  1. post-4086-1184758305.png

The dates have been fixed for 17 & 18 May 2008 for the main match (see IPSC Calendar)

Details w.r.t. to Stage number, round count, RM, RO's, etc will be available soon. We will again be offering various packages - Just Shoot, Holiday-and-Shoot, Hunt-and-Shoot, etc

The possibility of a 3-gun Level II on the following weekend has also been tabled and might be included in the above packages. :goof:

Updates will be loaded onto our webpage: NAPSA

Hope to meet many of you over here

  2. After some twisting of my rubber arm, subtle and not so subtle hint from higher up the IPSC hierarchy, we are looking at hosting the first ever Namibian Level III IPSC match. To make it a bit more attractive to come and visit our paradise, the idea is to "sell" the shoot as a package with a tour through the country (e.g. Etosha National Park, Waterberg, Swakopmund and various other town, nature areas, lodges, farms, boatcruises, etc) lasting for say ± 1 week with maybe a smaller shoot to round it off.

Accommodation will be included as will most meals, safe firearm storage, etc, etc, etc

How many of you would be interested to come to a Level III in Namibia? As package/holiday deal or just for the shoot? Hunting opportunitieswill also be available.

    When: 19/20 May 2007

    9 Stages, 170 rounds

We'll keep the webpage updated: Namibia Practical Shooting Ass.

Let me know if you want to drop by.

  3. Patrick, you can get originaly sized 15 round mags from www.k-mag.co.za With a bit of tweaking you can push 'em to 17 or 18 (with extensions, etc...) They also make 20 odd round mags.....

Put a scope on it and hammer it in Open!!!!

  4. BTW, would you ever consider DQ'ing somebody who was losing it while shooting, on the grounds that the shooter might do something unsafe? This would be hard in a major match - only the squad members would know that a problem might be building from stage to stage. But in this case my friend and I, as the senior shooters on the squad and therefore the RO's for each stage, were becoming aware that this shooter at least, was really getting worked up.

    :unsure::unsure::unsure:

    Yes!

Seen it done to one of my squad members at the Africa Champs in 2003. He was frantically trying to clear a jam. The RO stopped him, gave the ULSC command and DQ'ed the shooter for unsafe gun handling. The arbitration committee upheld the RO's decision.

  5. PS: What caught my eye is your "I live in Nam". That used to mean somewhere very different about 30+ years ago!

I can see where that could cause confusion....

    ---------

I checked the extractor and its bottom is perfectly square, so a little rounding will be in order. I have also got hold of a Caspian extractor...will be here tomorrow...

The breach face of the gun is a mirror (if I clean it :P ) and I polished the feeding ramp and chamber.

I also ordered Wolff mag springs with Arradondo followers - also here tomorrow...all just in time for this weekends nationals.... ;)

I will try without the buff as well. It has been in there forever, but it might be the cause....

Tnx for all the advise...will let know after the weekend what happend.... <_<

  6. I think they should start a new division, SUPER MAJOR! 50 AE, S&W 500 Mag. maybe the 454. One shot per target instead of two, as long as you are over 500 Power Factor. :D

I'll support that anytime...16 rounds later....

  7. I shoot a Para P16-40 with nearly no mods, except for the sights and a 2-piece full length guide rod with red Shok Buff. I have put in a new extractor about 3000 rounds ago (again Para...I live in Nam, couldn't get anything else... ;) ) since the old one stopped reliably extracting cases.

Now something new has popped up. I get FTF. I used to get this when loading my ammo at 29.5mm (1.16in). This disappeared since I now load 30.5mm (1.20in) and had no FTF's in over 5000 rounds. Now it popped up again. And I'm frustrated like hell. Because of 2 FTF's at the SA Champs 2 weeks ago I dropped a couple of places. If I shoot bad its me, if the gun jams I wanna destroy it!

Here is what happens: The round enters the chamber, but then hangs up against the top in the chamber (the nose of the bullet does not drop down). If I have time (not during a match) if I pull back the slide just a fraction the round pops into the chamber and under the extractor....

What can the problem be? My load is mixed .40S&W brass, Frontier (South Africa) 180gr RNFP CMJ bullets seated and crimped at 30.5mm.
