  1. If it is the same mould with just the lube groove machined off then the dimensions should be similar and the weight slightly more. ie the PF will be a little higher.

Regardless, because I am a pedantic bastard, I measure and weight all new projectiles and adjust accordingly.

    Then chrono.

  2. !35gr is pretty common as an IPSC production projectile here in Australia.

    My production load is;

135gr Susan Island Hytek coated LRN

    3.6gr ADI AP70 (Universal)

    Federal SPP

OAL 1.095 (it is short for a CZ Shadow)

    PF is 133

  3. I use the pinch method;

I pinch then pull the hammer to the rear. If I have a problem then this is when it will occur.

If this is successful then I put my finger in and pull the trigger as I lower.

I deliberately do this slowly and in stages.

No problems so far (touch wood) but I only have 6000 rounds and maybe 250 starts.

  4. If I could buy a Shadow 2 now I probably would (assuming they are under AU$2000).

However, in the last 2 years I have seen every CZ shipment delivery date 'scretched'.

Delivery dates for other manufacturers are not any better.

So instead I purchased a Shadow Australia (similar to the Canadian Shadow Mate except without that maple thingy).

It came in the same shipment as the Shadow 2 samples.

It has a nicer trigger and tighter feel than my Shadow duo tone. It will do me for the next year or two.

    .

  5. And it is on the IPSC production list

    http://www.ipsc.org/rules/proddiv.php

    "CZ75 P01, P07 Duty, P09, CZ75 SP-01, CZ75 SP-01 Tactical, CZ75 SP-01 Shadow, CZ75 SP01 Dual Tone, CZ75 SP-01 Sport (9x21mm version with OFM trigger stop as sold in Italy), CZ75 SP-01 Phantom, CZ75 SP-01 Shadow TR, CZ75 SP-01 Shadow Orange, Shadow 2."

  6. It would be a lot more interesting if it came stock with the bushing.

I believe there are concerns that they will not approve the bushing version for IPSC Production.

  7. Looks like Robin Sebo and Maria Gushchina will have their Shadow 2 at the Australian IPSC Nationals 25-27 March (Easter).

This will be the first International competition for the gun.

Unfortunately, the Shadow 2 will not be ratified for IPSC Production until 1 April so they will probably be shooting in Standard.

    PB says the mags fit.

  8. Even in the catalog, under technical data it says barrel length 119 mm, but in the writeup it says 125 mm. Hopefully it's 125 mm.

Ok, so the barrel length in the 'Technical Data' has now grown to 120mm :)

The general description and catalogue still say 125mm in several places.

Obviously only one is right and I am still thinking its 125mm.

A bit frustrating when you know how easy it is to fix a website and a problem like this continues for several days.

  9. Interesting. This site lists the barrel length as 119 mm under technical data.

    http://www.czub.cz/en/produkty/pistole/competition/cz-shadow-2.html

So perhaps the 125 mm barrel length is only in Australia?

If you read the catalogue (http://www.czub.cz/produktovy_katalog_en/index.html) there are several references to 125mm barrel so I think this is the worldwide length.

Would make sense, marketing wise people want the (slightly) longer barrel and one manufacturing setup would be cheaper and suit all markets.

  10. Is this replacing the current shadow? Is there going to be an accushadow based off this?

    Nobody knows.

We are expecting the CZ factory team at the Australian IPSC Nationals at Easter to have Shadow 2.

We may also have a shipment in Australia at the same time (maybe).

  11. You are asking a very wide question;

    - an unmodified Shadow is production legal

    - Shadowlines are updated versions of older guns and unmodified are production legal

    - the Shadow Orange is a higher quality, better fitted version of the Shadow and unmodified is production legal.

Generally in IPSC production you can use any CZ factory part designed for that series of gun and remain production legal.

You can fit these parts but you cannot polish them.

You can also use CZ or third party grips and sights and remain legal. You cannot modify the slide to fit sights.

