  1. I prefer Clays - but - it may not be available and the Firm that manufactures it in Australia is supposed to be ceasing to make it this year.

Que ? Clays is ADI AS30N and is available here.

Here is the latest news release from ADI on where they are up to; http://www.adi-powders.com.au/handloaders/news.asp#item0

    AS30N = Clays

AP50N (not imported to US) similar to HP38

    AS50N = International

    AP70N = Universal

N320 is preferred here for minor but has been almost non-existant for a while.

Second choice AP50; available in small quantities in December 2014 but not available since.

Third; AS50N available in small quantities.

    Fourth; AP70N in ok quantities.

In spite of its popularity in the US AS30N (Clays) is not popular here.

  2. Ebay has pulled the $9 listing. There is also a similar $16 listing that will probably get pulled soon.

    Sorry about that guys.

Seems to be a few other sellers with what looks like 'genuine' replicas for about AU$40 plus AU$25 postage.

The TR7 have a good soul but the colours are boring.

Have you seen anything similar but brighter BB ?

  3. Equipment inspection is done at every stage.

Note for IPSC your equipment only has to comply from the start signal, not load and make ready.

"6.2.5.1 A competitor who fails to satisfy the equipment or other requirements of a declared Division after

the Start Signal, will be placed in Open Division, if available, otherwise the competitor’s scores

will not be entered into match results. Competitors already registered in Open Division who fail to

comply with the requirements of Open Division after the Start Signal will not have their scores

    entered into match results."

  4. I believe the stock main spring is 17/18 lb and the stock recoil spring is 14 lb.

I would change the main spring to 13 lb and the recoil spring to 11 lb and your own choice of grips.

Leave everything else standard and put 5,000 rounds through it.

  5. Why ?

I use the Lyman green (treated corn cob).

Started off tumbling for 45 minutes. A friend said add 15 minutes when it does not clean enough.I am now up to 1:15.

When you get to 3 hours throw it out and buy some more. Should be about 18 months.

Bought some nu finish but it is still sitting on the cabinet.

  6. I am also using the AWS Gemini-20. Great little scale for the price.

I do calibrate it before each session tho.

Only had it for 3 months so I cannot tell how it will last.

  7. Another option for a DOH hanger is the BOSS. It is marginally more adjustable than the Bladetech product making it easier to meet the requirements and still maintain a decent position for the draw. I tried to make the Bladetech mount work and wasn't able to get it positioned very well.

    + 1000

You get a legal width, better grip on the gun and a stiffer holster.

    .

  8. A friend did some testing and found that shorter was more accurate in his Shadow.

I am running OAL of 1.095 using 135gr LRN in my CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow Aus

Going shorter will up your PF a little.

  9. PS When asking if a gun is IPSC production legal it is not a good idea to specify the CZC model name.(or CZC at all).

Simply specify the parts used and work performed.

Counseling someone on how to circumvent the rules?........As your fellow countryman would say "No cookie for you"

    Absolutely not.

Simply suggesting what verbal/wriitten triggers you might want to avoid that will get you a 'NO' on an otherwise IPSC production legal gun.

  10. I dug into this a little more. The issues appear to be the mainspring and slide polishing that is done. Is anybody at IPSC Nationals in the US going to care?

Any CZ OEM mainspring is fine.

    Polishing; no. Fitting is fine.

    "Appendix D4

    16. Original parts and components offered by the OFM as standard equipment, or as an option, for a specific model

handgun on the IPSC approved handgun list are permitted, subject to the following:

16.1 Modifications to them, other than minor detailing (the removal of burrs and/or adjustments unavoidably

required in order to fit replacement OFM parts or components), are prohibited. Other prohibited

modifications include those which facilitate faster reloading (e.g. flared, enlarged and/or add-on

magwells, etc.), changing the original color and/or finish of a handgun, and/or adding stripes, stippling or

    other embellishments."

    IPSC Handgun Rules; http://www.ipsc.org/pdf/RulesHandgun.pdf

PS When asking if a gun is IPSC production legal it is not a good idea to specify the CZC model name.(or CZC at all).

Simply specify the parts used and work performed.

  11. Magnets are approved for IPSC production.

My thought on it was that if I had the stripper mag in my front pocket, might get grabby for it, which would put me to open. It is fine for it to stay in the front pocket, but if you touch it during the match, your bumped up as it is infront of your hips. So I didn't want to even risk it, and put it in the rear. Also when the LAMR command comes up, I get a practise reach for my last mag. Reminds me of my placement, and makes sure all my other mags are in their spots.

I have not had a single issue with it, and think it was one of my best purchases.

Yes a magnet is fine for IPSC

    Front pocket; No.

Your gear has to be behind your hip whether you use it or not.

Note it has to comply after the start signal (not after LAMR)

    rule 6.2.5.1

So no problem with walking to the line with a mag on the magnet as long as it is removed before the start signal and the magnet itself is not in front of your hip.

    IPSC only

    Setup for 9mm pistol
Dillon XL650B with Lee sizing/depriming die, Dillon powder die with MBF funnel, Dillon seating die and Lee FCD
Lee Classic Turret wih Lee sizing/depriming and Lee FCD

It started off as a packing bench which is why it is a little lower than some. The strong mounts make up for it tho.

  13. I have medium hands with short fingers.

I like the CZ chequered aluminimum on my Shadow.

A friend has small hands with long fingers and she currently runs rubber on the strong side and chequered on the weak side.

She has tried a few combinations and is considering replacing the rubber with VZ (strong side only).

  14. There has not been a lot of information coming out of ADI for quite a while which is causing some consternation locally in Aus.

There are doubts that it was a mistake with dates but no real info of course. The correction is interesting.

AP50N is was probably the most popular minor load pistol powder here (of all brands).

There has been no (zero, zilch, nada) AP50N or AP70N (Universal) available in Sydney since mid January.

ADI advised that a AP70N shipment is coming in the next few weeks.

  15. "CORRECTION of notice regarding ADI Pistol and Shotgun powders

    31 March 2015

    Dear Reloader,

On 16 March, Australian Munitions released a notice regarding future developments in ADI Pistol and Shotgun powders. The notice incorrectly stated that the new range of APS powders will be phased in from May this year (2015).

The new range of APS powders will be phased in from May 2016. Until then, Australian Munitions will produce enough AS30N, AS50N, AP50N and AP70N to ensure that the forecast needs of our Australian reloading customers can be met. In addition to this, we will produce adequate stocks of these powders to allow for a period of around one year where both ranges (APS and AS/AP powders) will be available.

Australian Munitions apologises for this error, it was simply a matter of human error in getting the date wrong.

We are aware that our customers in some areas are still experiencing some difficulties getting hold of our powders. This is partly due to absolutely unprecedented demand, coupled with some localised issues with distribution logistics. Transporting significant quantities of powder “classified as a Hazard Division 1.3C material“ to all corners of Australia in full compliance with the various applicable state and federal regulations remains an extremely challenging task. We are working very hard to improve the situation, as we would like every reloader in Australia to have ready access to our products.

Enjoy our sport, and stay safe.

    Ferdi Kluever

    Sales Director, Australian Munitions"
