  1. With the pic of the right side of the barrel with the crack starting half way down the barrel there is even more evidence of a squip/barrel obstructution with a subsequent round fired causing the over-pressure failure. Still would love to get the barrel back to Sandy for analysis.

  2. While certainly difficult to tell exactly what happened, there is no doubt this is a severe over-pressure event and not just an issue with the material. The barrel failing at multiple different points, having enough pressure to also fracture the slide so badly as well as blow everything out the bottom of the magazine is not caused by a simple barrel failure. While no one ever wants to blame themselves for either a squib and cranking another one off or a double charge the evidence I can see surely looks that way. We see chronograph results of Open. Limited and Single Stack shooters all the time in the 190PF range at major matches almost every L2 and up matches. Those are ALL WAY over-pressure from SAAMI spec (with very few exceptions) but we don't have catastrophic barrel failure all over the place. The reason is that barrel can take a lot of pressure, just not double/squib pressure.

  3. Oh yeah, a BUNCH of the top shooters in the world are coming. Sign up to shoot the morning schedule and you can watch them in the afternoon's with their open guns.

Only 2 of the top shooters in the world aren't coming (not really, there are plenty of top shooters not coming but you know who I am referring to). One, as mentioned above has a conflict, the other.....hum, he just is scared.

  4. Is anyone running MBX mags in their SV IMM gun? I have several and run them in a different gun and they run great but they have not been running great in my SV gun. What says you?

Why would you? A MBX bigstick costs MORE than a SV.

  5. The last part of the job description of the Range Officer's job is "closely monitors safe competitor action." It is not a requirement to stop a competitor as we sometimes cannot react fast enough to stop a bad situation. The responsibility is with the shooter as it is his/her ammunition but IF the RO suspects a safety issue they should make every attempt to stop them.

  6. 8.6.4, "the Range Officer may offer the competitor a reshoot" , there is no automatic reshoot for contact or interference.

Now, with that said, I would just let the shooter attempt to remediate the issue for the full 2 mins or until he/she was obviously done before that. It sucks but that's the rules.

  7. This match was added to the 2016 Match announcements page but I figured I would post here separately as this is such a unique match.

It is a cash payout match with HUGE opportunities for everyone.

Stages will be a mix of close, far, stand and deliver, and running! Not like the run-a-thon Area 4 match :-).

12 bays with 12-16 stages, half-day shooting format with all shooters shooting Saturday/Sunday.

Can see us again to shoot with and see some of the best shooters in the world. We have most of the top Open and Limited shooters already signed up.

  8. Well, we have not built guns with Schuemann in more than 8 years. Do you know how many rounds are through the gun? If the barrel is not shot out you should expect better accuracy than what you are getting. I did some accuracy testing 2 weeks ago and with a .45 ACP barrel I got a 5 shot group in .907" at 50 yds! I don't remember the exact group sizing with a 9mm barrel but all 5 shots were touching at 50 yds. Simply amazing accuracy from a pistol barrel.

I'm not having accuracy issues with my 5 year old AET barrel, but would you mind sharing what load/ammo you shot that group with? Would love to have something that accurate!

The .45 ACP was 4.3gr N310 with a 230gr Hornady FMJ at 1.250". I loaded them right before the test. The 9mm was tested with Winchester 147gr TC 147 grain Truncated Cone Metal Case (TCMC).

  9. If it is a factory built SV we can rebarrel it. If it is a SightTracker we will have to modify the slide though. The rear of the rib is now square and closer to the locking lugs. Shoot us the serial number and we can verify if it was factory built for you.
