  1. Thanks for the info guys, I actually found out that Quality was bought out by Bear Creek Bullets some number of years ago, I am checking on ordering some of their bullets now . Thanks again.
  2. I looked in "search' but without any luck, so I was wondering if someone might be able to help.........I was sponsored by a bullet manufacturer by the name of "Quality Bullets" out of Mariposa CA and was wondering if anyone has heard what became of the company. My last contact with them was before I left the sport and was probably 1998-99 time period. Anyway, I just loaded my last box of the 135 gr 38 super bullets that I had left from them and need to find a replacement bullet or find out if they are still making them under a different name. I tried contacting my rep with the numbers that I had with out any luck. They were a lead, graphite coated bullet that shot very clean and were very in-expensive . I had access to all the bullets that I needed and supplied many of my fellow shooters from that time period with the bullets at a very reasonable rate, I recall them costing about 35.00 per thousand. Anyway, I am OUT of them!!! I also used the Winchester 130gr 38 super bullets for any of the larger matches that I shot, but loved the Quality Bullet for club matches and practice. I would appreciate any info if anyone knows if the company is still around, or if not.....if someone knows of a similar bullet and where to get them, that would be great as well, thanks.
  3. MAN.......and I thought I had problems!!! I would suggest slowing down just a tad so that you're certain that the shots are where you want them placed to begin with. I know, slow is hard to do, especially after watching the super squad blaze through a stage , but I found myself improving the most when I went back to the basics and took my time, scored good hits, and didn't have to second guess myself.......but remember, if you're shooting all alphas, you're shooting too slow. My biggest problem is that I can't take my own advice when I get to a classifier......I always seem to tank them
  4. I shot the Steel Challenge in 1993 up in fresno, CA and loved it. Unfortunately I haven't been able to make it back. If you can believe it, I actually placed ahead of everyone from the USAMU.....it was the beginning to their action shooting team headed up by Merle Edington who went on to win the USPSA open nationals in 1994, go figure? I had only been shooting open class for about 4 months and competing at all for about a year and a half. I noticed on major difference at the challenge......all the guns were lightened and the loads were extremely light. From those I talked to, the were using 115 gr at around 900-1100 fps. I was shooting a Springfield 9x21 with 115 gr flying about 1000 fps with a very light recoil spring. Anyway, I guess the main difference in the real steel challenge is the weight of the guns being used, the can be transitioned from target to target much faster because you dont have the excess weight causing momentum to carry your sight picture past the next target. The Jet kicked all of our butts. I ended up ok though, 13 in class (semi-pro > cause you win prizes instead of trophies! ) and 74th overall. I would love to shoot it again someday. Are they still using pneumatic targets? That was the first year that they were trying them.
