Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. For $100 from Wal-Mart you can get a HP inkjet that does additional duty as a copier and a scanner. I've got about a dozen of them here at work and the end users love 'em. They are not all that small but are about 2/3rds the size of a bread box. The copy function is a real plus in business for end users but may not be of much use to you for a club printer. But the printers are pretty fast for an inkjet even if they are kind of noisy. The model number is HP PCS 1200. Take a look at them. If they are too big, just buy the least expensive Lexmark you can find and budget to replace it every year. They are pretty much a disposable item and $50 or so you can afford for it to be. Good luck and good shooting.
  2. Thanks for the imput. Sometimes when you live in a small out of the way town you get paraniod because most every thing seems to cost more. (Our fuel prices tend to be the highest in the state). So I'm always wondering if we are just getting gouged or if the prices we pay reflect national trends. In this case it sounds like we are not the only ones who are experincing higher prices. Thanks again.
  3. I stopped yesterday to pick up some hard cast 180 grain bullets in .40 cal. and the gun shop didn't have any. The owner, a friend of mine, told me that he was having a difficult time getting bullets because his source told him that a couple of major US lead mines had been shut down and because the US dollar is weak overseas, China and various European countries were purchasing up resources as fast as they could, to include lead. Then he told me that when he did get more in, they would be about 30% higher in cost than what I had been paying. This was not good news. I was wondering if anyone else had come across anything like this. I live in a small town in the middle of South Dakota and the gun shop is the only one in town. While I can get jacket bullets at one or two other places, this the one and only source in town for hard cast lead. If anyone has had similiar experinces, I'd like to hear about it. Thanks, and good shooitng.
  4. Last year I hurt my left hand and I missed a match. Two weeks later it was still sore but I figured I could shoot. So I get up to the line and the RO tells me to load and make ready. No my open gun was pretty new and you really had to slap the magazine in good and hard to seat it. Of course with my sore hand I didn't get it seated properly. At the beep I execute a draw and as the gun comes up, the magazine goes flying out and lands about fifteen feet in front of me. I thought the RO was never going to stop laughing at me. I didn't fire a shot so they allowed me to retrieve my magazine and try it again. While I made it through the day without that happening again, I probably put my hand back at least a week in the healing process. The things we are willing to do in order to be humiliated in a match! Good shooting.
  5. JD, I sometimes have the same issue. I discovered that when I fully extended my arms the muzzle of my pistol drops a bit. When I shoot fast I tend to make that full extension of my right hand and the muzzle would go down but when I allowed a slight flex I don't do that. While I could put in an arched mainspring houseing on my open gun I currently can't alter my limited gun as I also shoot that one in our clubs production class. I've altered my stance just a tad and now I fully extend my weak hand and keep my strong arm bent just a bit. This has helped tremendously. You might give it a try. Good shooting.
