Overtravel shouldn't matter too much with respect to your symptoms. Sure sounds like too much pre-travel. Here is an often referenced video:

Make a list of the additional features and see if it's worth it for you. As for myself? I felt the Stainless Elite met my needs/desires better.

Anyone have any experience, or seen any review of the Meprolight micro RDS adapter? It's a sight replacement, with a quick release carrier designed to connect to the sight itself. I have a Sig P226 Stainless Elite I would like to mount a Leopuld Delta Point Pro on. Yes, I know having the slide milled is the best technically, but I really do not want to mill this particular slide. I also looked into a new slide, but Sig doesn't offer a Stainless RX slide, and hate the looks the Legion RX slide. I'm debating between a dove-tail platform adapter which replaces the rear sights, and this Meprolight adapter. It does ride a lil high, but I'm okay with that.
