  1. Guys, thanks again for all the good info. I ended up ordering a full set of five extended tubes from Manventure Outpost. Got Skeet, LM, Mod, IM and Full. The info from you guys helps in determining which one to use in various types of stages, however. AFTER I pattern the tubes, I'm sure I'll end up with a couple I use a lot more than the others. shuter
  2. Highsider, can you link to the particular "how to clean and lube a 930" post that you referred to? Would appreciate it. Got my lifter back from C-Rums and can't wait to get back to the range with it! Also have a set of extended tubes coming. Will update when I've shot some more. Thanks for all the input, guys!
  3. Nevermind...apparently a pin was in backwards. The solid pin near the front of the trigger guard (maybe a "hammer pivot pin"). Anyway, installed that way it wouldn't allow the lifter to drop down far enough. Good to go now!
  4. Guys, just got my lifter assembly back from C-Rums after having the lifter welded. Lubed everything and put it back together. Seems to work fine except that the bolt doesn't lock back when pulled to the rear? Ideas as to what the problem might be? Jeff did a nice job welding it up. I can't imagine the issue has anything to do with his work. Could it have something to do with the reassembly of the lifter assembly itself? Thanks in advance.
  5. I assume someone calls "hit" when steel is hit, and the shooter moves on. So, could be one shot, but you're saying not MORE THAN 3, right? As to paper, is a minimum of 2 shots/target automatic? Do they always specify how many shots to take on each target going into the stage? Sorry about my ignorance...
  6. Thanks guys! Great info here. Really appreciate all the help this site offers. Best gun site on the Net, imho. shuter
  7. Mark, to be sure we're on the same page, do the turrets have screws you loosen, or just lift up, reset to zero and push down? What method (if any) do they use to reset to zero after zeroing the center dot at 100 yards, for instance? Thanks
  8. Can't find this info on Burris's website or with a search on this site. Does anyone know definitively? Thanks
  9. Man, nearly the equivalent of 3 full 30-round mags on a single stage! Sounds like an assault on a major Taliban stronghold...
  10. Jesse, does that apply to both 20 and 30-round mags?
  11. Guys, just trying to get a sense of how many rounds one might go through in a typical 3-gun match, and how many in a typical stage? I know I've heard some guys say that a 30 round Magpul with the +18 extension will get them through most stages, so I'm guessing no more than 40-50 rounds per stage, typically? So, in a 1-day (local) match, how many rifle stages would there likely be? I know they're all different, just trying to get a sense of how many rounds I might burn through in an "average" match (if there is any such thing)? There's only one range close to me (45 miles or so) where they do 3-Gun, and I haven't been up there yet. Just starting to practice on my own. Thanks
  12. Seems like I've seen a number of Youtube stages (yeah, I'm still a Youtube commando at this point) where there is still and "pop up" clays on the same stage. I assume Light Mod is called for here, rather than skeet, despite the fact that the stage has clays?
  13. Crap, I already ordered 2 of the higher end pouches from them. Didn't take notice of the injection molded ones. Oh well. May need another for a 20 rounder anyway...that one will be the cheaper alternative. Thanks
  14. Seems like most guys carry the 20's bullets forward and index like a pistol mag, whereas with the 30's the majority carry bullets to rear. Makes sense, as the shorter mags seem more normal to load like a pistol?
  15. Do you guys know if a Tek Lok will snap over an ELS belt? Or is the belt too wide/thick?
  16. Isn't Improved Cylinder generally considered to be the tightest acceptable choke for slug usage? Are there stages where one might need slug/birdshot on the same stage?
  17. Looks like the consensus is that nobody really messes with Cylinder, with Light Modified a preferred all-around choice for majority of stages (even up to 90+%). Very helpful. Really appreciate your time, gentlemen. These are the 3 chokes I keep handy also. Light Mod about 90-95% of the time. Skeet if there are a bunch of close clays and Full for those little plates at distance.
  18. That's an interesting option. Didn't even know they were still around, to be honest. Do many 3-gunners use the Poly Choke II? I started buying entended chokes for my JM 930 and now wish I had bought a Poly Choke II instead. http://www.poly-choke.com/choke2.htm I may get one and sell my seperate choke tubes over the winter.
  19. I'm sure this sounds ridiculous, but I've read several times on the forums that, for a new shooter, start out with the ELS system. My issue is that I have a holster, pistol mag pouches and a couple AR mag pouches that all have Tek Lok. Will Tek Lock snap over an ELS belt, and then I could add ELS attachments for shell caddies, etc. in the future? Or, should I get a CR Speed belt and just clamp my Tek Loks on...then get Tek Lok attachments when I settle on a shell caddie arrangement?
  20. Thanks Mark. Guess I assumed full would be too tight...apparently not.
  21. If such a thing exists, what chokes would you guys recommend for the new 3-gunner? I'm getting a set of Tru-Lock extended tubes and I'm thinking Cylinder, Improved and Light Mod...I have a 930 JM Pro, by the way. Thoughts? Will a Modified tube come in handy or be too limiting, especially for an inexperienced shooter? On the other end, will a Cylinder tube be to hard to knock down steel with?
  22. Thanks guys! Looks like there's a Lula to use with stripper clips/vertical loading and another with the lever that works back and forth where you drop the rounds directly into the mag. For those who've used both...thoughts?
  23. Guys, what mag loaders do you use for these 2 guns? I assume experience shooters use something to assist in the loading of mags? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  24. So, were there issues going prone with this setup (ie, 4x4 on the side), or did it work out okay? What would you do differently, if not? Congrats on the result, btw!
