  1. How many rounds are through the pistol? Carbon does build up under the extractor. A sharp blade and a tooth brush soaked in solvent does wonders.
  2. 2400 or H110/W296 will serve you well they both meter perfectly. I honestly like 2400 better with 170gr and up bullets. H110/W296 works better with 125gr to 158gr bullets for me.
  3. Thats good to hear. Another good load I found for Reference is. X-treme 356." 147gr HPCBRN New Starline brass CCI 500 SPP Hodgdon TiteGroup 3.2gr 1.150" C.O.A.L. 910fps Ave. 133pf. 1.5" groups at 20yards Very soft recoiling load. Please work up your own load. This load was safe in my pistol.
  4. I've used it under 124gr and 115gr jacketed and plated with ok results. Its a spirited powder but very accurate.
  5. Most three die sets from companies like RCBS , Hornady and Redding. Come with a Sizing/decapping die, an Expander die and a combination Seater/Crimp die. The bullet is seated and crimped in one operation. Some find this undesirable and wish to crimp in a fourth stage. Hope that's what you were asking.
  6. The one I bought did this to me Saturday while running drills. Never did find the Spring. Up until it flew apart the mag had run Flawlessly. Not sure if it's worth my time contacting them about it or not. =/
  7. May I ask what over all length you used?
  8. Hodgdon makes w231. Call them and ask about W231/HP-38 and see what they say.
  9. I believe all Winchester powders are made by Hodgdon are they not?
  10. What does the powder smell like? Just curious.
  11. As stated, these loads and overall lengths were safe in my pistol. Please work up your own loads. I posted for Reference only. Thanks
  12. I finally got around to Testing Loads in My New 5" Pro. The Pro I have is the new one dot 1-10" barrel. 16. Here in southeast Ohio we have a Ladybug problem. we have them by the millions and you never know where you'll find them. I notice one day while loading 38spl that their were a few lady bugs in the brass I was loading. I now dump every case and visually check it before loading. I also have our house sprayed every fall to help rid us of most of the darn pesky bugs.

  19. Was at a Gun show today in southeast Ohio and a dealer there had a lot of different powders. He had Alliant bullseye, Unique,2400 and different rifle powders ranging in price from $18 a pound to $19. He had Titegroup and Clays for $18.50 a pound. And a ton of other Hogdon rifle powders. I didn't think it was to bad a deal and restocked on several powders. =) I was running really low on Bullseye for 38spl loads.
