  1. Matt1, That makes sense.

So I should look at "Target 2" just to be a cz shadow.

Then It must be legal for IPSC.

Sorry for my lack of intelligence guys.

HOWEVER, I heard in IPSC, trigger job is not allowed. Is it true?

If then, would Target 2's new trigger be okay?

The pistol is IPSC production legal if it is a CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow with OEM and legal third party parts.

The model of your pistol is what it says on the warranty card.

Asking Vince a question using a CZ Custom model name or even the mention of 'CZ Custom' will always get you a 'No' answer.

    "Appendix D4

16.1 Modifications to them, other than minor detailing (the removal of burrs and/or adjustments unavoidably

required in order to fit replacement OFM parts or components),"

Yes, trigger jobs are illegal in IPSC production guns but it is not a trigger job if you are just fitting the parts.

  2. yep, measured waist (or just regular pants size), plus 2 inches will give plenty of overlap. you don't need heaps and heaps. as long as you have at least 4 inches of overlap you're fine. once it gets past about 9 inches it's just getting in the way. I'm sure you'll be very happy with the CR speed deluxe belt. they make for a very solid platform. :)

I just bought a CR Speed Hi Torque.

I measured my waist at 38 inches and this is what I ordered. It has 8 inches of overlap on me.

I have a 35 inch waist in Levis and ordering my pants size would have been a mistake.

NOTICE regarding ADI Pistol and Shotgun powders

    12 March 2015

Australian Munitions is making some changes to the way we manufacture our pistol and shotgun powders. These changes are necessary to ensure that we can sustainably manufacture these products for many years to come. We are making changes to both the manufacturing process and formulation of the powders, in order to sustain the manufacturability and throughput of the Australian Shotgun (AS) and Australian Pistol (AP) series powders.

The result of this change will be a new series of powders that will give our customers the performance excellence you have come to expect from ADI powders in both shotgun and pistol applications. This new series of powders will be called the APS series of powders, starting with APS35 that will replace AS30N, and APS45 that will replace both AS50N and AP50N. You will see these powders start appearing on the shelves after May this year, and we will be making reloading data available for them on our website and in the 2015 edition of our reloading manual, which will be released in May. Our development of APS-series powders to replace AP70N is well under way, but we will continue to supply AP70N throughout 2015 until the new powder is ready for release. AP100 manufacture is not affected by these changes, as it is manufactured differently.

While we are making these changes, it is unfortunately possible that you may experience some difficulty obtaining AS30N, AP50N and AS50N. This is due to the fact that it is getting more difficult for us to run the old process regularly, which is an important part of the reasoning behind making the changes. We ask that you please remain patient during this time, as the changes are essential to ensuring that we can continue making these powders in Australia well into the future.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and for using our World Class powders, proudly made in Australia. We appreciate your custom.

Be safe out there, and enjoy your reloading.

  4. The Dillon Case Gauge dose the same thing just one at a time is that right.

it does NOT!!!!! my dillon .40S&W case gauge will let ANYTHING pass :(

uncrimped, lots of flare = pass

damaged brass with tons of cracks at neck = pass...

    insane glock bulge = pass...

damaged brass at mouth = pass

unsized brass shot in my svi = pass

shockbottle will have em sticking out like crazy

I have Dillon, ECW and DAA 9mm case gauges and the Dillon is the loosest.

However everything that passes the Dillon fits my CZ Shadow barrel (which is the only case gauge that counts).

    Mixed for me too.

PS I manually check each case before it goes in the tumbler so cracked and neck damaged cases get tossed early.

  5. My optician prescribed 0.75 lenses for my shooting.

I use 1.75-2.0 for reading, but have perfect sight at distance

I've been using them for a little over a week, it's awesome

Makes sense; normally you add somewhere between + 0.50 and +1.25 to your distance prescription on your dominant eye for good front sight focus and

then just use your distance prescription for your non-dom eye.

It is possible to go too strong on the front sight. You still need to see a reasonable image of the target.

Reading glasses are generally a little too strong.

I am quite short-sighted and normally use multifocals. Single vision lenses as above are what I use for pistols (and also cheaper).

Single vision lenses also mean your head angle is not as critical.

I am really not keen on bifocals or stick on lenses for shooting.

Then just whatever sights you prefer.

  6. Are you in australia? In australia they sell a model called shadow australia or shadow mate. It is different to a regular shadow. It's basically the same as a shadow Orange. In the us an Australian shadow just has the ext barrel.

Canada has an upgraded Shadow also. Comp hammer red checkered grip with maple leaf.

As I understand it the Shadow Australia is very similar to the Canadian Shadow Mate.

Except blued finish, new hammer (seems halfway between competition and standard), hand fitted sear, 1.0 fo front sight, gold grips with Australian map/flag logo.

We also have the Shadow Orange which seems only a little better than a Shadow Australia.

Shadow Australia is AU$200 more than standard and Shadow Orange is AU$200 more again.

I believe the Shadow Australias have sold out and we will not see any more but I believe another shipment of Shadow Oranges are coming.

