Yeah I know I'm gonna keep shooting open believe me. Shot another 76% today so I must be doin something right. I can't get away from how much fun this is!
-
Since I had a buttload of berrys 124 I had to try em out. They held up fine at around 1390ish.
The 115 I didn't hold up at 1500+ that's required for major.
115 and 9.6gr hs6 is still my favorite in my gun
The power pistols loads are only adequate for 124/5 only from my gun at 173pf. The 115 with pp
Will not make major the velocity levels off at 1430 and drop off if I go any higher. Too much pressure
Still trying to get my hands in a lb of 3n37 or 105 to try
-
Didn't I just tell ya that Dave
-
Good job making it to b guys
Question is now do I focus on limited or open I made b in open as well
-
If possible I run in open and limited
-
I have been experimenting a bit with some different powders 9.6 hs6 with a 115 is my all time favorite but I have very limited amounts of it (
I have been trying 8.1gr of power pistol believe it or not, its not great but with a 125 I make 173 PF and the comp works decent.
There is no hs6 wac sil anywhere to be found here
Next I'm gonna give 105 a shot and maybe 3n37

You might have too much extractor tension try backing it of a touch see if that helps
-
Fte you need more extractor tension. Either check out an after as stated or add a crap load more to your extractor.
As for the stove pipes the brass is probably hitting the cmore mount. I had the same problems so I tuned my ejector to throw the brass lower. I was not getting stove pipes but it was still hitting the mount so I went with a 90 degree cmore mount. No hiccups anymore.
I know the steel master is designed for lower loads than major but still the recoil needs to operate the gun which means light recoil and main springs so I can see the ftf happening. Maybe try an extended firing pin to remedy that

could have shot better
and could have shot worse
heres most of the satges i forgot to pass the camera off for stage 2

what a great day of shooting!
-
Good luck this weekend! See everyone tomorow.
-
I shoot open with a Trubor and an Edge for limited absolutely love both of these guns. Open is a straight up blast!
-
I've got a trubor in 9 major and with the major loads I absolutely love this gun. With factory loads I absolutely hate this gun. Without the added gas to work the comp the recoil isn't any better than a glock, and I get stove pipes.

Well if I don't get an "A" code on the classifier I shot this weekend in limited ill hit "B" on the next run
-
-
So finished my 3rd match today felt fairly well good today been doing some dry firing
Finished 5th overall few "M" classes in limited put the spanking to lol
-
It's the same bullet so no not really however with the super the case has more capacity allowing for a larger range of slower powders to choose from
-
Since I'm new to open and compd guns I did try some factory 9 in my trubor for s&g's and reduce rounds for sighting in. I found 2 distinct problems with 9minor in a gun designed to fire major
The factory ammo constantly jammed/ stove piped and the gas wasn't even close to enough to keep the gun flat it jumped and had alot of muzzle flip
I'd imagine you are going to have to reduce spring weights substantially between recoil and mainspring just to get the gun to operate properly
And probably reduce the barrel weight and use a barrel without a comp
-
Thanks Dave, you took to open well. I thought about shooting limited for the state match but eh open is just too fun.
Load data is tricky. I shot 2 different loads on Saturday to get a feel for things
8.1gr power pistol 125gr at around 1380
9.5gr HS6 115 at 1497
The pistol runs flatter in the 171-174 pf range
I also had a few stove pipes practicing on Sunday so I went and got a horizontal mount I got to sight in today. Was tired of filing on my ejector to tune it up.

I get stage brain farts shooting limited lol especially after a malfunction(rare in my limited gun ussually ammo problem). It was an absolutely fun match definately had a slow start getting used to the gun in a match but all in all very productive day learning and by the last 2 stages I started to get the hang of it.
-
So today I shot open for the first time man what a great time!
Learned that its not as easy as one would think. Once I got the hang of it a bit started moving faster and shooting alot better just needed that awakening. After seeing the vids I definately need to carry higher, but other than that I'd like some outside advice if possible.

Either your yanking the trigger pulling the gun or your recoil spring is too heavy and the momentum from the slide going forward into battery is pushing the gun down
