying them to get fix it but he said it's now "irreparable" (mind you everything was working except a sticky button).  The CED rep said that they'd be able to give me a 20% off discount on a new timer but that's all they can do....after all this I now much rather have my sticky button timer back as I value that way more than just a measly ~$20.

Is this reasonable? Maybe I need to get off my high horse but I've had much better luck with many other manufactures that would take care of customers better than how I was treated...

The Kaw Valley buffer is 7.5 oz and is extended length so you don't need any quarters. It cut the dot bounce in half at the very least.

What buffer spring are you using? I have the same buffer and also the KVP Extra Power 17-4 SS PCC Spring but haven't had a chance to test fire.

I'm local here in Tucson, just got an email that this Saturday's match has been cancelled. Don't know why, I haven't been to a match there in awhile. Working Saturday stinks!

Thanks for the heads up. I was looking forward to shooting somewhere new. If things change let me know!
