  1. Just on the surface. I haven't polished it out because I don't want to create a shiny spot.
  2. I gun-koted my wonder finish Witness. It looks good and seems to be holding up well. The gun jammed on its first range trip, though. When I took it apart, I found the coating had rubbed off of the part of the slide that cocks the hammer. If you refinish your Witness, I recommend blasting with fine grit aluminum oxide (coarse grit leaves the surfaces too rough) and masking off the last inch or so of the ridge on the bottom of the slide.
  3. Another question on the subject of wonder finish: what's the best way to touch up a scratch? Is a pen available? If so, where? Thanks in advance.
  4. Update: I just called Henning's shop and asked someone if the fixed "LPA style" rear sight for the Match had white dots, and was told it did so I ordered one. It shouldn't be too difficult to paint my own white dot on the factory front sight. I hope this information helps others who may be looking for the same thing. Now to get this thread back on topic: I'd like to hear some reviews from people who actually try the new all-black fixed sight paired with a fiber optic front. I'd specifically like to know how quickly the eye picks up both sights when the weapon is first drawn, and for each follow up shot as well. I'll be checking this thread every day for the next few weeks. Cheers!
  5. The Novak sight you mentioned might be exactly what I'm looking for - do you have a direct link? If you mean the short adjustable sight pictured on the EAA parts site, I think that's the same sight that came on my Match, and there aren't any dimples on it for white paint. Henning: I'm very sorry for hijacking your thread. I never thought finding a set of white dot sights for my Match would be so difficult.
  6. Apologies, it appears I've asked my question in the wrong place. I specifically wanted to know if the fixed "LPA style" rear sight listed on your website has white dots... I guess I should just call and ask. I wish you good luck with your new black rear sight, but my Match already has a black rear sight and I sure don't want another one. I find it frustrating that both the Henning site and the EAA parts site show the same tiny photo of three factory rear sights, but don't show (or mention) whether any of them have white dots, forcing every curious soul to pick up the phone and call. I haven't ordered gun parts by phone since the 20th century (haven't missed it much, either). If the fixed "LPA style" sight doesn't have white dots, I think I'll try fitting a rear sight from a Ruger SR22 pistol to my slide. It has both white dots and an unusually wide dovetail. It's also adjustable, so I can tweak it for elevation changes when I switch from .38 Super, to .38 Super +P, to 9x23Win. And it has a reversible blade. If only the Witness sights had reversible blades, all black on one side and white dots on the other, everyone would be accommodated. Maybe that'll be the next generation. Cheers!
  7. Sorry, I thought the forums were appropriate places to ask these sorts of questions... I didn't realize that Angus Hobdel lived to answer every newbie question that came along. Thanks for setting me straight!
  8. Thanks for the quick reply! Your description sounds great. Unfortunately, my eyes aren't as good as some. A black blade "disappears" for me, I'd prefer a thin white border around it at least. There's a fixed "LPA style" rear sight for the Match on your website... does it have white dots? I own another Witness with fixed white dots that I shoot very well, and I'd like to have both guns set up the same. It's what all my pistols have... it's what I'm used to. Last question: if a little elevation adjustment is necessary with the new fixed sight, can it be accomplished with the judicious removal of some material? BTW, thank you for bringing these sights (and so many more great products) to market.
  9. Apologies if this has been asked before, but I've seen pictures of what looks like an original CZ85 combat trigger in a DA/SA Witness pistol, and was hoping to get verification before I ordered one. Thanks!
  10. That's great news! Does it have white dots, or fiber optic inserts? I just picked up a new Match a couple of weeks ago, and the blacked out sights were my biggest disappointment. Other areas of concern (magazines, grips, recoil springs) have already been addressed... now I have to replace these all-but-invisible black sights! P.S. Can anyone explain why the makers thought black sights would be a good idea? Unless the purpose was to sell more aftermarket sights, or save money on white paint, they really screwed the pooch with that "feature". Thanks!
