Am stages should have targets at 200 yards max. Most shooters were struggling with the few we had at that distance and I missed everything beyond 140 yards with my 1x red dot. I knew I was handicapped with my scope going in. On the other hand, I hosed everything under 50 yards. I was there to have fun and shoot challenging stages which I did... I'll be there next year hoping the weather cooperates a bit. My one suggestion regarding Am prize table is to publish the random drawing order 30 minutes prior. Then call the shooters by name and number. This way you don't have to stand there for two hours with no clue when/if you'll be called. This relieves tension and allows for unhurried bathroom breaks, Frank A.

Yes, practice range is very much needed throughout the match. It would have been nice for them to leave us some 4 target stands and more than one steel plate back there. Maybe next time they can accommodate this and possibly even provide steel flashers at 100, 150 and 200 yards.

Thanks again to my new friends on Am squad #11. Everyone shot Tactical Optics. I think we all shot a great match and ended up ranked where we deserved although some of us crashed and burned on at least one stage. We all had a great time. Thanks to the Rockcastle match organizers, staff, RO's and sponsors for a great match and excellent Am prize table. I picked up a cool CMC trigger and a couple of nice gift certificates even though I was called over 1 hour into the random prize table drawing. Definitively worth waiting in the rain for.

Yes, I went to the pistol bay area (AM #7) this morning where they did the briefing at 7:25 AM and were shooting by 7:35 AM. Same for the Pro stage next to it. I'm planning to get there at 7:15 AM so I don't have to hustle getting my belt on and gear ready.

Folks, the stage map is a joke. I tried to drive to Am stage 4 from the lodge and it took me 30 minutes to find the correct location. Still never found Am #6. Note: for Am #4 and #5 turn into the dirt road next to the red barn. NOT on the paved road with houses as shown on the map.

IainC, it was great meeting you today and nice to be on the same AM squad (#11). Hopefully some other folks from the forum will come over to say hi during the day. Folks, Not sure if y'all are meeting at the lodge tonight for bubbly beverages? Although I prefer lime drinks with mexican fire water. Frank A.

Folks, I don't know you guys in person and would like to put faces to these handles. We should plan to meet at the lodge Thursday evening and come up with some sort of signal so we know we're all on this thread OR Dillen (EaZeNuTZ33) can bring a sign that reads "Free Beverage for Brian Enos's Forum Members" Any ideas?

You gonna be around next weekend? I could leave some behind for you with someone if needed. I don't want any warm engrish beer tho.....a whiskey and coke would work. ;-) I can only imagine all the Brits' cries when they read this post... Years ago I ordered a scotch whiskey with ice and coke over there and almost got slapped in the face by the waiter. He ended up bringing me the whiskey straight, a coke bottle and a small pitcher with 4 small ice cubes. He said if I wanted to commit sacrilege I would have to mix it myself. Ha ha ha ...

Jesse, thanks for the tip. I'll grab some of those slugs from the vendor area if they have them. I've never shot slugs at a match. I bought some a while back just in case there was a need and the perceived kick on my gun is about 3x more than the Federal 7 1/2 1oz target loads I use for competition. Also, the 2 3/4" buck shot feels like 2x as the target loads. I hate shooting my shotgun and I'll try to avoid using it at the match as much as possible. I suck at loading it too. I'm ready to buy a semi-auto but not before this match.

From the rulebook: 4.4.4 Buckshot for 12 gauge must be 00 buck with 9 pellet maximum and 20 gauge must be No. 3 buck with 20 pellet maximum. Darn it... and I thought I had this figured out earlier today when I picked up a couple of boxes of Federal 12 gauge 3" 00 buck shot with 12 pellets. I guess I'll just have to trust those poppers are set to go down easy. I also got some Federal 12 gauge 1 oz low recoil rifled slugs. Never tried them before, but the regular slugs kick like a mule on my Remington 870.

Am stage 2 has six BC zone steel targets to be engaged with slugs, I didn't see any other slugs on the Am match.