    Appendix D4 of the 'IPSC Handgun Competition Rules' is a good place to start;

    "APPENDIX D4: Production Division

    1. Minimum power factor for Major - Not applicable
    2. Minimum power factor for Minor -125
    3. Minimum bullet weight - No
    4. Minimum bullet caliber / cartridge case length - 9 mm (0.354”) / 19 mm (0.748”)
    5. Minimum bullet caliber for Major - Not applicable
    6. Minimum trigger pull (see Appendix E4a) - 2.27 kg (5 lbs.) for first shot
    7. Maximum handgun size Maximum barrel length - 127 mm
    8. Maximum magazine length - No
    9. Maximum ammunition capacity - Yes, see below
    10. Max. distance of handgun and allied equipment from torso - 50 mm (see Rule 5.2.5)
    11. Rule 5.2.10 / Appendix E2 applies - Yes
    12. Optical/electronic sights - No
    13. Compensators, ports, sound and/or flash suppressors - No

    Special conditions:
    14. Only handguns listed as approved on the IPSC website may be used in Production Division. Note that handguns
deemed by IPSC to be single-action-only are expressly prohibited. The official IPSC protocol used to measure
barrel length is described in Appendix E4b.

    15. Handguns with external hammers must be fully decocked (see Rule 8.1.2.5), at the Start Signal. First shot
attempted must be double action. Competitors in this Division who, after the issuance of the Start Signal and
prior to attempting the first shot, cock the hammer on a handgun which has a loaded chamber, will incur one
procedural penalty per occurrence. Note that a procedural penalty will not be assessed in respect of courses of
fire where the ready condition requires the competitor to prepare the handgun with an empty chamber. In these
cases, the competitor may fire the first shot single action.

    16. Original parts and components offered by the OFM as standard equipment, or as an option, for a specific model
handgun on the IPSC approved handgun list are permitted, subject to the following:
16.1 Modifications to them, other than minor detailing (the removal of burrs and/or adjustments unavoidably
required in order to fit replacement OFM parts or components), are prohibited. Other prohibited
modifications include those which facilitate faster reloading (e.g. flared, enlarged and/or add-on
magwells, etc.), changing the original color and/or finish of a handgun, and/or adding stripes, stippling or
    other embellishments.
16.2 Magazines accessible to a competitor during a COF must not contain more than 15 rounds at the Start
Signal. Identifying marks or decals, internal capacity limiters, bumper pads and additional witness holes,
which add or remove negligible weight to/from magazines, are permitted.
16.3 Sights may be trimmed, adjusted and/or have colors applied. Sights may also be fitted with fiber optic or
    similar inserts.

    17. Aftermarket parts, components and accessories are prohibited, except as follows:
17.1 Aftermarket magazines are permitted, subject to 16.2 above.
17.2 Aftermarket open sights (see Rule 5.1.3.1) are permitted, provided their installation and/or adjustment
requires no alteration to the handgun.
17.3 Aftermarket grip panels which match the profile and contours of the OFM standard or optional grip
panels for the approved handgun and/or the application of tape on grips (see Appendix E3a) are
permitted. However, rubber sleeves are prohibited."

  12. Talking to the Australian distributor; he thought the frame was a larger TS style frame too but the factory assures him it is a similar size to the current Shadow.

Supposed to arrive here in late March.

  13. The Tanfog look does not appeal.

I know a few people wanted a bigger frame, looks bigger but hard to tell. Larger would be a negative for me.

Hopefully the original Shadow continues to be made alongside it.

    The Oranges are true classics.

Just have to wait and see what it is like I guess.

  14. Its a Shadow, load it short. I am loading a 135gr LRN to 1.095.

Susan Island 135gr Hytek coated LRN (dia 0.3565)

    3.6gr AP70 (Universal)

    Federal SPP

    OAL 1.095

    PF 133

A few people have found their Shadows are more accurate loaded even shorter

  15. The only issue you really have is house insurance. But again I would not ask, just spend a boring evening reading your policy.

In Australia we already have limits.

In NSW (capital Sydney) we have 12kg (26lb) powder limit, no primer limit and no bullet limit.

In the next state ACT (capital Canberra); 10kg (22lb) powder limit, 10,000 primers and 10,000 complete bullets

    Enjoy while you can.
