For my S&W M&P40, I use 180 grain Black Bullets International, BBI, over Winchester 231. I've loaded Laser Cast lead, Berry's, Rainier, and Zero's before. I much prefer the BBI's. They are very clean, and almost as cheap as lead (sometimes they are equal). Plus, they don't foul the chamber or the dies. I had a lot of lead build up in the top of the chamber, and the seating die really loaded up on lead. The BBI's have zero leading.
I cannot locate any W231 currently, so I'll likely be switching up. I've used Titegroup before with some plated/jacket bullets, but didn't care for it. Same with Blue Dot. It didn't burn fully for me on some loads. Shooting over snow revealed lots of powder that didn't burn till it left the barrel. I can use W231 on 9mm, 38spl, 357mag, 40S&W. All run great, no change of mixing powders.
