  1. Lately, I've had a shift in thinking away from heavy on the competition aspect of shooting towards more "tactical/combat" type of shooting and am thinking of converting the 9mm XDm 5.25.
Questions I have concern the sights and general set-up of the pistol. Initially, I want to purchase a set of night sights, possibly a magwell, and maybe an extended magazine release. In the long run, I'd like to have it as a suppressor host and will need a threaded barrel for it.

Anybody have thoughts or suggestions as to how I can go about this? I know that I can find most all of those components from the parts manufacturers that frequent this subforum. I've not been able to find much in the way of night sights for the competition model. Of course, I would always buy a mount and put a red dot sight in place of the rear sight.
  2. Per other thread pertaining to the ESP magwell:

Scott, you continue to amaze me with your skills. Now lets talk 140mm pads, springs and followers...

:) Working on it. I want to do something totally new, and I'm getting closer.

Mr. Springer, I don't get wrapped up in the iPhone/iPad/iSpy but I was wondering if you have a rough guesstimate for the new basepads would be available so I can throw money in your general direction when they're released? I'm placing an order for a magwell this coming week.
  3. Based on your first post... I would recommend the XDM 5.25, it is a very nice pistol. Fairly easy to upgrade or shoot it stock. It is legal in IDPA SSP. I like the feel of the CZ, but never have shot one. I think it is probably a better pistol and you would probably love it, I just think the lack of gunsmiths and the ease of aftermarket parts and installation would be a long term issue.

I'll echo Butter, I think my XDM 5.25 is fantastic. It is very easy to upgrade yourself, even if you aren't an experienced gunsmith.

  4. I ended up with a great forum member reaching out to me and I've made a good friend through this. I wish I could rate bowenbuilt, he'd get a 10/10, a handful of gold stars, and a few dinners on me if he ever snakes his way down to my neck of the woods.

  5. UAB looks like a completely different team this year.

Entirely new coaching staff with completely different offensive and defensive schemes, ended up throttling our in-state rivals, Troy, 48-10

  6. Finally! I have a legit excuse to not interact with others. I used the time to get ahead on this quarter of grad school and do some heavy research for my interview on Monday. Job is outside of my area and I've had to study up on current facilities and specific services provided.

On a bright note, hopefully phone service will be off all weekend B)
