Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. hi all, I'm looking for an appendix holster for my 1911 5'' colt gold cup(norail, light or optics). Since its a big gun i want the gun to ride in the holster as high as posdible. I'm already appendix carring a Glock 17 (TXC Ally holster) and really like it, but they do not offer a 1911 model. If you have any photos to share it would be great. Thanks
  2. I just had a look at the wilsonn site. It looks like they have what i need (item 429sg). Am i right?
  3. My colt is an "out of the box" gun and no modifications were made to it. It has the low ride grip safety on it. Am i doomed? Isnt there any nsolution for old style 1911 frames to fit the new high ride grip safeties? I thought that this is what the S&A grip safeties were all about. So what is the difference between the S&A safety grips and all the other after marketi high ride safety grips?
  4. I am also interested in changing my low-ride grip safety of my colt gold cup but until today i had no idea that there is a new high-ride safety grip availabe for the old 1911 frames. I looked at the s&a site but am notnsure wich one i need. Is it the 250 or 220 angle that fits my colt? I just bought a grip safety from kimber but was very dissapointed when i discovered it does not fit...
  5. I run 9lb recoil spring with a 16lb main sping in my colt gold cup. It is the sweetest 45 i have ever shot. There is almost no muzzle rising and the gun feels and behaves more like 40 i.e the slide goes back in a "flat" manner. With a heavier spring the slide rises much higher. But at the end of the day it is a question of personal preference.
  6. Just bought a kimber style grip safety for my 80 series Colt Gold Cup. I had no idea that it would not fit. I was told that the old style frame is not the same as new frames and that the only style of grip safety that would fit is the old original grip safety i have. Are there any grip safety makers that make new style of grip safetis for the old style frames?

    BUL

Bul has a new model called SAS. It is an STI clone. It looks very good and shoots like a dream. I shot one (here in Israel) and was very ipmressed. If i were you i would try to contact Bul here in israel and ask them where else you can find their guns outside Israel. I know their website is not up to date so this is the only way to find out what you want to know. Their number is +97236392911. ask for Haim, he is head of marketing. Hope this helps
  8. I just found a 15 years old bottle of Break Free CLP. I gave it a good shake and it looks (and smells) OK. I could not find any expiry date on the bottle. Is it still good to be used or should I forget about it (again) and get a new one? BTW, during the last few years I used all sorts of lubricants but now I’m thinking to give it a try and not just use it as a “storage lube”. Anyone has an experience with this stuff?
  9. Thank you all. Splashdown, the reason there are no serrations at the rear is that i grab the slide from the front when i'm cocking. i found it to be a much faster way. BTW, Brandon also thought that this is strange and he called me about it to make sure this was not a mistake.
  10. This is my brand new Sight Tracker pistol .40" cal. made by SVI. Even though I only had the opportunity to shoot it twice (around 500 rounds) I can say that this pistol is in a league of its own. The quality of work is superb and you can tell that there were no "shortcuts" made on any of the components/build process. Also, the look and feel of the pistol is second to none. This is also the place to thank Brandon, Tami and all the guys and gals at SVI who were really kind and attentive throughout the ordering process. I apologize for the poor quality photos. Enjoy!
  11. i use the SPS basepads and they are very good. You need to check them out once in a while to make sure there are no cracks where the pin holes are, where the basepad is relatively thin. They are also very easy to install/uninstole, which is a very big + if you need to clean the magazine in a middle of a match/practice.
  12. thank you all for your help. i used Acetone and it took everything off the grip.
  13. thank you all for your help. I think i'll try the Acetone and if that wont work then i'll cover it with Plasti Dip that TKJ recommended. i'll keep you informed on how it goes
