Hornady One-Shot, Get a 1 gallon zip lock bag spray the inside of the bag with the One-Shot and then put your cases in and seal it up, do the Shake and bake thing pour out your cases and load them up........this is easy, fast and clean. I don't even bother to clean off the lube after loading. As too your question I would supect the brake cleaner as the reason for the miss-fires.

Remove the front sight insert, the part that goes up and down with the acutal front sight on it, take it to your smith and have him dovetail it for a 1911 fiber optic sight of your choice and then re-insert it in your gun. If your not sure it will work or if theirs enough room for the dovtail order a new one and try it on that not your factory part.

Ya it'll work, I've got a STI Targetmaster in 9mm that I'm playing with for the Cup stuff, but my two main guns for metallic are a 587 with a 8" barrel and a four position rear sight set up for moon clips. The other is my production gun it's an old 586 8 3/8's stock except for the grips and the grease, finished in the top 5 with that on the metallic side about 3 years ago.
Was just thinking that if you shoot a wheel gun well stick with that, they are competetive............

I don't know the Temp on the (2) that I use they don't have external temp controls. I just allow them to run for about 20 minutes before I put the gun or parts in, then, I will allow the unit to run for 15-20 minutes then I check the gun or parts. Somtimes you need to do a little scrubbing on real dirty parts to allow the cleaner to get a foot hold on the dirt. I will sometimes run a part or gun about 3 cycles and when it comes out it is spotless.

I use Slip 2000 Cleaner degreaser in the one I have at work, and Brownells d'Solve in the one I have at home. Both units are heated the one at home is big, I can put a 8" revolver in it, the one at work is not that big. Both cleaners will do the job if the unit is heated, very little brushing if any needed.

On my rev I had an old Ron Power 4 position rib and cut off the rear sight and put it on the gun. I looked thru the gun catalogs and found a S&W style front sight base that has interchangable blades and put that on the front.
Last year when I talked to Warren about the mover front sight the price was way out of my reach, so unless he has started making more of them you will have to dig deep.

I built just what you are talking about, maybe 12 years ago. Mine was in 9mm, worked fine until I wore out the barrel. Then I sent it to EGW and they reworked the slide, fixed the slide to frame fit and added their 6" barrel and triple port comp. I installed a single action trigger and drilled and tapped it for a scope mount and put a PDP2 on it. The gun will shoot groups in the 1" to 1 1/2 inch area all day as long as you do your part. If I had to do it again I would buy the gun and send it to EGW first and not spend the money for the EAA barrel and comp.

+1 on the One Shot, but I use a 1 gallon zip lock bag I spray in a couple of squirts then put in my cases, seal up the bag and shake it up.

I would not waste my time with that brass..........HK's have fluted chambers and its very hard on brass.

I use Clays with a ZERO 158 gr LSWC, my load that shoots 825 fps in a 8" barrel is 3.4 grs load it to a factory lengh and crimp it hard, burns clean and is very consistant. For a 4" gun try 3.1-3.2grs and you should have a good load.

Well Martin I'm gonna let you slide on the HEIGHT of the targets, The unsupported standards say tops of targets will be approx. 6 feet above ground level. While the Ambidextrous match says they will be four feet above ground level to the bottom of the target. Is not the D-1 target 30" tall..........that seems to give you about 6" of play either way.
I always used the top of the target at 6' rule.

The Competitiors shall occupy separate, 3-foot square firing areas which shall be six-feet edge to edge. A stationary timer stop plate shall be positioned ten (10) yards down range of each competitior. Four knock down plates shall be spaced three feet apart edge to edge. All five targets shall be positioned in a fan to the left of the left side competitior, and to the right of the right hand competitior. The targets may be placed at varying heights at the decretion of the tournament

I use Zero 147 gr in my Les Baer long slide...........excellent accuracy. The 124 gr. JHP shoot tight little groups in my STI 9mm Trojan.

Listening is the hardest thing to do sometimes, but now that you have brought all the shooters together with the ideas that you have come up with, good or bad, I believe you have the perfect opportunity to place in front of all the SHOOTERS a list of things that might be a good change for the Cup.
This opportunity would be the 2008 Bianchi Cup.
