Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. For my S&W M&P40, I use 180 grain Black Bullets International, BBI, over Winchester 231. I've loaded Laser Cast lead, Berry's, Rainier, and Zero's before. I much prefer the BBI's. They are very clean, and almost as cheap as lead (sometimes they are equal). Plus, they don't foul the chamber or the dies. I had a lot of lead build up in the top of the chamber, and the seating die really loaded up on lead. The BBI's have zero leading. I cannot locate any W231 currently, so I'll likely be switching up. I've used Titegroup before with some plated/jacket bullets, but didn't care for it. Same with Blue Dot. It didn't burn fully for me on some loads. Shooting over snow revealed lots of powder that didn't burn till it left the barrel. I can use W231 on 9mm, 38spl, 357mag, 40S&W. All run great, no change of mixing powders.
  2. I have loaded around 2000 40's from BBI. I like them, and they perform great. Accurate, clean and priced right. And like many of the others, the owner (Chandler) shoots IDPA occasionally at the club I shoot at. He is local to me also, and a great guy. I used to shoot USPSA, then got into IDPA because that's what's here. He have me some pointers and tips a few times. I try to support those with great customer service. I just ordered 1000 9's and 40's. BBI has switched coatings. Their video online shows the smoke difference. Really looking forward to shooting these. *Edited to correct coating information.
  3. ^Thanks! That's about the charge I was thinking of. I'm planning in working up about 8 charges and trying them. I don't have a chrono, so I'll have to go off of others input. Hopefully I'll come across one to year with
  4. I've recently acquired a Springfield XD 9mm and I'm wanting to work up a load for IDPA. I currently shoot a M&P40 with Black Bullets International (BBI) 180 grain bullets over WIN 231. To simplify the bench and purchasing, I'll stick with 231. Does anybody have some load info for 135 grain BBI (or lead or Bayou) with WIN 231? Thanks! Matt