All come with peekaboo barrels :)

  7. Even rimfire/ .22 gets the 'extended' barrel? Nice collection!

The Shadow comes with a factory extended barrel and the Kadet gets extended here. It is more a shroud than a true barrel extension to meet the legal length.

  8. Are they that hard to get?

    Not for us :)

    CZ_x_2.jpg

    Sorry.

You may like the barrel but you probably do not want our 10 round mag limit. Swings and roundabouts.

Front: standard Australian CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow dual tone

Back: Kadet barrel/slide on a Shadow frame

  9. my appointment with the optometrist is settled for tonight  . i hope it'll only be presbyopia. that way it'll simplify the RX prescription and the solution adopted.

decided i'm not going to get readers, i don't need them. i still can read a book as long as i don't hold it too close lolll.

Unless your optometrist is a shooter this may not help.

I am very short sighted and normally wear multifocals.

For IPSC I use single vision lenses with the dominant eye set for the front sight and the non-dominant set for distance.

Get your optometrist to mock up what he is recommending and go outside the test room and check that your dominant eye can still see a reasonable image at 25 yards.

It is possible to go too strong on the front sight.

I have no problem with close work (reloading etc).

I have been wearing spectacles since I was 10 years old (now 50ish) and I do not agree with suggestions to use bifocals or inverted bifocals.

Also, often reading glasses are too strong. Typically your front sight focus will be in the range of +0.50 to +1.25 over your distance prescription.

  10. Standard non shadow SP-01s are easier to get ahold of that a shadow. I would love to get my hands on a shadow that has not been tuned. SP-01s have been available on and off a couple times this year.

    Interesting.

In Australia anything else apart from a Shadow is almost impossible to get.

We do get CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow, ditto Duotone, ditto Australia, ditto Orange (2012) tho.

    "Appendix D4: Production Division"

"16. Original parts and components offered by the OFM as standard equipment, or as an option, for a specific model
handgun on the IPSC approved handgun list are permitted, subject to the following:
16.1 Modifications to them, other than minor detailing (the removal of burrs and/or adjustments unavoidably
required in order to fit replacement OFM parts or components), are prohibited. Other prohibited
modifications include those which facilitate faster reloading (e.g. flared, enlarged and/or add-on
magwells, etc.), changing the original color and/or finish of a handgun, and/or adding stripes or other
    embellishments."

Deburring and fitting is ok. Polishing is not.

However... ....an unmodified gun with 20,000 rounds thru it may appear polished in places....

  12. My first pair also came with CZ logos on both sides.

He said that the new grips come like that.

I ordered a pair of the black chequered grips from Dlask for my CZ Kadet. High quality grips and exactly as advertised with CZ logos on both sides.

I then ordered a pair of the pewter grips for my new Shadow Duo-tone and they are well made. But.... they came with a maple leaf on the left grip and CZ logo on the right. We had a few emails about the description on his website showing a CZ logo on the left and my expectation that I was buying the same as previous but in a different color. I sent them back. The website has still not had the description updated.

Received replacement pewter chequered grips with CZ logos both sides.

  13. I gather that one of Hodgdon's suppliers is rebuilding from a fire, so you could call that a supply increase plan.

"When will I be able to buy AP-70N again?

As mentioned on www.adi-powders.com, we have had a production issue with AP70N in 2013 that has seen us unable to produce AP70N, and after this was resolved a propellant burn event at our flake (shotgun and pistol) powder drying building terminated our production of these powders. Please note that this building processes only flake powder, and our rifle powder production was not affected in any way. Fortunately the building is operated by remote control, and none of our personnel were injured. We are now preparing to recommission the flake powder drying facility, and will have AP70N on the shelves again towards the latter part of this year. Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to speed up the process, but as safety is our number one priority, we are not able to restart production of AP70N until we are sure that the new building is properly commissioned and can be operated to the highest safety standards."

My grips came with CZ logos only. I suppose you would have to be Canadian to appreciate a Maple Leaf on your grip.

Did Dlask say they made a mistake or were they simply out of the grips with the CZ logos?

My first pair also came with CZ logos on both sides.

He said that the new grips come like that.

The description on the website not reflecting the product is what annoyed me.

I can see how maple leafs on both sides would appeal to Canucks but 2 different logos just look messy.

I added some aluminum grips with an aggressive texture. The color is called pewter. Sort of a dark chrome color. Supposedly they are CNC'ed just outside of the CZ factory in Czechoslovakia then imported to Canada (that's where I got them).

  16. I am pretty short sighted and normally wear right -6.50 and left -7.25 for distance in multifocal lenses. Without glasses I start to lose focus at 10 inches !

I am right eye dominant and using iron/fo sights.

For pistol shooting my optometrist came up with right -5.50 and left -7.00 in single vision lenses.

These give me a very clear front sight and an only slightly fuzzy target at 25 yards.

Before settling on this he mocked them up in a replaceable lense frame and got me to check my 25 yard vision.

It is possible to go too strong on the front sight and totally fuzz out the target.

Commonly they add somewhere between +0.50 and +1.25 to your distance prescription (for your dominant eye) to get a good front sight focus, normally at about 80 cm (31 inches).
