Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hello Bob, are you planning to come out to Area 2 anytime soon? Thanks, Duane
  2. It is a special magazine that comes out once a year and focuses on the 1911 model. Last year it had little to no info on ISPC type guns, this year (it just came out on the news stands) they had about 8 pages dedicated to the short of IPSC shooting. One of the cool things they mention is that is you are looking to purchase a full custom race gun, Bob @ Brazos Customs is your man! I think they even had 2 photos for your guns. All in all a nice promo for you. The mag also had a very nice multi-page artical on Ted Yost and many of his custom guns. Bob, if you can't locate a copy of the magazine (I believe the official name is "The Book of 1911"), I would glad to pick up a copy this weekend and drop it in the mail to you. I haven't seen it on many news stands, but there is a small magazine store here near my house that carrys it. Let me know if you would like me to ship you a copy. Regards, Duane
  3. Thanks for the info Bob. Also - Did you see the magazine call "The Book of 1911" (I think that is what it is called...)? It had some nice info on IPSC and showed a few photos of your guns and spoke highly of your custom gunsmith services. Regards, Duane
  4. Hello Bob, Do you use or feel that shok buffs are needed in your BCG guns? I have been very happy with the way my Pro SC Limited shoots, but a lot of people really talk up the use of shok buffs and I would like to get our opinion on the subject. Thanks Duane
  5. Great articles Bob, lots of good info, a bookmark worth keeping handy. So Bob, what't your story, did you use to be a writer, what's your background and what lead you to become an IPSC "Grand Master" Pistolsmith? Any suggestions for people wanting to become a pistolsmith - you have mentioned before that you are not looking to have anyone work for you, so what's the best approach to learning the trade - I am serious about asking this question. Have you considered offering some classes? Regards, Duane
  6. Question 2 does pose an interesting challenge is you plan to shoot both USPSA and IDPA. Doesn't IDPA require the slide to lock back on the last round? Bob at Brazos did mention something about setting the his limited guns up with a slide stop that would lock back the slide on the last round, but cautioned doing this because of what could happen if the mag is inserted to far into the gun. Thoughs?
  7. Regarding questions 1 & 2: 1. OAL seems really important for proper feed - I am loading my 40 S&W at 1.21. The mags are designed for 45 ACP with a length of 1.25. 2. As I understand this problem, you get around it by inserting the mag into the gun with the slide closed - this will keep the mag from being inserted to far in the magwell. I have a Brazos Limited gun on order and they actually disable the slide lock function so the slide does not lock back on the last round. I hope this info helps. Duane
  8. Hey Bob, I have a questions for you - what recoil spring weight do you install in our Pro SC Limited and is there any need / reason to experiment with weights? Thanks, Duane
  9. Bob - do you use Virgil Tripp for your hard chroming? Do all metal parts including the barrel get hard chromed in your Pro SC Limited guns? I have been reading up on the process and was just curious. Regards, Duane
  10. Hi Bob - Ingi told me awhile back that ya'll would be at the Area 2 match, will you be shooting and vending? I look forward to meeting you in person. Regards, Duane
  11. Thanks Rob! Roger helped me out. Regards, Duane
  12. Thanks Rob - I emailed Angus this morning and tried calling this afternoon, but have not been able to get in touch with him. I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks, Duane
  13. Does anyone know if Zero Bullets (180g JHP 40S&W) are available locally in the Phoenix, AZ area? Thanks! DG
  14. Hey Bob - hope everything went well at Nationals last week! Quick question, what's the difference in serial numbers on your custom guns? I see some start with SAS and others start with CM - any difference or what does this reference? Thanks, Duane
